@@47retta No, it was regular temperatures but we do have the AC on during the hot season as I live in Las Vegas. @@littlehummingbird1015 I bought my large can for $7 as it was marked down. I like to have my coffee with 1/2 c coffee and 1/2 cold milk but Nido does not have a 100% taste of real milk but in a grid down situation I would be able to overlook that, lol! Adding more flavoring (I almost always use the Great Value-Walmart brand of Hazelnut coffee so I have many bags of that stored) the Mexican chocolate in powder form like Abuelita or Ibarra and that does a good enough job masking that taste. I have plenty of ways to chill the milk also.

I paid nearly $15 at Walmart back in 2021 (BBD August 2022). I haven't used it because I intended for it to be longer-term storage. Like you, I stored it in a cool, dry, dark area. I also, during that time, stocked up on Gossner Farms milk from Dollar Tree and used that 2 years past its BBD of 2021. OK, I opened the Nido, and the "whoosh" when opening the pull top startled me LOL . But it looks and tastes great (although I'm sure it will taste better cold). I will put it in half-gallon jars and keep some in the kitchen. I never thought of using it with the Knorr sides! I will definitely start using it more instead of buying milk that goes bad before the BBD.

I kept mine in my kitchen unopened 2 years past best by date. Now, after opening I'm going on 2 years, and it's still good. Still left in can, by the stove for cooking. Just a few uses left. Not recommending people do it like I use it but it's working for me.
I’ve opened my last can and it was close to 2 years expired. It was perfectly fine. No off odors or tastes. I put the whole can in an airtight container and it stays fresh.
I keep the Nido Fortificada and the shelf stable milk from Dollar Tree in my stockpile. I'm really glad to hear both types of milk last well past the best by date.
I have a can that was open and close to its expiration date. I stuck the can in the freezer. This was about 2 years ago, and just 2 weeks ago I was out of milk, and I reconstituted some of it. It was just fine!
Hi. Thank you for this important information as always. These powdered milks can be pricey and the thought that you might have to throw out an unused whole can because you didn’t use by the expiration date, make you think twice before you buy it. I can definitely say that I have used Nido powdered milk 8 months after the best before date and it’s just as perfect and delicious as new. It’s good to know that it last much, much longer.
I can't tell you how appropriate this video is. Yesterday I was in Sam's Club where I usually buy the giant container of Nido Fortificada. It lasts me about a year. I don't drink milk but I do use it for many things including making bread. Unfortunately, the best buy date stamped on the label was a mere 90 days in the future. No way to manage that because I still have half of another container. This is a gigantic container weighing in at 4.85 pounds for $23.48 here in Kansas City, Missouri. I was thinking it might be wise to stock up on another one ... just in case. After watching you I feel much better getting it although I wish the date was a farther out. I do like the flavor of this milk and the best part is not having liquid milk spoil before you can use it all. I would buy a half gallon and many times it would go bad before I use it up. This has been a real cost saver and it doesn't have any weird aftertaste.
Used Nido for years and never have had a problem. Just because it says an expiration date does not mean it instantly goes bad after that date, it means it will deteriorate slowly over time. Trying to explain that to my adult kids is like talking to a wall. 😅😅

Heck if I know, but I just know mine lasts a long time after opening.
I started using this product some time back because of your recommendation. It's nice to use, because it doesn't have the usual powdered milk flavor. It just so happened that when I found this video, I was drinking a cup of hot cocoa made with this product.

Nido Fortificado is the only milk I use, as it is easy to measure and use in powdered form. When stored long term, I put in pint mason jars and vacuum seal the lids. They are stored in a cool dry place and I've had no problems!
Because of you, I am also a big fan and I always have it on hand. I checked it against another fancier looking brand from Sweden - same ingredients. Love the product
I've enjoyed the Nido powdered milk since you recommended it years ago. We used to drink a lot of the Milkman brand when we were kids and living off grid, and this is the only one I've had that tastes like how I remember Milkman and not the awful skim milk like most powdered milk seems to be.
