“When I walked past this guy, and he hit me with the egg and I reacted, and Tony [Blair] asked me, er, what happened, I said I was carrying out his orders: he told us to connect with the electorate, so I did.”

John Prescott was instrumental in negotiating the 1997 Kyoto Protocol on climate change. He brought two factions of the Labour Party together, and had he not, it would have been unelectable. He called out injustice frequently. He was not perfect, but achieved more than me or the many keyboard-warriors. He will be missed.
That phone tapping roast was brilliant, not enough people ever say that and I bet it's because people have to sign some sort of gagging order in order to go on any of Piers' programmes, the irony of which being "Uncensored" is the current title of it.
That clip with him shaving reminds me of another clip that unfortunately isn’t here, where he’s talking about something and messes up, swears and then says ‘Can we go again?’ and an off-camera voice says ‘We’re live’ 😂
Sad that this is how I found it he passed. It was good to see him defending labour values when Corbyn was leader instead of doing their best to undermine the party like Blair.
I thought exactly the sae thing: the passing of political giants beaing brought to my attention by meme-like videos on a social media platform. No Big Ben chimes and sombre intonations from newspersons
Yes he campaigned with Corbyn on the bus, he came to Hull and spoke at a packed rally with Corbyn unlike Blair or some other New Labour ministers and Neil Kinnock he not publicly criticise Corbyn for 'being to left wing' he supported him.

The one I always think of was the top gear interview when he is quizzed about the egg incident. ‘Tony said to go connect with the electorate so that’s exactly what I did!’
My favourite moment. John Prescott: Can we do that again, please? I made that crap! TV Interviewer: Sorry, Mr. Prescott, we're live at the moment! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I remember as a kid he fought long and hard for a national minimum wage, by the time I'd left school for my first job in a warehouse I received the benefit of that and couldn't help but think the Tories if they were back in power would like to pay me LESS for my days graft! Never voted blue for that reason.
RIP/Vale Prezza. Can't say I always agreed with his head, but there was no doubt his heart was in the right place. The Labour Left has not had a figure of his calibre in many years, and it has been much the poorer for it.
For all his compromises with New Labour , he did have a heart for the people and working class. Had a lot of time for him and there was so much snobbery directed against him A better man then Peter Mandelson
I miss the days of 'relative' common sense politics and 'real' politicians who stood for more than themselves. By and large, when politicians were caught in a lie, they would at least have the grace to take responsibility for it... Eventually. Before the dark times... Before the Empire.
RIP John. At least there used to be fighters in the Labour Party then (in more ways than one) instead of the shower we've got now. You will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
I know he's probably the wrong sort of politician for this channel, but could you do one of these compilations for Nicholas Soames at some point? There's so little archive footage of him floating around publicly, if you've got access to some exclusive archives containing footage of him in the House or on television, they'd be a riot to watch. I'm a huge fan of the old toff and I'd love to see some more of him in action like JP here!
@@alfsmith4936 Totally wrong - Prescott had power and really had a great impact between issues with Blair and Brown. He kept labour in touch with working class roots. Anderson is just a dinosaur whos angry and blames others for the nations ills.

that was on his top gear interview
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
❤
You beat me to it!
Class act. Piers didn’t dare answer the phone tapping response.
Of course he didn't because he was in on it that coward knew exactly what was going on with phone tapping.
The Prescott Punch happened down the road from where I live. We should petition for a blue plaque 😂

Nah, he was a socialist buffoon,....another left-wing trougher lapping up Maggie's 40% top tax rate.
Another champagne socialist.

Nut zero whilst driving TWO gas guzzling Jaguars.
RIP John. A fucking legend, through and through.
Unlike this London middle class shi@te Labour has become
Proper politics and proper labour. A flawed guy but called out hypocrites to help the working population to be better off.
Yo that left jab was SHARP. Pure instinct.
He gave two jabs and he owned two jags. What a legend.
Northern handshake
He lent me a quid for the bus
what a lad
did you pay him back?
Not many like him these days. Love him or loathe him, he could take the hits and dish them out. Our politics misses big personalities like this.
I agree also legendary Dennis Skinner was brilliant as well
Not any like him these days

We need more politicians like John, Angela Rayner is certainly from the same mould. RIP John❤
She's too afraid of upsetting anyone to be as effective as John.
Not many coming through from the Trade Unions now.

Who also happened to sadly pass away this year. Psycho Sid Vicious Eudy.
The guy was loved and respected by all sides. Working-class to his core and a damned good bloke. RIP Prezza!

Rumour has it that Morgan still resides in the back pocket of his trousers
Legend of a man
RIP John Prescott, a giant against todays pygmies in parliament. A raconteur, and humorous politician. From a non Labour voter.
should have added when he teased William Hague "The Tories have got so green they started recycling their leaders"
"John Prescott immediately swang round and landed a punch straight on his jaw"...lol
God rest his soul - like him or not, he was a big personality. I will be missed.

I didn't agree with him on many policies but he was a great example of a humanised politician

R.I.P. John Prescott 🪦✝️
The sad thing is that Boris and farage have used him to create false personalities
RIP to the last of the old school politicians. He had faults but he was usually honest
We still have The Beast Of Bolsover Denis Skinner.
2 Jags RIP
I remember the jip he got for owning two British cars. If he were a Tory or far right, the oligarchy would have bought him a third and kept it quiet.
Socialist hypocrisy.
Titan 🙌🏼
This didn't even include his 'punch and judy' tussle with.Hague at the dispatch box. Pure brilliance. Shows how many highlights he gave us
fastest hands in Westminster
TH-cam goldmine awaits: Top Gear, HIGNFY .. the man was fearless. RIP
Brilliant. RIP🙏
6:50 a hearty laugh out loud moment 😂
They don't make them like Two Jags anymore
Brilliant miss the good old days like this John was so down to earth great man God Bless John
The majority of MPs have entered politics after a spell in a profession; he was one of the few who didn't.

You should have added his top gear interview as well, funny as hell
Proper impressed he made it to 86. He looked like a heart attack waiting to happen. RIP...
this man should be PM now, sadly that won’t happen. R.I.P John “Two Jabs” Prescott

Mr. Prescott would have brought a sense of fun to the office of PM if he got to be PM

I would love to have seen Mike Amesbury and John Prescott have a fight in the ring
I liked him, he was no nonsense. Spoke his mind and I like that
They should bring back the text at the bottom of pmqs in the last clip
That's a broadcast for American TV
@573lbt ah ok, didn't that used to be on UK coverage too though? Either way they should add it
RIP John Prescott
2:34 Ngl I kinda agree
RIP John Prescott.
Legend
Didn't agree with much of his politics, but he was a bloody good politician, rare breed and a man of principle.
A real maverick.

John Prescott in a lot ways reminds me of Australian PM Bob Hawke

I'm certainly not a Labour man (look at the state of them these days) but John Prescott had 'clout' as they say in the North.
RIP Punchy Prescott.
Social justice when it meant something
