    Great outside styling, great inside cabin, great engine. This is one of the best full size cars built. Good honest review too!

      +Dukiny Gaming Again, Chargers have and always will have, suspect quality build. Again, what is the logic of a V8 when they have the Chevy SS or the Buick LaCross AWD?

    • @Bartonovich52
      @Bartonovich52 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Less than 10% of Chargers built have a V8 and the V6 Chargers are heavier, have less room, and are slower.

    You can't go wrong with a GM car these days. They have all been reliable since New GM was instated. Love my '12 Acadia AWD. This new Chevy looks like a beauty. I really hope they offer AWD on this in the near future, I would consider it when the lease is up on the GMC.

    Great review. I did test drive 3 of these 2014's. The LT and LTZ. Looks aside, Chevy stepped up the game for this model, but as usual, there are a couple irritating items none of which should deter sales for this car. The shiny exterior appliques between the windows should be a matte finish (may blister like the 07-08 Lacrosse’s). Plastic wood like interior trim could be better. Better road dampening from the front end would be good. Resale value? Hmm. Looks are nice, quality to be determined.

    This isn't supposed to be a sport sedan. Americans don't want that. Most americans nowadays just want something big and comfy that gets decent gas milage. Also I noticed you mentioned the crown vic in your previous comment. That car was horribly underpowered despite having a rwd V8 setup. Either way I test drove the new impala and it felt sporty enough without having rwd. Test drive one and you'll be surprised.

    Steve the only thing I don't like about this car is that its Front Wheel Drive....that's my only gripe....i feel its size is reminiscent of the 98 impala and it looks manly....sigh...but that FWD....ugghhh

  • @TekTrekgamer

    The new Impala looks great but with such shoddy fuel economy it's not a game changer. The interior is chasing the Koreans in terms of quality but lacks vision. The steering wheel looks like it belongs in a pickup truck. This car should also be RWD and the fact that it isn't will preclude it from being bought up as a Police car as well.

  • @bmwmsport11
    @bmwmsport11 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The only thing I would change is the steering wheel. It looks out of place and ugly.

    Hey Steve. I enjoyed your review but shook my head a little when you mentioned the "harsh ride". If your throw 20" rims on any car (no matter the tire brand) the lack of sidewall you trade off is going to give you a rougher ride due to less rubber and sidewall absorbing the road. I'd say the 18" or 19" rims are the way to go on this vehicle.

  • @76carmel
    @76carmel 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Steve -- you thought the ride was a little jarring. I think a lot of car makers are guilty of trying to make any vehicle "sporty" when it doesn't have to be. This Impala is what another car reviewer said, "A Boulevard Cruiser designed for long distance." I like this Chevy looks. Yes, the classic big sedan is back, and this Impala will lead the way. I think the ones who want a V8 and RWD are stuck in the 60s.

  • @Rtvoll
    @Rtvoll 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    What? Underpowerd v6? Did you not hear him say that it goes 0-60 in 6 seconds. Thats a full second faster then the 90s rwd v8 impala. This thing is faster and better built then any impalas of the past. So what difference would rwd make?

  • @sage11x
    @sage11x 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jesus-- 6 sec 0-60 time in a massive sedan with a naturally aspirated V6 channeled through a plain ol' torque converter automatic. I owned two SHOs from the 90s that weren't this fast with do-it-yourself shifters and exotic motors. Progress is amazing! :)

    Hey Steve, Harshness? It may be but you have the top 20 inch thin wheels on it. You should try what most people will buy, ones with the 18 and 19 inch tires. I test drove one twice with the 19 inch tires and thought it was very smooth and super quiet. Handled the rough stuff quite well. Harsh is what I would call the new Toyota Avalon's ride. All the newer cars are going away from float to a more composed and assured ride. Somethings gotta give. Nice review as always.

  • @ThEsHeEn117
    @ThEsHeEn117 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This car, the new Camaro and Stingray, and the new SS coming out soon really just make me go WOW, what a change in the quality of vehicles. Couple that with the good track ford has been on and the emerging Chrysler lineup and American autos are looking very good.

  • @flexonthadevil
    @flexonthadevil 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why? Just because it's a V8? The new 3.6 Liter V6 gets 305 HP to the wheels ( 06-09 Impala SS got 303) while the avg fuel economy with the new 3.6 will be around 19-21 mpg city and hwy combined. while the V8 in the 06-09 only got 15-18 mpg combine. I know this because I bought a 2006 Chevy Impala SS when they first changed the body style from the 00-05 box look.. I then Test drove the fully loaded 2LTZ and its a more powerful car, rides better, and looks better with wayyyyyy more features.

  • @Rtvoll
    @Rtvoll 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    When I saw this in person I honestly couldn't believe it was a Chevy. Huge improvement, I would buy one if I had the money. Btw I have read other reviews that say the 19s are the way to go. The 20's cut to much into the ride.

  • @tubeyou443
    @tubeyou443 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I see some resemblance to the Mercedes S-Class steering wheel. It seems odd but I still think it is better than the generic Opel wheel used through out the entire GM lineup for most vehicles.

  • @The.Dude.Abides.
    @The.Dude.Abides. 11 ปีที่แล้ว

If your throw 20" rims on any car (no matter the tire brand) the lack of sidewall you trade off is going to give you a rougher ride due to less rubber and sidewall absorbing the road. I'd say the 18" or 19" rims are the way to go on this vehicle.

  • @WNYfellow
    @WNYfellow 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    A very good review, Steve! I think that 'rough ride' might result from the 20" wheels - I believe some of the lower models (LT & LS) have smaller wheels. It matters to me because I live in the Buffalo-Niagara area - land of rough roads. I'll also mention that the Impala can be had for less then $39K, which is Lexus ES territory. I priced one on thee Chevy website at $31K approximately - which is fine because most folks would think twice about a near $40K Chevy.

    I would say redesign the back. It looks too big and stiff. They should have design the back with the looks of the Audi since the front looks similar to the Audi.

    I remember when I first got the chance to see and feel this exact model in person, I told myself, there is no other option but to get the fully loaded model. It seems as though every other buyer had the same sentiments because all I see on the road are LTZ models. #BRAVOChevy

      The true full size Impala that has less interior room and cargo space thanks to a large longitudinally mounted engine, a huge transmission tunnel, an annoying driveshaft hump, an intrusive solid rear axle... and is slower because it’s heavier and they lied about horsepower numbers (google SAE Gross vs SAE Net)?
      Cooler? Yeah.. but definitely not something you’d want to daily in the 21st century.

      +Dukiny Gaming Why the 'need' for 8-speed and a V8? I've never understood that logic. This V6 at six speeds gets more HP and better gas mileage than the early 90s V8 powered, rear wheel drive Impala everyone loves.
