I really like career mode but I agree, the bugs are awful. I mean, when you land after a 6 hour flight and no stop short box appears and the flight won't end. That is so _damn annoying._ Also, make sure when you look at the flight plan ( _before the flight_ ) that it doesn't just end at some random point before the final otherwise it usually means ( in my experience ) it's going to go pair shaped. Return to the main menu and try again. Oh and Happy Christmas.
I had the "proceed to short" and I did. Then it prompted me to press a button to respond to ATC but no matter what I did, keyboard or gamepad, the button did nothing, so I had to skip. I love how buttons randomly stop working and sometimes the mouse won't look around with the right button. And custom cameras sometimes won't work either. The game just wants to annoy you. Controls should be the one thing that is stable in any game.
Thank you Huddison for all the videos and tutorials you publish. It has been a huge help for all users of Microsoft Flight simulator 2020 and 2024. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2025.
Merry Flymas to you. Worst: Tail number doesn't stick, aircraft icons don't always show in menus, menus can be a bit choppy, photogrammetry can look terrible when close-ish. Best: Visuals, photography missions, loading times, more aircraft at default, generally smoother performance.
All the best Huddison and chat. Hope everyone has a good one however you celebrate it. I'm really looking forward to installing all my content locally and having the option to alter the rudder sensitivity with the controller. I may just plug in a mouse and try using that to change the option.
Another enjoyable video, watching it with a cuppa in bed before hitting the sack for the night (1am here in London). I've not tried career or world photographer mode yet as I'm having too much fun doing my own thing atm. But your quick show of the latter has reminded me that i do want to try that out. I'll get to career further down the line once we've had another update or two to iron out some of the bugs that I've read about. I agree with you that the controls interface should have been better implemented although I've kind of got used to it now. The synchronising things between aircraft is a must fix. It does make me wonder how these sort of things slip through.. the inverted axis was nuts to allow through for instance. I love the ease of setting fight plans up and having them transferred to the ATC and Avionics via the EFB. Not sure if that was available in 2020 as I didn't play that a great deal but i really find it great in 2024. Mouse look on Xbox should have been an early fix.. total nightmare and another thing that should not have been seen in the released sim. Totally love the sim though and am going to be spending endless hours on it over the coming years. Oh and I actuality enjoy the turbulence effects.. maybe i haven't seen it at its worst but what I have experienced has been really cool 👍
One of the things I’ve hated is the ground support stuff, graphically the redraw distance makes the vehicles and people looks horrible and usually partially rendered unless you move super close, the ground staff don’t seem to have a purpose apart from looking ugly, what happened to the aircraft marshall’s? I’m of the opinion if they don’t improve the immersion (or in fact detract from it) get rid of it or at least give us the option to reduce or remove them (what happened to the options to reduce the sim objects in 2020) oh and btw this is on Xbox series X. Thanks for the channel.
Great video. And a very happy Christmas to you 🙂What I dislike most is that the helicopters suddently "eject" up in the air when trying to hover over or landing on a target.
For me it steered me back to DCS & X Plane. I really get turned off by the gamey, arcade feel. I like my sims gritty and honest. The opening scenes with that weirdo in the pink suit, 'inclusiveness' with the black, female captain, same sex passengers in mission mode etc really put me off. I don't appreciate woke, political, propaganda in my flight sims.
Merry Christmas: Worst thing: The world map doesn't show what country you are in or help you with entering airports or coordinates in World photographer mode. (This is aside from the broken controls of course) Best thing: All the little details I keep discovering such as being able to open a helicopter door while flying and lean out, close the door and the movement won't let you back in, lol
VR is blurry, and laggy when looking to the sides on low altitude (just as it was at the start of msfs 2020) The avro rj does not align gps. When starting vr when already in the avro rj cockpit the sim hangs and get ctd after a while. Shimmering on edges in vr. Control settings does seem to not always being remembered or saved. Mouse lags at times or need to activate the vr controller to get the mouse pointer back. Seems like it is working fine on 2d. But in vr there are so many problems and bugs that i just have given up on the new sim and use the msfs2020 while waiting for 2024 to get better. 2024 looks really nice and has some nice features and the scenery looks better of course, but for now the 2020 with its already good scenery and flight model and also stable it will be the better option still for a while.
I flew a 4 hour mission that took me over the Pyrenees with cross winds of 67kt and gust up to 77kt and wind shear with drops of 2000ft + I had to fly manually as the auto pilot kept stalling the plane. A hair-raising horror fight that ended up in catastrophe when I was hit with another bout of shear on landing, slaming the plane onto the tarmac and failing the mission. All of that on a 1 star mission with a bloody Cesna 172!