I use the Nido and it lasts a long time. I didn't really know how long so thank you for this video. I portioned it out into quart jars and use it in my cooking or even in my coffee. I am just finishing off a can bought in 2020 and it is still just fine.
My NIDO has been stored in my garage overflow refrigerator since the day I bought it. I’m confident this storage method will preserve the quality even longer.
I enjoy the Nido. I use it a lot. My grandkids love it in my homemade hot chocolate mix. I have some of the non fat types as well in a longer term storage.
I have an open can of the Nido Fortificada in the fridge for over 2 years now. So far it is still good. It was near the bb date when first opened. I use it when i run out of milk or for camping. However, I also use small cans of Evaporated Milk when making instant or real mashed potatoes, or gravy.
i use NIDO Forticada in everyday cooking. to make gravy, roux, carne quisada, in coffee and tea, to bake, make puddings. I also like to make the milk very thick and use it to mix into soft set jello. I add a can of drained fruit cocktail or other fruit and some times add nuts or raisins for a salad or dessert. I love NIDO Fortifcada. I vacuum seal some in different size jars to put back in the pantry. The cans they come in are metal with a nice rim around the top of the can, The can may be used for storage of other foods or whatever you would like,
I am doing a pantry clean up and organization and this video is so timely as I was unsure if my Nido was still safe. It has been stored in plastic totes in our garage because that is all I have available.
It takes me over 6 months to go through a large can of Nido because I use it primarily for coffee, so sometimes the last cup or two starts to go. You can tell when it doesn't dissolve as easily. If that starts to happen, I make paneer out of it and have it as cheese.
Love these ideas for the milk! I’ve been buying that brand due to your recommendation and I’m not disappointed at all! Thank you so much. Have a blessed day.🌻
I use the Nido all the time and have for years. It makes a delicious dry chocolate milk mixed with Nesquik and stores awesomely. Best chocolate milk ever!!
I have two big containers of Nido....and soooo glad you did this video....I now know how to really store it properly after opening it....I opened one a few months ago and wasn't sure how long it would last from then.
Thanks for presenting the issue of usefulness long after the expiration date, but also the importance of rotating the items in our pantry and replenishing what has been consumed. You always provide helpful tips based on your actual experience.
I just found this product and received it a few days ago. I had never seen powdered whole milk before, so was excited to find this. I haven't tried it yet, but I will once I get through my container of powdered skim milk that I've never really cared for. Living rural, I often run out of milk or it goes sour and I realize it just when I want to use it. I don't want to waste the time and gas to drive into town just for some milk, so I always keep powdered milk in the house. When do I want pancakes, creamy comfort food or other things that are best with whole milk? When I'm snowed in, out of milk and have the time to make them of course!
I bought 2 cans of Nido at a Hispanic grocery store with an amazing restaurant too! I am thrilled to have the Nido in my pantry! Those tamales were delicious ❤
I have NIDO put away as well as non-fat dry milk,(which I don't like but can be stored longer and used in cooking, for others, and pets. ) Walmart has their own whole milk powder, which I have been meaning to try, although it is not the quality y of NIDO, I am sure.
I've used it in recipes like you just did, nice and creamy. Hubby has used it in his coffee a few times when we ran out of milk. He said it tastes just like regular milk! Glad you didn't have to throw it out!
I occasionally shop at a store where they will throw expired products in a cart and mark them free (a local butcher that also carries other items). I got a bunch of these for free last year because they were expired and I’m still using them. Score! They taste and smell fine. Think I’m down to my last one.
Best option, be aware that this is best choice evaporated milk especially Great value shelf life has been limited. One month beyond best buy date and milk was congealed brown mass. So this is by far better option.
That's about how old the last one I opened was. It was perfectly fine. I used it up in about a month through baking and using it my coffee as someone suggested in your comments.
