Thank you for this beautiful and inspiring video 💚 You describe really well what camping alone is. Learning and getting to know yourself. I myself have very similar experiences and I am glad to see that others have similar experiences. I'm so glad I found your channel!
i also find pressure to hit these high numbers a day but honestly i end up missing out on so much that is around me and am really learning to slow down and take it all in
I really felt the same way - It's the same when I go on hiking trips. I'd way rather slow down and enjoy the experience instead of trying to rush through it
@@johanf9279 I wish I could, but my bike frame is a tad too small, and if doesn't allow me to sit farther forward. It's just my specific frame that's built a little differently
I am glad you enjoyed your trip! And who cares how fast or how much you cycle in a day? Everybody has their own pace, this is not a competition. Maybe a (boomer?) idea for your next adventure: I ALWAYS bring a good old map on paper on my trips and hardly ever navigate using electronic devices, precisely because I know from experience that those can fail. Paper maps make you so much more independent.
That's what I was thinking! Ultimately, no one is having this experience aside from me, so why not make it enjoyable for myself? I wish I could navigate with a paper map, but one of the issues I deal with, being autistic, is that my sense of direction is non existent. The only thing I could use a paper map for is as shade from the sun 😂
Hi, i am watching from india. Very candid about your experience. It was refreshing. Keeping camera at a place, recording and then coming back to collect is a pain. Isn't it?😊
Nice video! Excellent approach and great attitude about problems you encountered. You can usually tell what's uphill vs downhill on a map by which way the creeks and/or topo lines are gathering, (Vs point downhill) but the map wasn't showing any. lol.
Great video, beautiful setting. Some advice, those thin, flexible shoes are horrific for bike riding. Find a stiffer soles shoe for more efficacy. Keep up the good work and riding😊
Thank you 😊 I appreciate the advice, but I use VIbram five fingers for all of my outdoor rec and have exclusively for 10+ years! I just don't wear regular shoes, especially anything with a stiff sole, unless we're talking about winter boots. I completely understand that it may not be ideal for cycling, but I'm okay with that.
Excellent video, thank you for sharing. I'm too old now for loading touring now, however, back in the day that was my favorite type of cycling. For me it was a completely different mindset than road cycling or riding around town. While loading touring I wasn't obsessed with speed, rather I was taking in the sights and smelling the roses. You have some rather nice gear for your bikepacking trip. I hope you do many more and share them with us.
Thank you 💖 I completely agree. I could never really get into casual cycling, but when there's a purpose behind it, like going on an adventure and carrying everything with you, I really love it! I did a lot of research into the gear, and I've been really happy with the setup. I'll also definitely be sharing more cycling adventures!
Thanks! Sweden is amazing that way, there's tons of cycling trails and routes to follow! I hope you find a route close to home, because it's a great time.
@@simplytarah There is, but I´m still successfully avoiding the urge 😄 But hey, Sweden, a Canadian and bikepacking. My 3 favorite things in one video. Needless to say, I loved the video, thank you! 😄
@@rkivlogi Best of luck to you 😂 But, if you choose to come over to the dark side, I promise it's actually enjoyable! There's even an app called Merlin where you can identify the various bird sounds. For future trips, you should consider getting a couple of battery packs and a solar charger. That way you can charge your electronics while riding and at campsite. Don't know how serious you are about bikepacking and cycling in general but if you are, you may want to consider a bike computer. They have similar functions depending on the model (minus making/receiving phone calls) and GPS and navigation plus the battery life is much better than a cell phone.
We've already upgraded our setup, with lighter weight and longer lasting battery banks, and one has a solar charger. We're definitely on the same page with this! I want to get into longer, more involved trips, so it was needed. In this trip, I was a little less prepared because I was closer to home and didn't expect the battery bank to die, but my hubby and I have already been on another trip since this, and the power situation was a lot better. I hadn't thought of a bike computer, though. I'll look into it and thanks for the suggestion!
Great little adventure. Sweden is an incredible country. The hills and lakes are so peaceful and beautiful. Been travelling in Sweden nearly every year since 94.
@@Straitjacket808 thank you ☺️ I love Sweden too! I used to live there and I really enjoy going back. Do you visit any place in particular that you'd recommend?
@@simplytarah I love Central Sweden along the Vag 45 and all the little roads that come off it. Jokkmokk and the road near Pojus in Northern Sweden that heads towards Sarek mountains are some of my favourites. Basically Lapland is my favourite. Lovely peaceful wild camping and quiet roads. First visit I spent 4 months cycling and camping in the forest.
We'd like to invite you to ride your bike in and around The Special Territory of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. We have several types of tracks available, including gravel single tracks.
Honestly, I feel so safe anywhere in Scandinavia, there's so little crime, especially in the countryside of Sweden or Norway. Many times, there aren't people around at all, and there's not really any dangerous wildlife, so it ends up being pretty peaceful. I was much more nervous that someone might steal my bike, or something like that, at the campsite in Sweden where there were lots of people!
I was wondering why I haven't been seeing any content from you in a couple of years in my subscriptions feed and started wondering if you were still present on YT or social media. Then I searched "fruity below thirty" on YT but there was nothing. Then I went on to Google, still nothing. Then I tried "thirty bellow fruity", "twenty bellow fruity", "fruity below twenty" and finally I remembered it was "40 below fruity". From your last video on that channel, I found a link to this one. So glad I found it, I'm gonna binge watch your new videos tonight to keep up with the good content.
I'm sorry that you had to search all of those names to find it 🙈 in hindsight it was such an obscure name, but it's based off of how we say temperatures in Canada. Anything below zero degrees is said "five below", "twenty below", and I had no idea that this wasn't the same outside of Canada 😅 I thought it was a such a clever name at the time haha. 40 below fruity essentially meant eating fruit while living in the freezing cold. Anyways, I felt like I needed a fresh start a few years ago, so I started this channel 🥰 but maybe I should make an update on my old channel to share where I've been! Thank you for sticking around 💖 I really appreciate your support ☺️
I meant, the unexpected twists and turns, as in things that don't go according to plan. I'm autistic, so a change of plans, or last minute, unexpected things popping up can cause me a huge amount of distress. CBD doesn't have THC, so it's just very soothing and helps me deal with those kind of situations.
Honestly, because I have ADHD, I expected to be bored, but I wasn't at all. Of course, I was filming, so there's a lot of thought put into what I might film, what shots I can get, assessing my surroundings...etc. I was occupied with where I could possibly charge my phone, what meals I was going to have, and just enjoying the environment around me. I guess that might work in my favour, because my thoughts bounce around so continuously that my mind is never a boring place 😅 But with cycling in general, you're so focused on navigating, and being in control of the bike, as well as the terrain, that it's easy to be engaged.
Thank you 😊 Oh definitely! In this case, unfortunately it was fully dead, but I've since upgraded and have longer lasting, lighter battery banks, and one has a solar charger to hopefully avoid situations like this in the future. Thankfully it wasn't too cold out there, but we definitely plan on doing longer trips where it can get colder, so it's good to keep in mind either way.
I'm from Canada 😅 I lived and camped for over a decade in British Columbia, where there's bears, cougars, lynx, moose and wolves. I actually feel safer around them than people, tbh, and I really miss being around so much wildlife!
