      If you wish to make it easier, as I do, just stop, look at the screen they are on, then start the Video again. If you don't quite get it just back the Video up a bit and start that segment again, until you catch up! That is what I must do anyway!

      Instead of using that
      Don’t charge your phone overnight Because it stays at 100 percent longer which heats up your battery
      This will degrade your battery over time

    • @juanpoveda7205
      @juanpoveda7205 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tahmidabdin4625 that’s just not true. The point of it is to let your battery rest overnight and minimize the time it spends at 100%. Phones nowadays are smart and don’t actually run current through the battery once it reaches 100%. Simply touch your phone while it’s charging at 100% and you will see it doesn’t get hot whatsoever.

    Another great advice is to switch off GPS in the weather App and just choose the city where you are. As long as you are not travelling all day long, it is unnecessary for the phone to check your location dozens of times a day if you are not leaving the town or city anyway.

    This video was helpful! I do have one concern regarding updating my iPhone. I currently own the 11 and I’ve been hearing that updating it can also cause massive battery drainage and my maximum capacity has already went from 100% from 92% within a span of 5 months since buying the phone.
    After doing everything from the video, would updating the iOS also cause my battery’s maximum capacity to drain even more? Just out of curiosity.

    Don’t force close your apps on iPhone
    Apple itself advice their users to never force close apps as it reduces the life of your battery
    Ok Android u must close as it uses RAM due to its process called “garbage cleaning”
    but on iPhone u must not close all apps
    They will not run in the background and will not use your battery but when u force close them and reopen them then it uses a lot of power to reboot that app.
    I ruined my previous iPhone battery life by force closing apps

      @ndeeanka 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      i used to thought that was true, but few days ago i contacted apple support and i chatted with an advisor and asked about that theory, and they said its not true, in fact leaving apps in the background consumes more battery because they stay in the background, theyr not in use but theyr in the background which just consumes your battery...so yeah

    • @mikldude9376
      @mikldude9376 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@mokhan1291 Of course , that is assuming that the particular app sitting in the background is not sucking the life out of your battery while just sitting there.
      Apps can be tricky little buggers , some apps may even become active in the background without you knowing if they at times work in conjunction with other apps , i have seen this first hand.

  • @Blarnix

    The close out tip is pretty stupid in my opinion. It’s well known it’ll actually hurt your battery in the long run if you have your background app refresh managed decently. RAM holds it, not the CPU.
    And do not turn off the Wi-Fi calling location. It’s for emergency services to attempt to determine where you are.

    3:20 The WIFI Calling Location is on because when you use WIFI Calling on iPhone it keeps your e911 information stored when you set up WIFI Calling. Turning this off will make it near to impossible for 911 services to track your location in an immediate emergency that you can’t speak and the phone and they are trying to locate you.

    Reduce White point is a great battery saver. I would add to that by checking it in the Accessibility Shortcut and adding Accessibility Shortcut to Control Center. Nothing worse than having low white point then walking outside on a sunny day.

      My alternative to this is to schedule "Downtime" on the hours you won't be using your phone. You still get emergency calls and calls from your close contacts, and it will stop the startup of apps that you don't need, saving battery life.

    I disabled my 5G and went exclusively LTE and I'm guessing I got double the battery life. Not sure exactly. It's hard to measure but the difference is quite dramatic. I can only get 5G when I go into town and didn't notice any difference in performance between the two. My Mini 12 is only for yakity yak and occasional texting. Rarely do I use emergency internet.

    I have background apps off completely and all of them still show me notifications when there is something new. I see absolutely no impact with the refresh totally off. I just got the iphone 13 and I came here and to your other vidoe for iphone 13 settings to be sure I get everything. They cloned my phone for me at the store, so when I came here it was already off. I must have turned it off on my old phone (from your videos, thanks guys!) and have forgotten it was even off! No negative impact. I get all my messages right away.

