Interstellar is one of the best movies ever, along with inception, and their musical scores only amplifies their greatness
Watch more movies and i'm sure your opinion will change. It's a gorgeus, ambitious movie but it's extremely over the top. Inception is great though. Again, probably not an all time movie, but great none the less.

Just saw Dunkirk and the score is incredible. It takes Elgar's "Nimrod" and turns it into something Vangelis might have recorded in the 80s. Very powerful and creative.
If only DCEU was made by Nolan, it would rekt Marvel. Screw you Snyder.

The Lion King is one of the greatest Hans Zimmer's music scores ever! You listen to the music score, it has a lot of emotions. I watch the movie, I cried watching Simba trying to wake his father up and calling for help before he lays down next to his father. As a kid, you don't know how you can feel the music score. You do not know real emotions. As an adult, you know you can feel the music score that makes you feel emotional. You understand how it feels.

Grand Budapest Hotel was actually my favorite film score of that year. Have you seen it? It isn't "epic," but it's incredibly quirky, catchy, and fun, and perfect for the movie that it's in.

Great list! My fav is still The Last Samurai, although Interstellar is absolutely the most beautiful sci-fi score I have ever heard. When they were chasing the drone it literally put me in a different world!
Christopher Nolan and Hanz Zimmer paired together are beyond legendary. The absolute best combination. How the musical score for The Dark Knight Rises is not on this list absolutely blows my mind, the way the film's score thunderously builds throughout the film before hitting it's apex in the final sequence is mesmerizing and brilliant.

There is just something so igniting whenever I listen to the score of The Thin Red Line, especially the choirs. There's this peaceful wind that somehow blows me away Everytime.
Seeing how the movie itself is a slow burning anti-war film, it details what is lost in war. Ironically, one man found peace, remembering it at his passing.
Prince of Egypt "Deliver Us" best score for me. I got literal chills listening to the ending version of it. That's how you end a show with a masterpiece like that score.
The Prince of Egypt soundtrack is one of the most beautiful, intense, and emotional works I've ever heard.
And it wasn't even CLOSE TO the top five...The Lion King got NUMBER FOUR...Hakuna Matata kicked The Plagues' ass...I Just Can't Wait to be King beat the sh*t out of Deliver Us...

@@collegemaster5683 the instrumental piece are where Zimmer shines in both movies. There were other music writers involved in the actual songs.
The Burning bush kicks the shit out of all the Lion King instrumental pieces which I still love to death. But the plagues beats all the lion king's tracks.

Why is everyone comparing Hans Zimmer to Mozart, when in reality he is more like Bach. Hell he even looks like him. Also for the ignorant haters who say he doesnt know how to play an instrument. Have you seen the making of black hawk down or rain man? He worked with such a small group in BHD and the soundtrack is amazing. Cry me a river.
There's just something about The Last Samurai's score, it's perfect, Hans Zimmer's best composition and don't get me wrong his other scores are amazing, definitely a close second especially Interstellar but there's something about The Last Samurai, it's just perfect. One of his underrated scores. Oh and now Dune is out, I wonder where that ranks, that was brilliant too.

The scores of each of the four ALIEN films are incredible. Howard Shore's score of Dead Ringers is gorgeous. Close Encounters too. Arrival's score blew me away, as did Interstellar.
