The film's a Western so the song works quite well with what I'm planning. This really puts a powerful spin on Fjord's story. He plays it off so well in game that you almost buy it. Until you string it together like this and see how profoundly sad and lonely parts of his background are. So well done!
I love how Beau's casual comment at the end of the first song, "did somethin' happen?" transitions so abruptly into the second song, "Watching." It's like a bucket of cold water to the face, waking up the listener from the idealized Western sound of "Name's Fjord, the J is Silent" (nice reference to Django in Chains, btw) as the creeping dread of U'katoa's presence and influence sets in. Excellent.
Just made the glorious mistake of listening to this while walking back from a test. “Watching” came on just as I stepped out into the cold night, with not a soul in sight, and I’ve never felt such primal fear in my life. Good work, dude.
This is waaaay better than most LoFi, particularly with all the snippets of story beats worked in, but I'm afraid to keep listening for fear of spoilers. I'll be back...
I can't get over that metallic slicing sound that makes the beat in pact of the blade, it sounds so cool!!!! pushes an already cool song over the edge into being my definite favourite
@@autumnorange613 I don't know if you listen to other works when working on these lofi pieces, but I'd really recommend the John Rutter Requiem. It has kind of dark start but then changes into beautiful sweeping melodies while surrounding the topics of death and religion.
Travis actually just referenced this song in the most recent episode, saying that it was really really good, that's how I found it, and I'm so glad I did!!!
At least my 10th listen and I just heard the Cad line "Sleep well with your bad decisions" at the end of Femme Fatale, absolutely iconic. Already such a gorgeous haunting song too with Megami
@@grimrider3807 i disagree immensely, they are getting more connected with each episode. Not to mention the fact that you miss huge amounts of in-jokes, secrets, easter eggs, deep context. On top of that, you miss sams incredible snappy whit as scanlan, percy's badass insanity and grogs hilarious antics. I cant even imagine how much i wouldnt be able to appreciate with the MN if i hadnt first seen VM.
2nd Campaign is easier to start with imho, and honestly, if you can't appreciate MN without VM, that's on you, not on the content. They are independent stories set in the same world, MN is not a sequel. Noticing the connections is nice, but I feel like a lot of old school critters overvalue the necessity to be up to date on VM. It's enjoyable without that too. I personally prefer MN, as their journey is not that of stereotypical heroes in the same way that VM's was, but that's entirely subjective. That all said, if you do have the time and energy, and don't care about being on pace with the new episodes, I too would recommend starting with the 1st campaign. Mostly because the production value drop from MN to early VM is so distinct that it's hard to ignore. Your mileage may vary of course.

When I got my Spotify year in review it was my most played song of 2020. When I got the family together this morning and went to the playlist I was so disappointed to see it had been removed. I read the situation on Twitter and I understand but I just want to be another voice of admiration and support and let you know how much your music is appreciated
So now that it's back, will there be two versions of the song across different platforms? Love em both, but the first version is what caught my attention and lead me down the rabbit hole into discovering Critical Role, and I'd hate to see it disappear.
The Western Vibes with the unsettling chords and the more broken up sound bytes of fjord of this album vs the more melancholy but sweet and flowy sound of Refjorged with Fjord asking questions and learning and having conversations in the background are such a great contrast of Fjord at the beginning versus Fjord now. His transformations has been so gorgeous like I'll do an occasional rewatch of some of the earlier episodes and it'll be like a fucking whiplash with Fjord (some of it because of the accent) but also how much darker a character he used to be.

Mind if I ask what happened to "Name is Fjord, the J is Silent"? I love all of your work, but the change to the songs opening was very apparent, and I really miss the original version. Any specific reason for the change?
My rescue dog absolutely freaks out during thunderstorms, even with anxiety meds and a safe space to hide in. Names Fjord calms him down super fast, every time. Maybe it has something to do with his Texan puppyhood - thanks for making something super awesome not only for the critter community, but also one very anxious dog.
It's weird to say I feel nostalgic about this because it's not that long ago, but I do. I was finishing up my masters when this arc was coming along, and this mixtape captures something perfect about some of the places my mind were going. Good times. Still good times now, but this captures *those* good times.
Was ready for this drop, and wasn’t expecting it to be that good due to the very different types of music that I knew would clash. But holy shit was I way wrong, this album rocks! Pact of the Blade is an especially GREAT Mashup of instruments from different genres, all with a satisfying lofi tone. You absolutely NAILED it!

