Calculators will get you in the ballpark of 1% front to rear variance but i can tell you from experience that different manufacturer sizes even though they state same dimensions vary a lot.

18 and 19" M sport F30 in UK get staggered setup from factory. 225/45/18 and 255/40/18 or 225/40/19 and 255/35/19. My 330d xdrive has the 19" sizes.

the track handling package give you staggered 19s with xdrive so, I know cause I have it on my lol.

Getting new tires mounted on my Bimmers rims is one of the scariest things for me. 1 out of 3 times those guys scratch up my rims.

Great video guys! To clarify for those that are still a little confused, the aspect ratio on the tire is represented as a percentage. For example 245/35-19, 35 is 35% of 245mm.

Yes, that's 35% of the width of the tire(245mm).
@Variant Wheels Quick question guys: is the 1% difference a range in the + AND - Spectrum? In other words, is a -1.9% difference in the negative spectrum too much of a difference in diameter? The video isn't clear on that part? Thanks in advance for any clarification.
@@AlmightyEye Doesn't matter if its + or - spectrum. But 1.9% difference is too much in my experience and so is 1%. Try to match within 0.5% is my recommendation...

@kiesmotorsports great video! What are you guys going to do with the wheels that are not bent? I have a 2013 335i with a staggered set of the same wheels. Unfortunately the finish is coming off one of my front wheels, which I believe are the same size.
I followed your guidance. I just installed new staggered wheels on 2021 G 20 M340i xDrive, F 8.5x20 et 22 with 245/35/20, R 10x20 et 40 with 285/30/20. Perfectly fit. I further added Bilstein Evo SE to lower the car. Perfect, I say.
Question, had exact same setup on my 2020 RWD 340i. Problem was the fronts rubbed really bad, do you use spacers?

Guys what if you have 21 X 9.5 F and 21 X 11 R but you want to run a 295/35/21 square tire setup? Is this safe for the X drive due to the 0% tire variance or does the wheel widths play a significant enough role for this to be a bad idea? Any help is appreciated!

Been running this setup on stock suspension on my 13’ 328xi for a few months now and have had 0 issues, +35 offset for the front and +30 for the rears
I have a 328i xdrive 2010 and got the M3 220 style on it with 245/35 R19 93Yfront, 255/35 R19 96Y rear. I’m having issues with transfer case. All the lights pop right on when I start driving. What could it be??
Sounds like you need to have it scanned. Sounds like you probably got speed sensor faults, or maybe steering angle sensor errors.
A full system scan is the first step.
UK f31 330d xdrive comes with staggered from factory 225 front 255 back, like you said different side wall ratios
Great video Kris, Im running 225/45 R18 front and 255/40 R18 rear on my 2015 328i xdrive msport with no issues (except a little understeer) I didn't know running staggered could damage the transfer case, the calculator says 0% difference for my set-up, Thank you for the info and link.
PS also I appreciate the communication that my rear strut bar is on the way....

I'm running 265/30R19 in the rear on my F30 335i RWD with 437M 19s, I would have thought for sure that anything wider would rub. Although I'm also lower than that 340i in the video.
My 335D XDrive M Sport has staggered wheels as standard from the factory with 19" x 8J fronts and 19" x 8.5J's at the rear so it must be safe to do.

Awesome video. Question I Just bought a 2012 BMW F10 M sport with the xdrive and just bought some rims with out doing any research I have 245/35/20 on the front and 285/30/20 on back is that in that 1% or should I just put back the stock rims?

So my biggest question is that my m850i xDrive convertible came with front 245/35/20 and back 275/30/20 Perelli Runflat, so I Hit a pothole high speed which bent the front wheels and tires Bursted, in emergency the available tires installed by the shop are 245/45/20 vs 245/35/20 and my All wheel drive system is acting weird and throwing system malfunction and holding one side etc and etc.
So what bigger tire size or spacers can I get to fill the wheel both front and back.

is it only the aspect ratio and the rim size that matters? for example, if I run 245/ 40 19 in the rear and run 225/40 19 in the front would that still be a problem?

What do you mean? My 2016 340 xdrive M Sport came with 442M in 8x19 and 8.5x19 with 225 and 255 tires.
Yes it can as mine came with 225/45/18 up front and 255/40/18 on the rears

I have an 328xi e90 , I’m running on 235-45-20 but it’s still activating my traction control even though I’m running the 4 of them on same size , any advice?
My ‘23 G20 m340i x-Drive came stock with 8”x18J 225/40/19 front PS4’s and 8.5”x18J 255/35/19 rear PS4’s.
Am I able to go with a square 245/45/19 winter tire setup, or, should I stick with the existing staggered setup for winters?

No spacers and the fitment is perfect IMO.
Am I supposed to focus on the first percentage at the top that it gives me? I’m a bit confused to all the percentages it gave me but if I’m not mistaken only the first percentage they give you matters ?
Double check the double checking :) I have 440xi with factory staggered wheels :) 8JX19 ET:36 rims with 225/40R19 tires on Front and 8,5JX19 ET:47 with 255/35R19 on the Rear.

I did the math and the set I would like was that the front tires will be 0.7% taller than the rear ones. Can I go ahead with the project or do the ones in the back have to be taller or does it not matter?

My BMW 340i xDrive came stock with staggered wheels. 255/35/19 rear and 225/40/19 front. It has the track package.
Same here my 2017 Came with that same exact setup. I did the math and it falls within the same -0.4% as he mentions in this video.
The sticker on the door of my bmw recommend tire size 225/40/18 front and 245/35/18 rear which is 1.2% difference in diameter, is it safe ?
The 2nd number or the aspect ratio is the percentage.
So 235/35 means the tire is 235mm wide and 35% of 235mm wide
or 235 x .35 = 82.25mm
What about the offset on the wheel itself can you have them run different from one another?

Hi guys I just bought wheels 403 oem 19” and it turns out the rear wheels are wider and bigger than front and I got awd , is this safe ?
I have a bmw m550 2020 that came with 19” from factory but changed them to a 20” vossen hf5 set up. Tire size is 245/35/20 front and 275/30/20 rear equaling to -1.9% does that mean i could start having transfer case issues ?? The 2021 bmw m550 comes with that actual tire set up. This thing is so confusing.

19x8.5 et33 Front

I'm hoping to reuse my staggered set of wheels from my damaged 330d over to a 335d xdrive. 255/40R 18 & 225/45R 18. Tyre size calculator says 0% variance. The tyres are only 3 months old but I will need to measure them as I expect the rears have seen a bit more wear than the fronts!! 😄
Doesn't the actual rim size need to be considered too? The numbers coming from the calculator alone won't account for any kind of stretch.
