I think that the roughness of the ride makes it better in some way because it makes it feel like the torture device it’s supposed to be

Big brain!I have not been on saw but looks like a beeeaaast and I think that jolts is better than none because it goes round the layout fast and the extra intensity to make it better but theming doesn't add any force!

Saw the ride as much as it adds to the experience it would make it less intense because it loses (speed , pun ,speed no limits , euro fighter) so less intense and theming is not not not not not not not not not not not not not not not not not not not make it for morcful, mor forceful

I really like Saw. Despite it's horror theme and the pretty intense anticipation that builds up, it's actually maybe the easiest rollercoaster in the park.
Colossus is an absolute headbasher and desperately needs some TLC, it was so painful that i decided to skip our next ride and take a break while my group went on.

I think The Swarm is definitely easier than Saw: The Ride.
The Swarm is much smoother and less intense. Saw is full of ejector airtime and it's quite shaky. It's as shaky in any row as Inferno is towards the back.
Although, I definitely agree with you about Colossus.

  • @Zeigler_
    @Zeigler_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +24

I love SAW: The Ride one of my all time favourites, I know it has its issues and people do not like it for how rough it can be in the outdoor elements but for me that makes it as its all about traps and the saw franchise, it does need to be smoother for sure but I personally don't mind it

A mixture of amazing theming, fantastic indoor section, great positive and negative forces and also a single rider line now.

Love the video and the channel! I have a request for a video or video series I'd love to see, how a theme park designs, procures and builds a coaster. What comes first? The theme, the ride type? Do the companies bid on the chance to build it or do the theme parks approach a specific company?
Would love to see some content around this topic!
    Keep up the amazing work!

I rode it once as the B&M rattle took over and even the heart line roll hurt! It's a bit of a jolter but I've never had a bad ride on it. Maybe I'm just immune to it after riding Grand National 20 times last year or I've always been lucky and caught it on a good day. I personally find Colossus a lot more jolty, at least the last couple of seasons. But I fully agree that UK parks need better restraints as thorpe park is especially bad for it. From quite early on in its existence, I found the ride uncomfortable because it seems to bounce along the track, as though it had a vertical judder. The very first ride I had, the indoor drop was a complete surprise and definitely a brilliant part of the ride, but thereafter it’s a complete headache. Plus I love the Saw films (though they certainly have their flaws) but I feel even for Thorpe park it wasn’t the best theming choice.

Do you thinks parks with small foot prints might start installing RMC Raptor tracks instead of Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter over the next few years?

Yes this ride has gotten worse over the years, guess for me the roughness adds to the entire ride that it is meant to be a saw trap. So it being uncomfortable adds to the experience!

i know this is quite outdated but I've started to notice its gotten way smoother then it was before, maybe they did some maintence on it or something because its now my favourite ride at thorpe park

Going to thorpe park today, having previously done Swarm and Nemesis inferno, do you think I will be able to cope with saw and colossus?

I first went to Thorpe park in august saw had a massive queue so I didn’t go on I went back in September with my mates went on queued an two hours I loved the queue it looks really atmospheric and abandoned I didn’t actually hear the air cannon cause the second I went in it went of and my friend fell over cause we didn’t know it was going to happen and we were really shocked . Great queue great indoor area and I was on the first row far right second dispatch and it was great my favourite part of the ride was the first drop were you go over the top it was really different to oblivion cause there were no breaks it was a bit shaky but I went on again and leaned my head into one side of the restraint and it makes the ride way more enjoyable.
    As an overall experience 7/10

Hmm 10/11 years old is still pretty young for a coaster imo. I rode Viper SFMM which is 30 years old and found it much smoother in comparison.
Keep up the good work Shawn :)

I'm an enthusiast but since I've been getting into my late 20s some rides kill me now, euro fighters especially 😂 I rode saw 2 days after it opened, queued all day as it constantly broke down, got the final ride before they shut it for the day, only ride I managed to get on that day. Sadly can't ride it now 😂

With you on this one..at last years fright night was really looking forward to saw in the dark as went a few years ago to same event (I am from Leeds so usually go to alton towers scarefest) and saw was Brilliant especially in dark..not now..you cant see the twists and turns coming in dark to brace yourself it actually cricked my neck ..horrible ride now..shame as I agree the themeing etc is amazing

    My review:
Saw has an overall good layout but could do with better trains, (restraints kinda like karnan) it is pretty rough but the theme really makes up for it, I love the head choppers and that beyond vertical drop, it really fits the park. Cant forget those shotguns! I give it an overall 6.8/10

This is probably one of the most marmite coasters in the UK, mabye even Europe. Some people say its the best ride in the park, others say its one of the worst in the country. I personally think its a great experience but definetly has a lot of jolting at points...

It rides a hell of a lot smoother than collosus does these days. Collosus urgently needs some TLC!

I actually didn’t find it awful this year. I rode it in September and to be honest, it wasn’t bad. We went on one of the days that they oversold tickets, and so everything was on a 2hr+ wait all day, so we only did it once, but from the ride we got, it was running okay. Obviously that Immelmann is just horrific, but the mid course is something I 100% agree with you on too 😂 the dive loop used to be unbearable, but now they must have changed something in the train- perhaps a wheel change. Idk I first rode it in 2011, and it was running excellent back then. Definitely deteriorating as time goes on, but that’s just the way Gerstlauers seem to go. The Smiler is WAAAYYYY better the past 2 years, but from 2015-2019 it was borderline unbearable in parts too- hopefully Gerstlauer can fix this in future creations 🤣🤞🏻

Me and my sister have gone to Thorpe park a few times a year for the last 3 years and we love saw but I can't ride it anymore sadly as it's so rough I come off with a bad headache. Everyone getting off always moans about having head pain ☹️ such a shame.

I'm not gonna lie but if you sit in the second row i think its a lot smoother and you cant see if your at the top of the ride so you can only tell when you go over its so scary but so fun

Spot on abut where its issues lie imo, I know it’s themed to a torture device but that dive loop is just too far! Makes colossus feel like gliding on ice!

Late to the party but love the theaming and it runs really well these days, colossus and nemesis inferno run worse. Obviously a family coster but so does flying fish. Icon is still best though followed by the swarm then the smiler tue OG nemesis its good but it needs work which we are getting! Do expect this yo change soon!
