    This is one of the better driving cars I've ever driven. I'd take this over a Toyota and Honda anyday.

    The moment I saw the new design of this car I fell in love with it. It's going to be a couple of years before I'm able to get my license but I would want this to be my first car so bad

      If it was just rwd alone would do it for me. I got one and honeslty i hate the driving expereience it feels super weird and wobbly like im on jello and im thinking the combination of it being a fwd and a long full size sedan is what causes that, handles funny.

    This car is beautiful. I have owned Impalas since 1996. I had a 96, a 2002, then a 2006, and I currently own a 2010 LTZ. I will be trading it off for a 2014 when they show up in dealerships.

    I haven't been more sick of any TH-cam ad than the one for this car. I saw one on the road today for the first time and although it s a nice car the first thing I thought of was how sick I am of the TH-cam commercials.

    I own 2 2014 Impalas -- a red tintcoat LTZ and an ash gray LT2. The LTZ was purchased in June, 2013 and the LT2 Sept. 2014. Overall both cars are great to drive. The LTZ has 20" rims and the LT2 19". Bad stuff first; radio slow to tune, blind spot at right front pillar,
    transmission downshifts are quite noticeable when hard braking -- seems like transmission is dragging behind. Four recalls for both cars are totally unacceptable. Also, in most cases, the entire "My Link" system has to be updated and then takes 3-4 hours to reboot. Really sucks! Gas mileage on both is 18.5 mpg in city and 22.5 highway. The car is quick & nimble -- the 305hp V6 is more than enough power. Brakes are excellent. Body style is a head-turner everywhere I go. Compared to a Cadillac, the '14 Impala is definitely the better choice and better value in my opinion.

  • @thenameisethang
    @thenameisethang 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The most powerful engine available in the new Impala actually produces 305 horsepower @ 6800 rpm., and 264 lb.- ft. of torque. Those are more impressive numbers than the 1996 Impala SS can offer. The 1996 Impala SS came with a 5.7L V8 and it only produced 260 hp @ 5000 rpm., and 330 ft-lbs. of torque @ 2400 rpm. It also obtained less miles per gallon. Don't get me wrong, the 1996 Impala SS was/is an amazing car. All I'm saying is, the new Impala isn't lacking as much as you perceive it to be.

  • @brianc9570
    @brianc9570 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is much sharper than the last Impala and better looking than the Taurus IMO. I hope it stays a flagship and doesn't sink to rental/fleet status like the last generation. The Cruze or base Malibu should be fleet vehicles before the Impala is. Pricing should help with that. Good job GM!

    We so-called enthusiast will always complain where Chevy fell short, but really Chevy put out a great new Impala. Their only problem now is to make it 'COOL' so young buyers will at least look at it. And after 14 years of the previous committee Impala, Chevy needs a slick ad.

  • @terrencet202
    @terrencet202 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    well ill start by saying that in my opinion, the design team at gm/chevy created one of the best LOOKING cars on the market (including foreigns) however sales figures as of late have (what ive read) become dangerously low. some have said its due to the market shifting towards smaller mid-sized sedans ( malibu). i agree with this claim partially but i believe its more to it, like power. gm made a very nice full-sized car inside and out, that can compete with the dodge charger, ford taurus etc. except when it comes to powertrain options. gm sold this big impala without an option for a v8(or at least a turbo), no awd option either. in doing this they completely leave out the market for a big family sedan with more power and awd, removing the impala from being able to properly compete with the charger and taurus. i do understand that more and more people wants eco friendly/smaller vehicles but there still is a specific market for the opposite (look at charger srt8 and taurus sho sales over the years). ive actually been hearing about some talk about gm discontinuing the impala in favor of the malibu, (sort of how they did with the lucerne and lacrosse in buicks lineup) i cant remember the sources but its just what ive heard. this explains the lack of advertising support for impala and more resources being used on the malibu. im a impala fan and plan on buying this '14-17 impala ltz... im just a little concerned about this rumored demise of it.

