Word spread like wildfire throughout RS while it was going down and I remember immediately hopping worlds and tele'ing straight to Falador to watch the shitshow. Probably 50+ people stacked on top of each other, following Durial around - half watching in horror, half hoping to grab some rare items. Then, it all suddenly stopped and I went back to fletching. It was surreal and, honestly, terrifying.

I never get why Jagex bans so many people participating in such actions. It's literally their problem. If Jagex didn't design anything to prevent something like this from happening, it's their own fault. It's like a dictatorship.
In software engineering, we say that it's impossible to prevent a piece of software from having bugs. A player can't prevent the bug from existing, but they can do the right thing and report it to Jagex instead of using it for their own short-term gain.
It is because it caused trouble to a lot of people that was just trying to have fun in a non pvp area and them got kicked in the nuts by the ones that were bugged. Since this may lead to people quitting the game, they have to enforce punishment to discourage that sort of behaviour.

I got to say this thraumatized me so much i played rs only for couple of days and i quit scared of playing that game and being killed everywhere. Even until couple years back i still thought that all pvp happened around falador and when i came back i never visited the town avoiding the combat. It didn't help that I was like 10 years old at that time.

6:00 He was account banned, not IP banned. An IP ban doesn’t really do anything. Most people get dynamic ip at home and will get a new one every so often. That means the guy you banned will be free and another home will get the banned IP later. It’s also easy to circumvent.

I walked through the Falador massacre not understanding the significance of the event. I remember watching people be killed in a safe area and thinking to myself, "is this some sort of event? Is there a prize...? Well fuck it I see 100 plus combats I'm avoiding this shit."
Yeah I remember that happening! A friend of my told me what was happening during that day so I logged in and saw it all happen. It was pure chaos I had to run away so I don’t loose any of my stuff lucky I got away. I didn’t have a way to video it at the time but same I wish I did.
Your experience is similar to time. I was on at the time, only thing was that I wasn't in World 111. A friend of mine (that I knew in real life that I lost through time growing up) (in game name SincMatters) called me up on the phone telling me not to go to World 111 there's 6 guys slaughtering people outside the Wilderness." Stayed on the phone and I don't remember the exact what he said of what happened but he said something around these lines. There was 6 people inside the arena and they were all teleported outside of the house. The Falador Massacre glitch from the perspective of my friend it wasn't the shrine considering he said there was 6 people in the arena, and he seen around 4 people (Durial included) running around killing each other. But there were 6 people he seen in the arena so he assumed the rest scattered which from what he hear today what he assumed was true. I don't remember the other names. Only remember 1 and that's Durials because he went down in history.

I started playing again the past few days, and I made a friend who just started a new account also who was actually there that day on the massacre though he didn't get banned.
I'm pretty sure anyone in that situation would have reacted the same exact way. I would have been soooo mad if Jagex banned me for playing the game the way it was asking to be played.
I don't think players should be banned due to the game being buggy. I tried RuneScape multiple times but actions like this prevented me from getting into it.

I walked through the Falador massacre not understanding the significance of the event. I remember watching people be killed in a safe area and thinking to myself, "is this some sort of event? Is there a prize...? Well fuck it I see 100 plus combats I'm avoiding this shit."

Yeah I remember that happening! A friend of my told me what was happening during that day so I logged in and saw it all happen. It was pure chaos I had to run away so I don’t loose any of my stuff lucky I got away. I didn’t have a way to video it at the time but same I wish I did.
Your experience is similar to time. I was on at the time, only thing was that I wasn't in World 111. A friend of mine (that I knew in real life that I lost through time growing up) (in game name SincMatters) called me up on the phone telling me not to go to World 111 there's 6 guys slaughtering people outside the Wilderness." Stayed on the phone and I don't remember the exact what he said of what happened but he said something around these lines. There was 6 people inside the arena and they were all teleported outside of the house. The Falador Massacre glitch from the perspective of my friend it wasn't the shrine considering he said there was 6 people in the arena, and he seen around 4 people (Durial included) running around killing each other. But there were 6 people he seen in the arena so he assumed the rest scattered which from what he hear today what he assumed was true. I don't remember the other names. Only remember 1 and that's Durials because he went down in history.
