    I ride mine daily on the interstate at 70 to 80 mph with no problems whatsoever. I've done 90 plus for an hour a couple of times. It has NO problem maintaining. Got 53.2 mpg from my last tank. Can't beat 'em! Mine is an 06.

    Good video! Let the bike and passing scenery do all the talking. I think a lot of bikers (like any consumer) gets sucked in to the ego stuff of bigger and faster. My first bike was a Honda 350 and I loved riding it. Brakes weren't the best, but it didn't go all that fast anyway. Yet I loved riding it. I've got a 650 vstrom that I ride and commute with, but I'm craving a cruiser. This video helped.

I do wish that it had a 6th gear though as sometimes you definitely feel it missing but all in all great bike, very low maintenance, looks badass and get compliments on it all the time! the transition to larger cc bikes by all factories.. plus the average person believing anything under 1liter is tiny and weak.
      Most bikes that are 500-600cc’s and over have few problems keeping up with traffic on the hiways.

    Nice riding. I still enjoy my 2005 S83 Boulevard to this day. Cheap insurance and reliable transportation for daily commuting to work, and some weekend cruising with my friends. I get asked alot by friends when I am buying a HD...I always say I'm perfectly happy riding my Suzuki for the money spent..Then I bust on them when my "little" cu engine gives those big Harleys a real hard time when have a little roll on fun for a fraction of the cost...I only added Vance and Hines pipes and a Dynojet kit years ago mostly to smooth out the low end lean spot off idle for the carbs and a little more noise for the cars...Very fun for a 2hr ride or so, and even when I put my big old ugly windshield on the bike in the colder months I can highway as long as my body can handle the seat...I'm 50...it still looks and runs as new so I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon....Would like to try out a C90 sometime though...your M50 is every bit as fast as my S83 and probably even more top speed surprisingly is what I read. My 1400 is the old Intruder with a ton of torque, but it has 3 valve heads and carbs and the 800 engine gets more high end rpm and speed even with less hp and torque...They are all great bikes that Suzuki made through these years and shouldn't be avoided at all...Great used deals are to be had for $3500 range for a like new motorcycle that will last anyone years....sorry for the book..hahaha...you ride the hwy like me....throttle past blind spots and cars weaving..a trooper followed me off an off ramp last summer and pulled into the gas station behind me...we talked for a minute and he mentioned me doing 90mph to get away from crazy cages...He said I wasn't about to pull you over as I would do the same thing....cool cop!

    • @ohwell2790
      @ohwell2790 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And you might add the S83 you never have to adjust the valves as they are self adjusting and is a huge plus.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the 800 they are a night mare to get to.

    • @Stu650Zuk
      @Stu650Zuk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, its great not to have to adjust the valves on the 1360cc S83. I don't mind checking and adjusting clearances at all, but on these bikes, as you said its a nightmare. Just cleaning the carbs is a nightmare on these bikes. I always make sure I run it dry with the fuel valve turned to off before I put it up for the winter months. I did drill out the caps for the idle speed mixture as they are factory lean to pass emissions...typical flat lean spot off idle. Technically this adjustment should be done on a warm engine while it is running...Impossible on this bike the way the carbs are buried in there. I hated setting them both by what Dynojet suggested as all bikes are different to a point and by elevation..Surprisingly it did very well being 2.5 turns out each from lightly seated, also with the new Dynojet real adjustable needles with a proper taper, and with the stage 1 kit it didn't include any main jets. I purchased two each for each carb by half size increments. I also left the airboxes alone as with CV carbs at highway speeds the airflow coming in from holes can actually make the slides flutter and hurt performance more than help it..I did drill out the holes in the slides with the included drill bit to help them open quicker..It all worked very well with my simple V&H slip ons. I only went up 2.5 on the main jets and its maintained its high end rpm and speed without running lean..While they are a pain to work on, at least I can still do it without an expensive tuner or flash by a shop....I would love to switch out the carbs to two flatslide pumper carbs instead..I put those on many a HD for friends in the early years...they did nothing but grin when they hit the throttle and it did one of two things..spin the rear tire, or doing a power wheelie...hahaha!

      Manoj Kurup I must somewhat agree and disagree my friend. Yes you are right this bike performs very well on back roads better than highway speeds. However, I personally never had any issues keeping up with traffic or avoiding the occasional trying to run me off the roads folks. Not that you mentioned it by any means but worth a mention. Let’s bare in mind this bike is in the midsize class. Not a bad bike for entry or as second bike at all. With that being said I definitely wouldn’t try staying at high speed with this bike but they do get around pretty well for their size. Back roads are a beauty with these bikes for sure I will agree. M90 or M109R would do best on highways. We all have different skills, to some it suits them well to others it’s not the greatest. But for the size it’s a beauty to ride my friend. Happy back road riding indeed.

    I've got family about 3 hours away, and about 90% of that is all highway, with a 75mph speed limit. Do you think the M50 would be able to hang?

    • @centralrider5690
      @centralrider5690  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      not sure if I would want to make a 3 hour ride with the m50 but if you're asking me if the m50 can hang in highway traffic speeds Id say yes but 3 hours would be to much for me unless taking some back roads lol.

    • @RRMikeP

      That makes sense. I can tool around locally on one until I bite the bullet and get a bagger. Now, convincing the wife to spend $15k + for something with less than four wheels is a whole other issue. Shit. Also, while I was already eyeballing the M50, and I liked what I was seeing, I think this video just sealed the deal for me, so thanks for posting.

      The M50 Boulevards are about $8,500 US ,, lot less than $15k , I'm looking at getting the VZ 800 Boulevard ( 2006 ) model with 26,000 miles on it and it will still cost $5,500 AUS Dollars for me Arrrrg

    • @MrMambott
      @MrMambott 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And the M50 will take you down the Hiway at traffic speeds all day and comfy too , no worries at all , but like all mid size cruisers when your on 75mph it will feel like you want a 6th gear ,, my sports bike has six gears and at 70mph feels like it needs 7th gear lol

    What kind of fairing is on that bike of yours?

    • @centralrider5690
      @centralrider5690  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elijah Butterfield I don’t recall the exact brand on windscreen but there are two types a taller one and shorter. One on this bike is the shorter one and if I had to take a stab on brand I would have to say National. No longer own this bike I have another one as cafe racer project.

      I had windscreen ordered and installed by dealer at the time of purchase. Windscreen is by National Cycle I believe there are two types if I remember correctly.

    they will go 100 mph maybe 110 ..to ride them at 80//85 for long distance is not a great idea our highways have a 75 mph rate traffic runs 80//85 short distance is one thing 200 miles at 85 in a shot is another..

      Had mine (05) going 109mph last week, with a big ass windshield and saddle bags and me being 205lbs, could’ve got maybe another 4-5mph but ran out of straight roads

  • @The66Leadfoot
    @The66Leadfoot 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The bike will keep up but that 5-speed makes the bike work too hard at highway speeds.

  • @blackspades0000
    @blackspades0000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cons: No power, Expensive, Poor rear suspension, gas guzzler, you will get run over by every car on the highway above 50MPH, and pegs will drag during simple turns.

    • @centralrider5690
      @centralrider5690  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      blackspades0000 it depends on the person. For me is ok not to weak not to strong. Anyone looking for a weekend enjoyable ride this is it for others looking into going 100mph this is not for them. If you’re a beginner or intermediate rider this bike does just fine for the more experienced they may want something different. I know several riders with many years under their belt who enjoy intermediate level bikes as the M50. If you’re looking or wanting to be a part of the street stigma then this and other bikes in its class are not for you. Video is just showing that bike moves pretty good for its size not about how fast can it go.