  • @Stressless2023
    @Stressless2023 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Because it was an antiquated, old-tech, crude & course engine. It was durable and wasn't terrible on gas (except for the supercharged versions), but GM was nearly the only automaker still producing OHV engines. They had to step their game up.

  • @thenameisethang
    @thenameisethang 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    According to Chevy, the most economical engine option in the new Impala achieves 25 city/35 hwy., and it offers only a little less horsepower than your Lesabre. The Impala's most powerful engine produces exactly 100 more horsepower (305) than your Lesabre, and it still attains better gas mileage at 19 city/29 hwy.

    Cost of this new Impala is between $30-$40,000? There are other NICER cars in this category and price range so I'll be renting the Impala.
    Great visuals in this video made the car look that much nicer so I have to hand it to TFL Car for the great presentation and to Chevrolet for being smart enough to showcase their new car in that beautiful environment.
    Thanks Roman and Nathan!

    It was a loaded model with 145K on it. All the service records. Plenty of life left, but a careful mechanical check is always a good thing.. Cause the LS can be BIG money to fix stuff if you have to have a mechanic do it.. I personally do my own repairs. I had a 94LS had 195K al the records from new, and it ran flawlessly. paid $5K for it. Sweet ride, still better than most new cars.

    The 1960's, 70's and 80's my dad swore by Chevrolet and in particular the Chevy Impala. Every 3 to 5 years he'd buy a new Impala. I would have preferred a little more variety but that was dad. While I could never get too excited with his choice (esp. when my cousin bought a Plymouth Roadrunner) I must admit that the best Impala we ever owned was a 1972 350 2bbl V8 Impala in Midnight Blue.
    Today's Impala pales in comparison: smaller, cheap looking and no V8. They cost more and offer much less.

    I have been driving and working on Chevrolet Impalas for several decades, but the first three minutes of this review tell me nearly nothing about this car. It is fun to watch if you like San Diego, but it would be better to focus on the vehicle. Many insiders know that the 2012 and 2013 Impalas provide much more bang for the buck, as they have the same powerful and refined V-6 engine and smooth, smart tranny as the 2014----unless you want all the digital toys for the kiddies. If you want a full-size car that will effortlessly cruise all day at 80 mph and provide great gas mileage, just pick up a 2013 and save ten to fifteen grand.

      I was thinking of buying a chevy Impala 2014 and I live in Canada, I love everything about it but I have one question how good is it in the snow?

    • @jukeboxeddie1
      @jukeboxeddie1 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have 2 '14 Impalas -- an LT2 with 19" wheels and an LTZ with 20" wheels. The 19" are more stable in the snow -- the 20" are totally useless in snow and your wheels will spin and go nowhere. While both cars are almost identical in specs and features, the LTZ with the larger rims are not designed well for snow and ice. It is a "fair weather" car meant for boulevard cruising and long distance driving. Stick to the 19" rims if you need to drive in snow and ice.

    • @jukeboxeddie1
      @jukeboxeddie1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't even compare the older Impalas to this new model. The older ones drove sloppy and were b-o-r-i-n-g... I've purchased 2 new Impalas every 2 years since 2000 so I have driven every model since 2000. This 2014 is the best by far.
      It is a "feature-rich" car and even if you purchase the lower end models, it is far superior to any that came before it. Yes, it is expensive -- an LT2 will set you back $36.5K and the LTZ $40K -- but it is definitely a 9 out of a 10. Nothing's perfect, but it is a lot of bang for the buck.

    • @bboucharde
      @bboucharde 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ed Liss Ed, Thanks for the observations. Yeah, the 2012's in our corporate fleet might be "unexciting," but they have been reliable, and they operate at very low rpm on the freeways at 75 to 80 mph (low noise & very good mpg), with excellent passing power on the two-lane highways. Their handling is predictable and safe, though not sporty...... For us, they do the job. I am glad to see that these pre-2014 fleet models are still made up in Ontario, and the price is right!

    GM has always swapped powertrains between different models. Just take a look at the 96 buick roadmaster, impala ss, and caprice 9c1 police car. All the same powertrain. Even the older G-body american cars were the same way. I think it's pretty cool, because you can alter them in so many ways.