I've been listening to Making Amends on repeat since this was released. I relate to Fjord's story in many ways. This song, fittingly the last on the album, really does embody the sound of the beginnings of healing in that regard. I can't imagine the time and thought you must have put into crafting each song to do this with their respective themes. I personally appreciate analyzing them in that light. Thank you so much for all your hard work. I hope you're as happy with the end results of this album as we are!
I'm trying to do something productive with this in the background, but it quickly became listening to this masterpiece while doing something productive in the background.
This is saving me during the last day preparing for my senior thesis show. The fifth 15 hour day in a row with little sleep, but this helped renew my energy.
Hot sh*t the bass and melody licks are spot on. This is high quality, and I can tell a lot of thought and love went into this. You've outdone yourself again.
I first found this while I was still on campaign 1. I listened to the first few songs and loved them, but decided to stop myself to avoid spoilers. This week I finally got far enough into campaign 2 to not get spoiled. Listening to the second half of this album, I am definitely not disappointed at all! Can't wait to binge some more so I can listen to Refjorged soon!

I really love how through this mix we go through Fjord's character developpement and story. It really is a fun and relaxing refresher of the story so far. Great job, it's really helped me calm down and focus on stuff i have to do or at least stay relaxed through this.
So I’ve been listening around to some lo-fi music, in general (not CR based) and this is seriously some of the best compositions. The use of instruments, vocals, and the beats. It’s all put together so awesomely! It just makes it even better that it’s for Critical Role :)
Obviously several of these songs slap extremely hard...but damn does Matt Mercer's description of the dream in "Strange Dreams III. Falling Stars" give me fucking chills combined with the track.

The Seventh Natural start on campaign 2. They aren’t related and the second one is better.
Both campaigns are good, campaign 1 just starts slow and it starts in the middle of the campaign.

The Western Vibes with the unsettling chords and the more broken up sound bytes of fjord of this album vs the more melancholy but sweet and flowy sound of Refjorged with Fjord asking questions and learning and having conversations in the background are such a great contrast of Fjord at the beginning versus Fjord now. His transformations has been so gorgeous like I'll do an occasional rewatch of some of the earlier episodes and it'll be like a fucking whiplash with Fjord (some of it because of the accent) but also how much darker a character he used to be.

My rescue dog absolutely freaks out during thunderstorms, even with anxiety meds and a safe space to hide in. Names Fjord calms him down super fast, every time. Maybe it has something to do with his Texan puppyhood - thanks for making something super awesome not only for the critter community, but also one very anxious dog.

It's weird to say I feel nostalgic about this because it's not that long ago, but I do. I was finishing up my masters when this arc was coming along, and this mixtape captures something perfect about some of the places my mind were going. Good times. Still good times now, but this captures *those* good times.

Was ready for this drop, and wasn’t expecting it to be that good due to the very different types of music that I knew would clash. But holy shit was I way wrong, this album rocks! Pact of the Blade is an especially GREAT Mashup of instruments from different genres, all with a satisfying lofi tone. You absolutely NAILED it!

I've been listening to Making Amends on repeat since this was released.
I relate to Fjord's story in many ways. This song, fittingly the last on the album, really does embody the sound of the beginnings of healing in that regard.
I can't imagine the time and thought you must have put into crafting each song to do this with their respective themes. I personally appreciate analyzing them in that light. Thank you so much for all your hard work. I hope you're as happy with the end results of this album as we are!

I first found this while I was still on campaign 1. I listened to the first few songs and loved them, but decided to stop myself to avoid spoilers. This week I finally got far enough into campaign 2 to not get spoiled. Listening to the second half of this album, I am definitely not disappointed at all! I really love how through this mix we go through Fjord's character developpement and story. It really is a fun and relaxing refresher of the story so far. Great job, it's really helped me calm down and focus on stuff i have to do or at least stay relaxed through this.
