This is a true work of art. From the attention to detail to the consistency in the music, it's a really beautiful thing to see. It's actually tragic that such an amazing overworld is only used for the contest, as the actual concept of the world would make a fantastic hack. I would be surprised if you don't receive an exceptionally high score.
Very, very nice! It seems you took the concept of floating island and ran away with it. :P I quite like the rain affects in the second world, and the water HDMA in the water world. The scrolling clouds are also nice in the third submap. Great job! :D
I had multiple thoughts while watching this video : 1) Wait, what, is this an SMW overworld ? 3) O_O 4) How come you aren't you working at Nintendo yet ? 5) This would've made an awesome Yoshi's Island 3. 6) Detail, decoration, eyecandy everywhere ! 7) Seriously- original graphics, music, OW sprites (!), univeerse, game progress... The only thing this piece of art (it's a shame it will never be a game...), if it lacks something, would be funny level names ala Yoshi's Island. Else, such an OW !

The clouds in the main overworld are transluscent layer 3, and the raindrops are generated by a cluster sprite.
