Bro, i noticed that you purposely planted photos plant in the return water flow chamber of your pond? May i know the purpose of that? Do you recommend doing such to us, your fellow koi keepers? Is it better than baki shower?
Hey bro, in small aquariums Pothos Plant is used to reduced the Nitrate Levels in the water. Knowing this plus I like the looks of a bushy and estbalished Pothos Plant, made me decide to grow them on top of my waterfall box.
Inside that waterfall box by the way are bags and bags of sun-dried oyster shells. So basically the waterfall box is a bacteria house, its like my fifth 5th chamber.
Bakki shower is a bacteria house and a very efficient system to increase Dissolved Oxygen Levels in the water. The Bakki Shower is superior to the Photos Plant.

Good day sir..can you explain or do a video about dimilin 25wp and the 98% pure..what's the difference between them, how to use them, or what specific instances they can be use. The Dimilin Powder WP25 is what I use. Dimilin WP25 means its a wettable powder formulation that has 250grams active ingredient per 1,000grams. I reiterate this Dimilin WP25 is what we need for our purpose.
Now the real 98% Pure Dimilin is not user friendly. This powder will not readily dissolve in water. I have tried and it's like trying to dissolve sand in water. I would not suggest you use this because just the whole process of trying to dissolve this powder is very time consuming.

Hello Mic, yes sakto yung idea mo actually. Let's say sa gabi yung next application mo ng Dimilin Powder. A few hours before that mag partial water change ka na. Ganito rin actually ginagawa ko.

It's perfectly safe. I do it 2 times a year as well. Even if there's no sign of any parasite.

Hello Jay, Dimilin will not kill blood worms. And Dimilin will not increase levels of Ammonia. I have a cement tank as well. Something else must be the cause for the increased Ammonia level.

Hello, im from Brazil and bought Dimilin from indonesia. They say 0.37g per 1k L. Should i follow the package dosage or 1g per 1kL, please?
We could have a different potency of Dimilin. If the instructions for you is 0.37g then I recommend you follow it to be safe.

It's a precaution, because during the first few days after Dimilin application we cannot do our daily partial water changes.
So we are taking care of the water quality basically.

Good day Sir did you turn off your UV light during the process of curing your pond with dimilin powder?
You may leave the UV Light On. I leave it On in all my Dimilin application sessions.
UV Light destroys the DNA of organisms/bacteria. Dimilin is a fish-friendly chemical so UV light will not affect its potency.

I saw a post mentioned carbon filter need to be remove, is it a must? I didn't. Anyway, how do I know I have a carbon filter? Since I can't post the picture here, I can see my filter have two kind of material, one is blue and one is black. Would black means it is for sure carbon?
@@next3884 @NexT by your visual description I'm thinking that black item could be just a bio-foam or it could also be a foam that's charged with activated carbon that's why the black color.
So you see it's difficult for me to say what that black item is.
But you'd really need to remove any carbon filter of sort in your filtration so that the potency of Dimilin Powder would not be reduced.
So take your time in analyzing what that black item is. No rush.

@@michaeljamesvelada8969 the best time is when you're prepared and ready to do it. Write down your schedule so it's easy to execute your plan.
I'd recommend you do it when you can monitor your pond for the next three hours after application.

Hey bro, may i know how much dimilin i will use for my 7ft x 3ft x 4ft pond?
The water volume from your dimension is estimated at 2,378 liters.
So 2.3 grams of Dimilin Powder is what you need. But it's safe to round it up to 2.5 grams.
Recommend Dimilin dosage is 1 gram per 1,000 liters of water.

Hello Ol, the fasting is actually a step to take care of the water quality. Since in the first few days after Dimilin Application we can't do our daily partial water changes. So we don't feed so we'd get less poop and hopefully take care of the water quality.
This only apply for sick koi?

Bro will the anchor worms die even if it's attached to my molly fishes?
The dimilin will kill the anchor worm. However I have experienced that removing the anchor worm from smaller fishes like molly fishes will cause more harm to the fish and must be really painful.
In my guppies I tried pulling anchor worms from them in two occasions. It did not go well for the guppies. The injury caused from pulling the anchor is just too much for their small bodies.
What i meant was, will the anchor worms still die after i put dimilin even if i won't pull it?

From personal experience double dosing is safe. That is 2 grams of Dimilin Powder per 1,000 liters of water.
But I have read statements like these online

Sir, What is the % concentration of Dimilin powder you are applying to your koi pond ?
I use the 25% wettable powder version of Dimilin Powder.
This is not the 100% Dimilin because that one is not water soluble. I have tried my best dissolving that in water but to no avail. Even after hours of trying still a lot of undissolved Dimilin is present in the sokution.