    I don't think of this car one way or another but just the other day I came out of the grocery store to find no less than 12 to 15 people hovering around this car while relentlessly asking it's owner questions about it. • @Fueltilities
    @Fueltilities 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    True, no V8 can really attain those numbers. Also, keep in mind that Ford's Ecoboost engine is not entirely naturally aspirated. The numbers are impressive, but the engine is in a sense twin turbo charged. And hey, it's the sound of a V8 that can win some over single handedly. Generally speaking though, the V8 will usually produce more out of the factory and be prone to more upgrades and a broader range of power.

    Not sure why others think this is like the Accord or even looks like the Accord. I have sat in the Accord, I've driven the Accord and the Accord is nothing like the Impala. It's amazing how narrow minded some individuals can be, wow the new Impala is everything an American car was meant to be, yea Chevrolet , Thank you.

  • @Stressless2023
    @Stressless2023 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your comment about it being "boring" isn't surprising, since I see that you like Subaru's with bodykits and wings everywhere. The Impala is classier and more mature than an STi or WRX. It's nothing wrong with being biased, as long as you know when you're being biased.

  • @Fueltilities
    @Fueltilities 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That was '95 bro. Technology today is capable of producing V8 engines that can be nearly as efficient as a V6. Besides, the point being, a V8 will always have a different feel, sound, and appeal to the driver, so it's not always about what engine can make more power. Plenty of other factors come into play.

    It doesn't. However, it is the best vehicle available in its class. With adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, and a 305 hp engine comes a $39,000 price tag. I'd pay that any day. You need to take a trip to the dealership because it's competitively priced. It's biggest competitors the Ford Taurus and Toyota Avalon are similarly priced, and you don't get as much.

    this is way better then any impala made since the 1996. I'd go as far as to say that it's better than the late 50's imaplas as well.
    305 horsepower isn't a joke, by any standard, and 7.4 seconds is pretty damn good for a midsize sedan.
    If you want a musclecar, just wait for the SS to come out (not the impala SS, but the Chevy SS)

    Ford Taurus SHO starts at 39,900.
    Impala starts a 26,000.
    So that's an awkward comparison. However, the new Chevrolet SS sedan has 415 horsepower and is around 40,000. Much better comparison to the SHO

    It's pretty good step up for Chevy, compared to outdated previous generation. But there are Avalon, Cadenza, Azera, Maxima in the FF drivetrain upper middle class. They should have made Impala with FR to avoid competition with these cars.

    Manual Mode, which I always use ob any semi automatic, is ill designed with the +/- button. The shifter itself should do the shifting, which is the most common and the most comfortable design

    The only two things out of place for me is the design of the steering wheel and I still see some grainy plastics but, again I have yet to check one out to see if thats true. Kudos to GM for FINALLY ditching the W body platform

    The car is not overpriced for our market, a Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, are all in the low $30k mark when they are loaded up. And the Impala is a bigger car, more like a Avalon. Which is even more expensive.

    I told myself I'd NEVER buy an American car, but this car is amazing!! It looks better than the Acura RLX and way cheaper!!

    Thats 36,000 for a rather loaded model. And You have to see it in person to see just how nice it really is.

    Use your eyes! It at least took some visual queues from the 1960s - round tail lights, classic blue chevy bowtie. The 2005 makeover was just a cosmetic sprucing up - made it look more like the Lumina platform those Impalas were based on.

    The issue with Chevy is that the brand is heavily associated with rental fleets so I don't ever see owning one because it's the kind of car you pick up at the airport on a business trip.

    I've never felt the need for AWD. FWD does just fine in inclement weather. It would have some benefit if your car was RWD or RWD biased, but other than that it adds 200 or so lbs to drag around the majority of the year.

    As of 2015 model year, Chevy has ditched the 2.4L I-4 + electric motor. The 2.5L Inline-4 will have a stop/start function that's in the Malibu. However, most Impala shoppers will go with the 3.6L V-6.
