- Dragon Ball Z Kakarot 2024 review - reviewed on PC
Throughout the years we've had so many different Dragon Ball games, ranging from my childhood favourite Budokai 1-3, the Tenkaichi games that people LOVED, and even some Gameboy ones that i will admit weren't bad for what they were. The last dragon ball game I covered on my channel was Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, a game where you create your own character in the Dragon Ball Universe, and do a bit of Back to the Future where you go back in time in the Dragon Ball Time-line and prevent changes from being made and ruining the time line. It was and still is one of my personal favourite Dragon Ball games, with the ability to create your own character, play them your way and all races having a transformation ability was brilliant.
BUT - there was another Dragon Ball game that released after Xenoverse 2 that many, including myself consider to be the best way re-experience the story of Dragon Ball Z without watching 18 episodes of Goku charging up a spirit bomb against his fight with Freiza, and its Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

I feel like this game is so close to great but the combat really brings it down for me, especially when the enemies turn red and just eat your attacks and don't flinch.
Yeah that's fair my dude
Same. The open world part I absolutely love, but the combat gameplay is just too repetitive for my liking
The combat made me quit this game immediately. Dog shit...
Budokai 3 is still the best dbz game ever made.
Oh it was wicked my dude. One of my fav PS2 games
BASED
Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters
- Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down)
- Fusions mid-battle
- Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel
- Tons of extra content
- Story mode covering all sagas + movies
- What If sagas
- Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot)
- Great tournaments that rotate availability
- Edit characters with items (buffs)
- 5v5 battles
- Really Great and Epic Soundtracks
- Destroyable environments
- Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives
- Mission 100 being a great challenge
- Artwork is 10/10
- Sound effects are great
- Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World and the Raging Blast 1 and 2 and all of PSP DBZ games except of Dragon Ball Z Evolution are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective.
Put some respect on budokai tenkaichi 2
💯
Hey, on the topic of the wanting the cutscenes to have different music I've actually edited all but one (Didn't feel it needed any changes),
Stuff that I fixed were
- changing and or removing certain lines the dub added that make no sense, don't need, or didn't match what the original japanese scene entailed (i.e Vegitos iconic ALRIGHT, dub made it a dull "alright now" so I've replaced it with the proper line and cadence from his FighterZ line)
- Making the lines being said match the characters lips more closely (They didn't try to match them, they just slapped the dub voicelines where the jp ones were and called it a day)
- and obviously changed music, to fit the moments more appropriately mostly taking inspiration from Teamfourstars DBZA but if you like the falconer score you'll like my ssj3 cutscene
- and SFX, in the cases where I've replaced the music I have had to replace the SFX from scratch because the audio track for SFX and music are one in the same. So while doing so I took the liberty of improving certain SFX or adding SFX that should have been present (i.e Goku going ssj2 but the sfx of lightning isn't present)
heres a playlist of all my cutscenes, link to download them will be ink the description leading you to Nexusmods :)

I know this game wasn't the be-all-and-end-all for a lot of fans, but I am still grateful it exists.
I grew up a die hard DB & DBZ fan in the 90s-early 2000s. I remember being a kid and wishing for an open world DBZ game forever.
The Legacy of Goku series was the closest thing I ever got to that, and I cherished those dearly when growing up.
DBZ Kakorot more or less felt like the big gen version of those when I played it.
It's not perfect, but it was still a satisfying experience simply because it was the closest to giving me what I wished for as a kid.
Exactly this
I really under appreciated the game when it first came out. It’s still a bit repetitive but truly a love letter to dbz fans
With beam struggles, best way to counter is to use the slow motion that happens when you go to use a super. The moment you see a large line appear aiming at you, quickly use a beam attack. You can do this infinitely as the slow motion doesn't sto so you can easily counter attacks.
Wow great content! Keep it up
Cheers mate

