- Here are my thoughts on the current state of movie posters and why they're so much worse than they used to be.

I say it works for some and it is a disservice to others
movie posters don't have any affect on the movie
My favorite poster of all time is the one from Spider-Man 3. Where he is sitting on the ledge with the black suit in the reflection behind him
Funny you should mention it, the Spider-Man 3 Poster got a variant where it’s the black suit Spider-Man looking at his reflection, which is red & blue.

The funny thing is, I’ve been taking comic book posters and redrawing them with comic designs and I usually always go with the multiple heads photoshop one, just cause it gives me an excuse to draw more of the characters.
Although far from homes poster was so bad I found a fan made one to go off of
I heard someone else say this, that back in the day posters were THE main marketing tool. Then they didn't have the sort of trailer culture that we have today and the poster is secondary. So I guess as dependency on the poster as a marketing tool declined, so did the need for them to pop and be original.
Just saying this is a really cool channel and I wanna see it keep growing - it's very honest which I like.

It can all be seen in the rise of the skywalkwer poster. They actually had a beautiful drew struzan poster done. But scrapped it for one in which they used a photo of a toy of the emporer on it. They had access to the actor but instead used the toy because of reasons.

I found this channel because I saw Nerdstalgic had an upload about this subject. I decided to find out who they ripped off this time. Idk if that was this video (I didn't watch the Nerdstalgic video) but you've got yourself a sub!
You know, I did the exact same thing you did. I decided to see if I could find a semi recent video about movie posters, and compare them to the Nerdstalgic one.
It's clear that they definitely took some things from at least two other videos, but they actually produces a fairly original video with some clips from interviews.
The funny thing is that this video though, rips off another video, by Doctor Skipper that came out May 15 2022. Some things are almost verbatim taken from his video titled *'The Problem With Modern Movie Posters'* So for once, I'd say that the smaller one ripped off the bigger one.
It's so weird how main posters these days look so meh & muddled but all variants look mostly amazing.
Somewhere in Time is a good way to start for listening to Iron Maiden, but Piece of Mind is the best.

Back they wanted art to be remembered. Now they want you to remember who's in the movie.
I mean when comparing them to other posters that are white backgrounds with a character and the title (your ferris buillers, norbit, nutty groundhog days) like they don’t put effort into the poster at all. It looks like stock photos.
Funny that you used the video cassette posters for the first 2 Indiana Jones movies and not the original release posters which I like a lot better
Because nowadays they use the same style every-time where the old ones were unique

The worst poster I believe isn’t a movie poster but a Broadway musical. Anastasia the new Broadway musical. It’s actually really good but the poster is just bad.
Most posters now of days ain't as good as it used to be. Makes me wish that there were a little bit more creative. Oh well, guess we can only hope (Also I'm not a new sub or anything I just lost my old account, I'm Film Lover)
everything sucks now because of computers.
The reason why modern movie posters aren’t good is because no one is putting effort into them. Back in the old day they used to put effort into them in creativity, but now no artwork, no background color scheme, and there just putting floating heads on them. It’s rare to find a form of artwork now a days with the pure creativity.

@@Moodboard39 posters were also the cover art for videos and that was the money maker before streaming. There is now barely a reason for posters or still photos anymore.
