Thank you for all of your videos. I watch you almost every day and just started to play arena. I have to say its awesome. I went 7-2 in core m20 limited tonight so thanks for all your help. Your awesome
Had a arena match with two leyline of abundance in opening hand. Turn 1 llanowar turn 2 nissa turn 3 hydroid krasis for eight. Leyline in a nissa is great!!!
@@alexlandsbergs it's a thing, but forces you to play red and wait until turn 4. Not really seeing the strategy there, unless experimental frenzy is to just stop the discard requirement. I would still take a turn 1 bag of holding, maybe that's just me
Steel Overseer + Voltaic Guardian is absolutely terrifying. You can give all your artifact creatures +2/+2 counters every turn, making Depose//Deploy and Saheeli ways to just vomit a ton of constructs on the board. It's literally like having a Biogenic Ooze out on turn 3 and will kill any deck that can't remove it in time.
There's *almost* enough constructs to consider Icon of Ancestry in the deck given that Karn produces Constructs. It's close. Manifold Key might have a place in the deck giving a creature pseudo Vigilance if nothing else.
@@ecoKady I just want them to reprint Coat of Arms. The Voltaic Servant has an innate version of the Manifold Key untap and my deck runs 4 of it along with the Overseer. I try to curve a turn 1 Sparring Partner into a turn 2 overseer into a turn 3 servant, tap the overseer immediately to give both of them +1/+1 and then untap it during the end step for free (you have two 2/2s and a 2/4 on turn 3). This lets me block with the guardian during the next turn and tap, giving all my minions a further +1/+1. Going into turn 4 with two 3/3s and a 3/5, all of which will keep growing at a minimum of +1/+1 per turn is so oppressive against a lot of decks (e.g. Elemental synergy temur and Azorius Flying decks typically don't run removal and they are all over the meta right now).
Blood for Bones - if I understand it correctly, you pay the cost first (including sacrificing a creature) and THEN it can be countered? Something you have to be aware of.
Thanks for the great video once again!!! Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th! The cards I’m brewing with the most are Glint-Horn Buccaneer and Repeated Reverberation. In modern the Oath of the Gatewatch Chandra’s 0 ability, Faithless Looting, and Bazaar Trademage, Echo of Aeons...
Kaalia, Zenith Seeker has been so much more fun than I thought it would be. Sadly Shalai and resplendent angel are hard carrying the deck since you need early/ mid game power.
bag of holding has been KILLING it in my esper control deck. great card draw early. hoses the mirror because it effectively blanks their duress and thought erasures!
I went to a 2020 pre-release yesterday and got 3 Steel Overseers in my packs. 1 promo, 1 regular rare, and 1 foil rare. Needless to say, I ran them and came in second. The only games I lost were when I got mana screwed. I think this card can do great things in standard but we need more artifact creature support. After the rotation there will only be 19 artifact creatures. I also pulled a Mu Yanling in the same game and she won me every game she came out and ultimated.
Dev! You can also replay the same creature off of blood from the bones. So you can sac chupacabra, replay chupacabra and put something else back in your hand if you need to. Really loving Yarok and muldrotha together + command the dreadhorde
Rotting Regisaur and Nullhide Ferox is a crazy combo. Also, Regisaur combos with bag of holding. That’s not to mention the raw pow that reanimater decks get from this guy. The nut play sequence looks something like this; turn one forest into mana elf, turn two swamp into rotting Regisaur, turn three discard ferox to Regisaur. Ferox comes into play for free. Play a land and do whatever you want. That’s 14 power on the board on turn 3 assuming you don’t have anything else to play. The walue train is leaving the station.
Just gonna say six CMC Chandra is nuts as card and has already forced some people to run that new 2 mana counter an ability or legendary spell. I took out my Sarkhans from my gruul deck and put in chandras and esper control gets molly whopped by her.
Risen Reef is BUSTED. Too many times so far on arena people let it go unchecked and it does WORK. Honestly, elementals aren't as impactful without it. Turn 4 6 cmc Chandra is pretty easy and turn 3 3 cmc Chandra with RR on the board can swing a game heavily in your favor
Leyline of Abundance has a deck made to infinite combo by turn 3 or 4 it's bant I believe with a few pay offs and with a decent variety of options to go infinite not needing only one specific combo but provides multiple avenues to do so
The win con with Flood of tears is Jace + Teferi. You draw your entire deck and win with Jace's static. No need to do a single point of damage to your opponent.
I'm going to tutor out Lotus Field with Elvish Reclaimer, because getting Ore-Scale Guardian out early is very important to me. And I guess it helps to pump Reclaimer too
A bit off topic. The reprinting of Leyline of Sanctity got me thinking... other than LoS is there a way to counter an on the play turn 1 Thoughtseize? Thx.
In standard no.... only in modern: force of negation or in legacy: force of will. Your opponent going first is always an advantage in all type of decks, especially in aggro!!! Modern burn loves to hit you first turn with a goblin guide and you don't have anything on the field, not even a land and you have taken 5% damage. Then your shocks and fetches is helping them out by killing yourself faster!!!
One of my favorite parts of preseason: the predictions and top card rankings. Appreciate all ya do Dev! Sidenote: Cannot wait for tomorrow. What's everyone hoping to play at prerelease? I'd be stoked with white/blue fliers.
@@nickel-bolas951 Boros aggro is also always a good fallback for my tastes. It's the most natural way for me to build in limited formats. Fliers just looks sweet. But hey last coreset I ended up gruul and that was great so who knows.
Regarding Lotus Field I have found great success in standard in a Simic Nissa deck with reclamation. Nissa can make it a 3/3 hexproof vigilant creature and tapping for three Mana is great especially when it can come into play using cards like growth spiral letting you play it on your opponents turn. Reclamation can make the loss not as bad you can always use your Mana before playing it and have it untap at the end of your turn Nissa can also untap it when she makes it a creature. Edit. For commander gitrog monster and Windgrace would love this card as lands in the grave is pretty good for them gitrog let's you draw two cards off just playing a land and it can also sacrifice itself allowing for some extra shenanigans (not the card) play out. Edit2. Brought back can actually be used to get more Mana with Lotus Field. Tap double white play lotus field sack the two lands tapped bring them back with brought back
Great video man. I think Lotus Field is an actual modern playable card though, it allow you to make like 7 mana turn 3? I think. I would need to check the cards people were talking about again.
New Sorin is #1 for me. It is bananas in the right Vampires build. No really, BANANAS. T1 Vampire of the Dire Moon, T2 Adanto Vanguard, T3 Sorin and either buff Adanto or -3 and play something like Epicure of Blood or Sanctum Seeker.
I like the idea of the Blue Cavalier setting up draws for Kefnet, or even ramping with Risen Reef. Also not completely sold on the Ceratops. There is already Vine Mare and NullHide which are both fairly resilient against bounce and tools green has to counter some plainswalker strategies, but hasn't pushed it into top tier. The haste could be relevant but it's a 5 drop then. I think you're overvaluing this card.
The key is the meta. Esper previously wasn't running Despark and few Cast Down. If their only answer was Kaya's Wrath, it would've been better. That said, Charging Monstrasaur was starting to see play, so it's not bad as a 5 power 5 mana haste creature. There are now up to 4 decent creatures you can run in Gruul so that could be an interesting core to consider.
Are you kidding? Lotus field gonna be used in multi color decks don't know if there's better land to use, but you can use that for that legendary creature that cost all mana to cast the top 3 cards of your library without paying mana cost.
