From a City fan, putting all rivalries aside for a moment, Wayne is an absolute legend of the game. Everytime the derby comes around, Wayne was always the player that i feard the most. An outstanding career. I genuinely do wish him all the best. There was nobody that we City fans loved to hate more than Wayne. Derbys wont feel the same without him.

Top goalscorer for club and country. All those trophies with Manchester United. And all that while playing mostly as a no. 10 or on the wings in his prime years? He is surely the superior player overall amongst all the players you have mentioned.

I feel sad how he was treated for his last two years at United & I feel he doesn't quite get the recognition he deserves. Chelsea fan but I've got admit - Wayne Rooney was an absolute legend. His determination and passion, been through every change and he's still had the same determination and passion. People, when he was there, mocked him and criticised him but now they've realised how crucial he was.

Gab Simich Well his performances in general over the last few years have been poor and rightfully he's been criticised, especially since he was on such huge wages and was still always forced into the first team until last season, due to his name and reputation. But now that he's gone all that can be put into perspective as we don't have to deal with the issue of what to do with Rooney now, so we can actually look at the positives and admire his status as a legend. Sorry for the long reply but as a Man Utd fan it's easy to understand why many have gone from criticising him to praising him in such a short space of time, even if it does seem hypocritical.
