    I remember seeing him on TV with a teenage girl who was rejecting that she was working class even though she clearly was. She saw it as an insult John saw it as a badge of honor. We need a lot more like him as MPs

    At least Prescott admitted the war in Iraq was wrong and illegal, he regretted having voted for it. Something that Blair and Campbell have never done. JB had interviewed both of these recently.

    I remember John Prescott giving an interview where he talked about going to a secondary modern school. This happened to me but I passed the 13+ and I can tell you that I was told that I would never be a nurse or have a profession but I could be a shop girl provided I had a nice accent. The education was barely adequate. The shame was terrible for me and my parents. I knew exactly where he came from. Well done John Prescott, respect, RIP.

    Without John Prescott, Tony Blair would have been the best Tory Prime minister the UK as ever known, Blair did not undue the policies introduced by Thatcher and Thatcher praised Blair on this in-action. John Prescot stopped the left wing of the labour party from under mining the centre of the labour party and made the labor party electable for 3 consecutive terms.

    Back when Labour was the party of the working class, not the party of the privileged middle class it has become. Labour 2024 is an insult to the history of the Labour party. The Labour I grew up with would not have knowingly and willingly killed vunerable and elderly people to pay already very well paid public sector workers.

      New Labour changed a lot about society and were the era that brought a Britain still reeling from Thatcherism into the 21st century before austerity tore it back down, Prescott was hugely influential in shaping the country

      @wptonic yes Blair absolutely was he didn't do nearly enough to undo neoliberal policy and privatisation but at least Prescott kept labour closer to the unions or things could have been far worse