Everytime I do a 2 hour+ mission in the skyhawk, my engine dies out. If I land, I fail the mission. If i skip, i dont get shit. Any tips for restarting my engine mid air? I basically limit myself to shorter missions.
For me the worst feature has been how complicated the graphical settings are. I'm having horrible pop-in problems but no matter which of the graphic options I change, it doesn't seem to get better or worse. It isn't an issue with data streaming as I can make the planes pop in and out just by moving he camera. The draw distance, especially for other aircraft, is ludicrously low. Even 50 ft away, NPC planes are low-poly models without even landing gear on them. Same with cars, people and trees.
Ive refunded it because the performance is just disrespectfull. I lost 25-30% performance when compared to 2020 in my 3060Ti and i5 11400K and get worse visuals at times. Pathetic.
I took a chopper into Africa and spotted a herd of water buffalo. They were spooked by the chopper so I landed and walked over near them. They weren’t spooked and I was able to get quite close for a photo. I’m not a photographer so it wasn’t great but the experience was one I’ll repeat for sure.
The best features are the visuals, the startup/load time, career mode, and photo mode. The worst features are over exaggerated turbulence, career mode plagued with violation bugs and un flyable missions, the AI traffic with floating aircraft and ground personnel walking though planes, and just the mismatched voices to the sex of the copilot. I say these are the worst features because it ruins the immersion very quickly. I’m still not sure why they just didn’t build the digital world , career mode, and flight physics and bring over the good things in FS2020. I just wish they would have test it more and took their time putting this out and thought things a little more thoroughly like making helicopter licenses totally separate from fixed wing. Unfortunately to open up your own passenger company you must do the helicopter transport which requires 3 helicopters licenses.
The one feature that I was really hoping for, but of course it didn't come. was just a simple ability to play co-op co-pilot with a friend. It's absolutely unbelievable that it's not available 😮
Just to add to what you and others have said, a 'dislike' for me is that the 'free flight' is less appealing than 2020 (e.g. fewer POIs, no marketplace add-ons yet). A 'like' for me is the huge improvement in scenery and cockpit rendering (avionics fixed, seasonality and night flying, roadways, etc.) Based on mostly GA flying on Xbox S. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas, and Happy Flying!
Overall, I really like MSFS 2024. Setting it to Ultra graphics, and using FG in the settings and the AutoFPS app, I can get over 100 FPS (not that it's needed!) with a TLOD over 300 and an OLOD over 250 - and I don't have an RTX 4090! (The fact I fly VFR in relatively simple aircraft to replicate my real-world flying probably helps...) A lot of the new aircraft in the standard version are great; I'm particularly enjoying flying the Joby S4 - it's a very versatile aircraft which is interesting and easy to fly in all phases of flight. The thing I dislike most about the sim, however, is the fact that it won't allow me to run my RAM at its advertised speed. My system was built and set up for me, and was configured to have the RAM running at 5200 MHz. For a couple of weeks, the sim kept crashing within a few minutes of takeoff no matter how 'dumbed down' I made the settings. Research on the internet revealed that MSFS 2024 doesn't like anything overclocked and sees RAM running at its fastest speed as being overclocked. I had to go into the BIOS and turn off the XMP in order to get the SIM consistently stable. I now have it running well and am enjoying it but wish Microsoft and Asobo would let us run it on our systems with the RAM operating at the maximum speed the manufacturers deem safe. Not everyone would know about BIOS settings, let alone how to access and change them, and none of us should have to run our systems sub-optimally.
Im not going to list the worst... theres plenty. However, I love the scenery and clouds. Sensational. Try the alps or african plains. And the paraglider was a really unexpected surprise. I only tried it because nothing else worked, but its brilliant. Try turning off the engines and gliding above a large town or city, youll hear police cars, trucks reversing, very imersive!
Flew lower loon creek. The graphics are jaw dropping! That’s what I love the most. Having atc tell me to ascend to 3000 ft while I am landing is what I don’t like. Some of the missions require you to take the vision jet off in a farm field 😢
I hate some features such as no more ai auto pilot tools, the gps tablet is too big, those helicopters still hard to fly and to land. I'm not real pilot, I play the game just for fun and I don't realy like those boring civil career missions, unless there are war missions.
Fortunately that's not the case. Jorg and the team have been transparent all the way. Seeing the horrible launch I agree that they should have been way more prepared, and even postponed the launch. But 💩 happens, and I choose to see the bigger picture and what they aim to do. It will get better.
