Hi Emmy and Paul! I've been watching your videos pretty consistently for about a month now and I am so glad I found you! I have a goal of retiring at 55, so a lot of your videos give me great information to help me get to that point. I'm sure you have talked about this at some point (I'm currently slowly working my way through all of your videos), but I would love to hear about any tips that you have on handling friends/family that invite you to go out. I have many friends that either want to go grab drinks, or go out to eat, or do something that costs money. These things come up multiple times a week. I find myself turning a lot down because of wanting to be frugal, but then feeling guilty or feeling like if I keep saying no that I will stop being invited to things. How do you balance being frugal, and deciding when appropriate to go out? Thanks so much! :)
Alexis I have videos on learning to not let others dictate where our money is pend. I honestly think you have to decide what works for you personally! If Paul and I go out with others we always get a separate check. We don't drink so I hate when we would go out with people and they would have two and 3 drinks and then tell us to split the bill...Uh no. Also, we pick and choose where and when. We would go out after church (preCovid) with friends and pick a bagel shop instead of a diner. Inexpensive, no one rushes you, and we get to talk and visit over a light breakfast. It really depends on what you want. Try and suggest less expensive places, try getting your own check, and try suggesting no cost outings ( parks, walks, etc.) if you feel you really want to go out. I try to be mindful of my time. When I watch you tube videos I will set my phone alarm and when alarm goes off then I’m done watching you tube. The brownies looked delicious and I think your in laws will enjoy them. Stay warm.

What a great subject! And I needed to hear this! I retired early about 2 years ago and prior to that I was working 50 to 60 hours a week and I remember thinking once I can retire I will get so much done! The reality is I now have 50 to 60 extra hours to get things done and they're not getting done! I need to face up to my time management! Thank you :-)

I go to work, I take care of my boys, but I can also lose myself in time, doing things that don’t enhance my life, while I KNOW the things that would. Emmy, I am all caught up, I’ve watched all your videos and gotten so many good tips, tricks and recipes. Thank you and Paul for sharing all of this with us. I appreciate you and look forward to your videos, tips and support to be frugal.
I'm autistic and therefore have a lot of discipline when it comes to the things I want to do daily (mostly learn languages and read). I don't have to track my time, but I tend to track the progress of things, for example how many books I read (and how I find them), how many lessons I learned in a day and so on. I think this is very positive as I focus on the progress.
I was daydreaming .... those brownies with little mini M&M's 😍😍😍 Good ideas about time management. It's very easy to get in a rut and I do struggle with that at times. I really miss my pre-covid routine with meeting friends, etc. We are looking forward to anywhere from 6 to 18 inches of snow (depending on weather forecaster) beginning on Sunday. Looking forward to watching the snow and staying cozy at home with hubby and Biscuit Bridgett. Stay warm and safe and have a great weekend.

Loved this video! Great idea to track our time. Something i often do at night when i am in bed is to plan at least one project for the next day.. Your brownies and pillows was very different. GREAT! I have already done the time check. The problem is that in families they have to put things away after they use them. This saves housework time to do other things or go to necessary appointments with less stress.

Great Video! Will definitely try the brownies. The segment on time tracking really struck a much needed cord for me. One of the pitfalls of retirement is having too much time and thinking "oh well, I can get it later or tomorrow". Never thought of tracking time. This is going to be an eye opener and I believe game changer for me because I am a procrastinator. My word for the year is "action".

DIY : frugal tip - I bought a 4 lb jar of peanut butter at Walmart $5.97 shelf price - $4.34 online price - I asked cashier for on line price and he said yes. I saved $1.63 on the jar. Just by knowing online price. I am going to check other stores in my area. 😃😃😃

Love the pillows! I got 8 pillows at Walmart 2 summers ago for $1ea. I use them outside and inside. I add cocoa powder and 1/2 cup pecans into my brownies and I make mine in that same pan except, my pan is brown, “temptations” Emmy, don’t miss the Free + money maker Colgate toothpaste at cvs.
I really liked your music introduction. It is not fair to see such a yummy recipe but it is summer here and chocolate is not at it's best in this heat and humidity 😢.
This is something I have been working on, the time thing. It is so easy to waste time and I am trying not to do that. By the way, it is 46° here in north, Ga. Was close to 70° this past week. The brownies look delicious and I am sure you inlaws will love them.

DIY : frugal tip - I bought a 4 lb jar of peanut butter at Walmart $5.97 shelf price - $4.34 online price - I asked cashier for on line price and he said yes. I saved $1.63 on the jar. Just by knowing online price. I am going to check other stores in my area. 😃😃😃

Its saturday now,and we got hit with snow.thankfully,i got what i needed to get earlier today.went to target because i needed some foundation garments.mine are getting a bit ratty .not that many people are going to see ,but they were so torn up i could not wear them.especially at that time...emmy knows what i mean.6 pair ,$9.good ones,too.so,yay.makeup hubby ordered should be here tuesday.already got my necklace.chain was crap,but the charm,cute.a coffin charm.i put that on a different chain

Love the pillows! I got 8 pillows at Walmart 2 summers ago for $1ea. I use them outside and inside. I add cocoa powder and 1/2 cup pecans into my brownies and I make mine in that same pan except, my pan is brown, “temptations” Emmy, don’t miss the Free + money maker Colgate toothpaste at cvs.

This is something I have been working on, the time thing. It is so easy to waste time and I am trying not to do that. By the way, it is 46° here in north, Ga. Was close to 70° this past week. The brownies look delicious and I am sure you inlaws will love them.