Love your nails, AG! Looking like a QVC model today 😄 Thank you for testing out the powdered milk for us. That is one particular item I had been wondering about!
I have used Nido 4 years past best by date. Actually 2 years past date unopened then 2 years past opening. Left in the can until half way down the put in jars. I generally only use for cooking a baking so I don't use it up quickly.
G'day from Australia , we live in the outback here and dont get that nestle product but have found the Aldi powdered milk totally fine and super long lasting, we get 5-6 years out of it before it starts to clump up and the lite ( fat reduced ) stuff we have not had long enough for it to go bad (8 years so far )
G'day from Minnesota USA, I live in the city and haven't found it at my local stores. I haven't looked at my local Aldi since it's a bit out of the way. Our more thrifty grocer closed in July, so Aldi is the next best thing. Thanks for the information.
Whilst rotating through my store of NIDO a found a tin that had gotten out of sequence and was 2 months out of date, but it was fine. After seeing your video I realise I needn’t have worried about it. Good to know if stored properly will last a lot longer than the official expiration date. Edit : Since then I write the ‘expiry’ date on the lid so I shouldn’t make that mistake again.
This morning, I opened an expired Nestle Carnation dry milk container that expired March of last year, and I was curious if it was still good. I was surprised to see your video pop up shortly after to see your findings. and it was the same! The powder looked and smelled good enough!
Thank you AG for this video. I have a big stockpile of this product because it's just not possible for us to rotate it. I assumed it would be fine over time and you have just reassured my suspicions. Hope you are well and in God's good keeping!
I haven't tried Nido yet. I have tried a powdered buttermilk (I don't remember the brand) which worked well in soda bread or biscuits. It did get kind of hard and lumpier than when I bought it. It was still within the best buy date and I used it up within a couple of months. I would buy it again as back up for baking after I find some powdered milk for drinking and baking other things. As I recall we used Carnation powdered milk as a child. Maybe that's still around. It worked great in mashed potatoes.
Great video! I have the Nido Fortificada on hand but haven’t tried it yet. I have milk from 2 different long term food suppliers. One sells the nonfat powder which would be tolerable, I remember our family using that when I was a kid. The other company sells the whey powdered milk which was just too unpleasant. I’m looking forward to trying this product and using your portion storage tips too ! Thanks for all of the great information you share to help us stay prepared and safe !!
We always have several of these on hand and go through a can per month in wither making hot cereal every day for the two of us. I wouldn't be without it!.

Also mixed with powdered cheese for ( mac n cheese). I was wondering if I was going to put in smaller containers , do I need to use food sealer or Not?? As I learned not to food seal sugar...

Use it for protein shakes, 1 cup water, 1/4 cup Protein Powder, 1/4 cup NIDO, 3 TBSP unsweetened Cocoa powder, 3 packets stevia, about 12 frozen strawberries (to thicken), blend in my nurtibullet blender.
Nido Fortificado is the only milk I use, as it is easy to measure and use in powdered form. When stored long term, I put in pint mason jars and vacuum seal the lids. They are stored in a cool dry place and I've had no problems!
Thanks for reminding us to check on our Nido stock.😊
Ive used shelf stable milk from Dollar Tree 2 years past expiration and it was fine.
Because of you, I am also a big fan and I always have it on hand. I checked it against another fancier looking brand from Sweden - same ingredients. Love the product
I’ve had lots of foods open way past their dates. I mean 3-4 years past. I had ketchup that was 10 years past it’s date, it was fine.
Yes, I also use NIDO …
Mine expired in 2022 and i figured i use my youtube degree to see if there was a video like this to see if its still good. Thanks.
I even use simalac as milk (powdered).
SO GLAD TO KNOW THIS...I have several cans❕❤️😇
So glad u posted this, I have a can I was not wanting to open, but was curious if it could be ok. About the same date as yours. Thanks!