The best way to re experience dragon ball is to read it trust me
As someone who is reading dragon ball for the first time, I agree 100%
Not sure if the mechanic has changed but eventually you will upgrade the dragon from two to three wishes. At this point, possibly before idr, once u summon shenron and makebur wish and travel out the area, the balls are reset instantly to collect again its ike within seconds bulma is hitting us up to go get them again lol
I love this game. hope they keep going with DLCs.
The Austin powers clip killed 😅me
Ha ha glad you enjoyed it mate!
This game is a masterpiece. Hopefully we get dlc or a sequel for super this year! 🔥🏆🔥👏
There's a new dragon ball game recently announced (it's name escapes me)
Cheers for checking out my other videos too my dude
Sparking zero, it's the BT4 we have all(ps1 and on kids) have been waiting for. Should be here q4 24.. but there is a 3rd season pass for dbz kakarot planned
Until sparking zero comes out, for NOW, yes.
I will be reviewing that
This is easily an all time favorite. I can nitpick it to hell like I can about literally any game but overall it was just incredible and fresh for dbz games. Long before this game was ever announced I said for years my ideal perfect dbz game would essentially be the legacy of Goku series getting remade on main consoles. I feel like I got that plus more with this game. Even down to the side mission of helping roshi find his magazines in the beginning and being named kakarot just like legacy of Goku was named after him, the legacy of Goku inspiration for this game is undeniable. This was a literal dream come true getting this game regardless of some issues it may have.
Hope my video did one of your favorite games justice mate
Legacy of Goku is the Gamebow Advanced game yeah?
RB2 will always be the GOAT for me.
My issues were:
・In the story sometimes the skips are just huh?! I understand cutting out the fillers, but Trunks vs Cell?
Especially with the Buu saga, felt like the devs run out of time.
・Sidequests. They are fun, but most of them have you travel to different areas so yeah, loading times. On the Switch they so long that I could make a cereal while waiting.
・(Not Kakarot specific)Voice acting. During side stuff, the npcs repeat the same line
・Battlewise, enemy hyperarmour is just a joke. And even in surge mode, you won't have that.
Also those battle only cutscenes cancel out your attacks, like genki dama etc
Overall fun little game, as a DB fun, I liked it.
👀 oh, you mean this one? Nice.
I can't remember where I went cold with this game. Pretty sure it's between Frieza and Cell rn because I vaguely remember going super Saiyan. Maybe I need to do more dragon summons or something, IDK.
Enemies having body armor 24/7 and having attack cutscenes that interrupt your attacks is what made me do the battle of gods dlc and max out all characters before playing the game for the 1st time. 😂
Kakarot rewards you for being high lvl and not being good at the game so … I did not regret it haha
That's fair my dude
If this game had Budokai Tenkaichi gameplay it would’ve been the best Dragon ball game 💯
Def difference in opinions on the characters, if I didn’t get to play as gohan the game would have been a wash
chiki dragon ball z kakarot how to use this item in how to botton use the item ps4
Love kakarot but sometimes the combat feels a little repetitive & the frame rate is a less crisps if you play it on switch
I really liked this game, I just finished it and I really had a great time, I really don't understand the bashing behind this game after yes the game and not perfect especially in terms of non-mission combat which they very repetitive and there is a lot of filling for nothing, for example picking up objects that are of no use.
I would just like something that they put in Dragon Ball, but when Kid Goku.
I'm loving this game, but it needs a deep DLC/Prequel focused on the original Dragon Ball.
it does my dude - came out middle/late 2023 from memory - its not all of dragon ball, but it does change up the combat
I wasn’t interested in Kakarot as I feel like a lot of Dragon Ball games I played kept reliving the DBZ saga but I do love the open world exploration and the graphics are fantastic. Makes me wish Xenoverse 2’s Conton City was more bigger and more mini conents for my characters to feel more alive and take screenshots. Also, I think this game could work for a gamer who never grew up with Dragon Ball and wanted to get into it without watching the anime.
Which is a better game overall? Kakarot or Xenoverse 2?
Ohhh good question my dude. For re-experiencing the story of DBZ Kakarot. For making your own footprint in DBZ/making your own character then Xenoverse
@DudiReviews nice, what about the fighting/combat would u prefer the one over the other?
@@JustinShakur hmmm. If I want something casual then Xenoverse. It's got button bash fun. Kakarot can be challenging especially if you don't do side missions and eat before fights
True I like doing no Z orb runs. 💪
Neither of them they both trash
It’s definitely not open world. There’s biomes. It’s “semi-open world but definitely not full on open world.
But this review was made last year…
I really, REALLY, Dislike the combat, and is not like I can't enjoy a good RPG with unsatisfiying combat, I love F3 and New Vegas, but the RPG part is lacking for me at least as well.
With unsatisfying in fallout I mean shooting, the gore is top notch
Personally
It shouldn't have been a dbz game tbh
Should've been a dragon quest rpg or some other open world rpg that uses the akira toriyama art style
But its whatevs
Sounds like You'll enjoy Sandland then, which is basically this but made by Akira as well
Them ps2 games ages very poorly people, dont cry a new one is coming soon
Kakarot was a major disappointment.. flying was mid, music was mid. Legacy of goku 1/2 was better
Didn't know opposite day was a thing
I never forget to play with my self.
Haha - well disregard the reminders at the end of each of my videos
