    Your videos make me so happy. Everytime I check back on your channel and see a new video uploaded, it's already been 2 months. Crazy how fast time flies. And it's also amazing to finally have such amazing off grid kind content where I don't have to see people smiling while consuming animal corpses. Such a breathe of fresh air to have such an amazing channel not support animal abuse.

    I’m so happy you gave us old timers from Pepsi days a heads up about this channel. I had been watching all till you got to Scandinavia and I guess the algorithm changed and it just sorta fell away. I’m absolutely just delighted and awe struck at that Orca AND THEN THE POD! Wow! Wow. Thank you for sharing. I’ll be sure to keep your channel in rotation. Best of luck in all you are doing.

      It's no problem at all 💖 thank you for sticking around and for your kind words! I was just as wowed by the orca and then the dolphins, so I completely understand how you feel.
      Also, to be fair, I changed my type of content on my old channel and many people were no longer shown my videos. It's one of the reasons that I started fresh with this channel 😊 also, just so you know, Pepsi is still with us! He's turning 13 in a couple of weeks and is happy and thriving!

    How could you leave such a beautiful place??

    • @simplytarah
      @simplytarah  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I married a Dane and we needed to live somewhere 😅 immigrating to Canada would be impossible because I have a disability and couldn't support Lukas, which is a requirement for a Canadian looking to have their spouse immigrate.
      But honestly, I'm glad I left. The cost of living on Vancouver Island is so high that it would be unlivable for us - an average house is over a million dollars and the food costs are now higher than the most expensive countries I've ever been to - Norway and Switzerland. Most people I know are either moving away, living in debt, or working 60+ hours a week to afford basic expenses. Even when I used to live there, the discrepancy between the wages and cost of living made it barely possible to even get by.
      As beautiful as it may be, no place is beautiful enough to justify living on the poverty level.
      In contrast, Scandinavia has a high standard of living, our cottage costed a tiny fraction of a house in Canada, and we still have access to so much beautiful nature in Sweden, Norway and Finland, but with a stable system that cares for everyone, where no one has to struggle, financially or otherwise.

    • @simplytarah
      @simplytarah  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's not only what I mentioned in my last comment, but British Columbia is up in flames from spring through autumn, with out of control wildfires burning down entire towns. And people can't even get wildfire insurance, so you're at risk of losing everything if you live in BC. It's a tale I've heard too many times to even entertain the idea of moving there again. Many people are becoming climate refugees, needing to flee north or into the prairies.
      There's always context to everything, and as much as a part of me will always be in British Columbia, I wouldn't trade anything for the stability and life we've created in Denmark, with the freedom to explore the wilderness in our camper, and the cozy home we have

    • @Maybe.later1
      @Maybe.later1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@simplytarah Thanks for explaining, I didn't know all of that☺️ I thought, you were living in Sweden. I lived in Denmark for a few years, too. Living there is really great, but I lived near Copenhagen and I missed the nature, I grew up in too much. So now I'm back in South Germany🤷 Wish you all of the best!

      @@simplytarah Btw, I was once on vacation in Norway and I totally ran out of money😂

    • @simplytarah
      @simplytarah  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Maybe.later1 I completely understand that, not many people know! I also relate to missing the nature and wilderness while living in Denmark. We're an hour outside of Copenhagen and even though we live in a rural village, the nature is nothing like that in the rest of the nordic countries!
      I did live in Sweden for 2 years and I'd move back in a heartbeat if I could, but we can only legally live in Denmark 😊
      I've heard the south of Germany is beautiful so I can understand why you would want to live there!

    Amazing for you. Especially after having witnessed the death of the animals in Japan. I first had searched you out after seeing you fleeing from the approaching tsunami and that still left me with question marks about that experience. I didn't know why you were in Japan and now I know why, thanks for adding that info. I was there for 4 years in a totally different situation and I've tried to put myself in your shoes imagining how I would have reacted to the approaching then continuing disaster. It was probably the end of your time there and it probably ended your time prematurely. At least now I can piece that together.

    • @simplytarah
      @simplytarah  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't realize that people didn't know! I went to Japan 3 times, the first to Taiji, and the second time we began in Taiji but the dolphin killing ended. So, we headed north to Otsuchi to attempt to document the slaughter of dall's porpoises. 2 days later the tsunami happened and Otsuchi was decimated. I then returned to Japan a 3rd time (5 months after the tsunami) where I was let in but only after being detained in a cell and questioned. They later banned me from entering the country again, like many other activists.
      But either way, it was such a joy to see dolphins alive and happy!