I like this milk also. Have a great day 🌻
i use NIDO Forticada in everyday cooking. to make gravy, roux, carne quisada, in coffee and tea, to bake, make puddings. I also like to make the milk very thick and use it to mix into soft set jello. I add a can of drained fruit cocktail or other fruit and some times add nuts or raisins for a salad or dessert. I love NIDO Fortifcada. I vacuum seal some in different size jars to put back in the pantry. The cans they come in are metal with a nice rim around the top of the can, The can may be used for storage of other foods or whatever you would like,
Depends on your climate. Things ruin in tropical Florida
That’s a good point to consider!
I just started using it. I was surprised at the quality it’s so much better than regular powdered milk.
Perfect timing for this video. I purchased the large can, but now expired. I couldn't throw it away!!!
Thank you for the information I almost threw a can away because of the expiration date.
Great video!!!! This was on my list of questions. Great to read the additional comments too! Thanks AG!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love these ideas for the milk! I’ve been buying that brand due to your recommendation and I’m not disappointed at all! Thank you so much. Have a blessed day.🌻
I like Nido. I bought several cans for SHTF
I use the Nido all the time and have for years. It makes a delicious dry chocolate milk mixed with Nesquik and stores awesomely. Best chocolate milk ever!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Use Nido all the time. Good quality milk powder.
Heat up milk add tsp instant coffee...so good😃
I use this milk to make our hot cocoa mix. It's delicious
Thank you! I needed to hear this!
What a great video. Very helpful to those of us who haven't been prepping for 5 or more years.
I use it in my everyday cooking as a thickening agent. It adds so much richness that I never use regular liquid milk.
I have NIDO put away as well as non-fat dry milk,(which I don't like but can be stored longer and used in cooking, for others, and pets. ) Walmart has their own whole milk powder, which I have been meaning to try, although it is not the quality y of NIDO, I am sure.
I'm wondering how it would taste if you mixed half non fat powdered milk with Nido
Free!!??? You must love that store.
Thankyou! I have two cans a bit past its date. Such great information.
Mine are two years expired and still going fine
Thanks AG, you really are a mine of fantastic information
Use in morning coffee .
Better than chemical filled coffee creamer
Blessings
Love your nails, AG! Looking like a QVC model today 😄 Thank you for testing out the powdered milk for us. That is one particular item I had been wondering about!
I just bought some this summer as a part of my stock up, but I haven't used it. Thank you for use ideas.
I make a big jar of instant cocoa mix with it! Everyone loves it.
Would you share your recipe? Thanks.
I bought this on your recommendation.
I tried it on your recommendation and I think it's delicious and I love the fact that it lasts! Thank you for sharing that 😎
Glad you enjoy it!
@@Katesharpandvoice the Aldi product here is Australian made , so not sure what the product there would be . good luck to you eh !
Sounds great!
mi leche favorita
It is the only powder milk I buy, use, and recommend.
I’m a milkoholic
I love Nido, it’s delicious.
Thank you, I'm buying it now, Amazon is out though, I'll purchase it else where.
Keep checking back, the price fluctuates.
Thank you AG for this video. I have a big stockpile of this product because it's just not possible for us to rotate it. I assumed it would be fine over time and you have just reassured my suspicions. Hope you are well and in God's good keeping!
I added a heaping spoonful to my coffee this morning. Nice flavor.
You can store it in the freezer to last even longer. If you mix it half and half with nonfat dry milk it would be like 2% milk.
You are very welcome!
We always have several of these on hand and go through a can per month in wither making hot cereal every day for the two of us. I wouldn't be without it!.
I love this milk, as I drink a lot,...then some days I skip. I love that it gives me control of how much I have without spoiling.
Also I make powdered vanilla coffee creamer with it. Also mixed with powdered cheese for ( mac n cheese).
I was wondering if I was going to put in smaller containers , do I need to use food sealer or Not??
As I learned not to food seal sugar...
