I still have a Daiwa G 9, the predecessor to the BG series also have the BG 15 and 20 and the recent BG 4000 and 4500. These spinners are work horses and never failed on me. The one thing about the G9 and older BGs is that corrosion from the saltwater seems unavoidable especially on the spool. I wash the reels after fishing but somehow the spools still have a little corrosion and it would be very troublesome to take out all of the line to rinse off whatever saltwater that may be left on it. I use only monofilament so I'm thinking that braided may be more of a problem because as braided line gets used it may start fraying and absorbing water. The newer BG 4000 and 4500 shows no problem so far regarding corrosion.

I've been inshore fishing a pair of 2500 BG's on BG system matching rods. Four years now, they have not missed a beat with minimal maintenance.
I have one and trying to add 20/lb shimano power pro and its spooling uneven .