You can do your partial water change before the second application.
So partial water change first. After doing the water change do the second Dimilin application.
In this way we preserve the potency of the freshly applied Dimilin.

30% water change is ok, just make sure it does not have high chlorine content. Or you can stock some water 2 days before the water change and use that for your water change.

If using dimilin for a current problem with anchor worm, should the visible worms be removed from the fish during the application of treatment or will the worms fall off on their own?
It's recommended that we remove the anchor worms that are visible. It a 2 man job unless sedation is doable. One person to hold the fish steady and another person doing the removal using tweezers. Not easy to do specially if you have a hyper active koi on your hands. But no rush, take your time.
After removing the anchor worm an open wound will be the next thing to handle. So make sure your pond has the best water quality you can make it have. Better water quality will help a lot in the self-healing of the wounded koi.
I did this once on a 12 inch Karasu Koi. After I removed anchor worms I placed the Karasu in a quarantine tub for 10 days. That quarantine tub has an air stone, an overhead filter with bio-foam-pads, and netting on top to protect it from jumping. Water in the quarantine tub was from the pond with Dimilin applied already. No feeding while in the quarantine tub. The visible wounds slowly became hard to identity until it was gone. After that I placed him back on the pond and everything was ok.

Dimilin kills SNAILS? I'm having a big problem with small snails in my koi pond.
Interesting question. Since Dimilin is absolutely safe to use I recommend that you try it. Snails are difficult to handle.
Do a 2 session application of Dimilin. Just need to find out the water volume of your pond then apply Dimilin powder at 1 gram per 1,000 liters.
So the hobby on this is mixed, BUT the short answer according to research by the US government is "At high enough concentrations and long enough exposures MAYBE, depending on the snail"
Dimilin interferes with Chitin development. MOST snails breath air and use a trapdoor to stop them from drowning. This is where the Chitin is. However they molt that far less frequently then say a Shrimp or Nymph. Some few (Like MTS) have gills and in those cases they can withstand much higher doses, with one Genus (Bladder snails) being able to live at 125mg/L, at least in the short term. I shouldn't need to tell you, dosing Dimilin at 125x the recommended dose by Koi keepers is a TERRIBLE idea.
HOWEVER its worth noting that the US government recommends we dose Dimilin in parts per BILLION rather then 1 part per million we dose it at. So the dose we are using is designed to hit anything, including MOST (but again not all) snails.
I say most. We in the Hobby use Dimilin to deal with Anchor worms which are...more persistent due to, lacking chitin except when young. The US government (and most governments) are trying to kill Mosquito larvae (to prevent Malaria), and flies (for the prevention of Flystrike). Thus they target 40PPB where its strong enough to kill most insect larvae, but give certain important insects a chance to recover (Like Damselflies).
So like I said... its complicated. Some people have reported great success with it, but they typically use a large and repeated. I myself am tracking down Dimilin for the opposite reason. My indoors aquarium got Damselflies in it, and my goal is to save the snails but butches the damselflies.

283 liters is equivalent to 75 gallons. So by my estimate 0.3 to 0.5 grams of Dimilin will be sufficient.
0.5 grams will be double dosage for you, quite strong but still safe and acceptable levels.

Yes John, kabayan tayo bro. Ang shrimp kasi may exoskeleton rin and that's definitely made of chitin. Yan rin actually ang area of attack the Dimilin powder, sa development ng chitin. Kaya I don't recommend application of Dimilin kapag nasa tank pa yung mga shrimp.
Possible ba na malagay muna sila for 2 weeks sa ibang tank while you apply Dimilin?

@@patrickaztig03 Sa last session mo ng Dimilin application count ka ng 5 days from that last session. On 6th day onwards partial daily water change ng 20% for the next 5 days.
After that safe na ibalik yung shrimps since by then wala na yung presence ng Dimilin sa water. If meron man hindi na potent to cause harm.

@@shemmayonila7805 are you concerned they might get hungry? Koi are ok with fasting. In my own experience longest I went with no feeding is 21 days.
May I know how long not to change water after apply the Dimilin ?
You can do a partial water change on the night before your second Dimilin application. That would be on the night of Day 7. The following day you will have to do the second application of Dimilin Powder. Then do your regular partial water change at Day 14.
After that you can continue your regular partial water change schedule.