  • @matatoto9805

    Thanks, great video. My doubts are with tip #3, where you guys advise to close opened apps to save up battery. If you do that, then whenever you have to open those apps, the iPhone will have to reload them from scratch instead of opening in the state you left it (since as Apple says, it's on "standby mode"), draining more battery in the process. About BG opened apps, Apple states "After you switch to a different app, some apps run for a short period of time before they're set to a suspended state. Apps that are in a suspended state aren’t actively in use, open, or taking up system resources." meaning these apps won't be actually running in the Background and therefor draining the phone's battery.
    But am I wrong? And why?

    • @jerrycarroza4775
      @jerrycarroza4775 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hi Mata, I’ve heard of this too. That it takes more energy for the iPhone to open the apps again than if you just left it and come back to where it was left at. However, if we won’t come back to the apps anymore, we can close them up, no problem. Let me know if I’m not right. Thanks 🙏

    I've long been wanting to ask this question about the "Optimized Battery Charging" setting... OK, the description below the button says this works because "iPhone learns from your daily charging routine," but, what happens if your 'schedule' is very erratic, so you really don't have much of a "daily routine"? Will it still manage to improve battery efficiency? Or could it somehow end up being worse?

    • @khairulhafidz15
      @khairulhafidz15 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually my concerns too. Hence why I have it turned off. My charging schedule is all over the place and I don't charge the phone overnight. Plus, I think the "iPhone will learn" part actually consumes your battery because it's trying to analyze your usage of the phone.

    • @davithdevries6774
      @davithdevries6774 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All this does is, if you charge your phone regulary overnight: charge it to 80% initially and only to 100% 2 hours or so before u usually wake up. This will preserve battery health/capacity over time (a battery sitting at 100% doing nothing is bad for it's health). It WILL display a message on the lock screen when this in effect, something like "Optimized battery charging enabled, charging will finish at latest at 5:00 AM", with a button to continue charge up to 100% anyway. If u have it enabled and NEVER charge it overnight it does not harm nor benefit it. My bed times differ from 10 PM to 2-3 AM (and wake up 6-9AM), and it still uses it regulary, so it's quite smart. The charging pattern is logged anyway, it's part of iPhone's internal log system (some of the files you can find under Privacy, Analytics, Analytics data), it does not consume anything. It would be used by Apple technicians if something is wrong with your battery/charging.
      Bottomline: It's not some witchcraft that will optimize your battery efficiency during normal charging. If you can manage to charge it "manually" with a slow charger (0,5-1,5A, so

    Wi-Fi Dialing @8:20 - For United States Users !
    Also can be used when you are outside of the United States.
    1. Toggle off Cellular Data
    2. Turn on Airplane Mode
    3. Enable Wi-fi Calling
    This will avoid accruing Roaming cost. Yes, your Mobile service may work while abroad w/o wi-fi dialing but u will incur expensive roaming charges. Wait until you get to your Hotel or a Wi-fi connection and adjust the settings above. In fact departing from the United States you should adjust the settings before arrival so that you do not forget.

  • @yasim9435
    @yasim9435 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Presentation is great but missing part is more explanation of side effects, like parallax effect - screen object animation/shifting with device movement so icons look like floating over background. So in this case the effect of enabling setting is purely cosmetic, while other setting might impact connection recovery performance…

    Optimized battery charging can show up as it’s on in settings but if you don’t have certain settings turned on such as significant locations then it doesn’t work.
    This is straight from their website.
    Optimized charging is designed to engage only in locations where you spend the most time, such as your home and place of work. The feature doesn't engage when your usage habits are more variable, such as when you travel. Because of this, some location settings must be enabled for Optimized Battery Charging to activate. None of the location information used for this feature is sent to Apple.
    Here are a list of settings that must be enabled:
    Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Location Services.
    Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > System Customization.
    Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations > Significant Locations.

    As a former insider, I can tell you with 100% certainty that Apple has multiple teams dedicated to planned obsolescence. Battery drain, start up times, other bugs are purposely baked into each new iOS. It’s done more gradually now as a drip feed but you can still easily spot the bigger bug drops (14.7). Planned obsolescence is usually carefully weighed against perceived reliability and brand loyalty. But Apple learned long ago that those scales weren’t in any real danger of tipping. I know from internal conversations (2014-2016) and project goal outlines, that even the fixes you’re talking about are baked in as a perceived control.
