    His first words was that it is dangerous for your safty to ride the road with this bicycle. He didn't tell you it is illegal. After you told him you are coming from France and you go to Turkey, he think again, not to continue the conversation. So he only advised you to be careful, drive on the right end of the road, so the traffic cannot hit to, and told you goodbye.

      He was legitimately concerned for you and told you to ride closer to the edge! In USA you will be arrested for riding this bike on the highway.

    There is a spray for cleaning connectors (it is for car batteries and cables, but I don't see why it would not work on your bike) and you can buy it on gas stations. That is something you should have with you, especially because you are going to very dusty regions. And 10 out of 10 for stress handling, I would probably kick the hell out of bike after 10 minutes :)))))))

    • @KinoYves
      @KinoYves  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, that's a good idea for the connectors cleaner. And thank you for the stress handling, I was not like that some years ago, but now I kind of manage to keep control.

    I have really enjoyed watching this video (and also your others actually). I really like how even in all the hardships you still do your best to see the positive and keep on smiling. I find it amazing that of all places that you could stop, you end up having lunch at Motel Restaurant San Marino in Gorski Izvor and chat with the owner, Marin at 7:00. I have met Marin and his wife and they are some of the warmest and most hospitable Bulgarians I know. Keep it up and have a safe rest of the trip to Cape Town!

  • @rdkuless
    @rdkuless หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is why i chose a non priprietory battery/motor ... E010 System error on the STEPS doesn't give you any information.. With the Bafang motors, you can use any correct voltage battery... if there is an error code, it defines the problem.. ie: battery/speed sensor/ torque/... it tells you what to check.. Many batteries that have a 4 fin connector often get out of alignment and you loose the connection between the battery and the motor.. I chose the new battery that have a 2/3 "pin" connection that don't have that problem.. Bafang parts are easy/quick to find anywhere in the world.. and error diagnosis is easy to understand and locate.

    The cop said you're too slow and it's also too dangerous for you to be on that road.
    There are more than enough small and smaller roads leading to the same place, don't think that what your gps shows you is the only road.
    You didn't have any indications that you're on the road and somebody could not see you hence the cop stopped you and they gave you the vest.

    • @KinoYves
      @KinoYves  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I checked other roads on the GPS, and taking another road would have doubled the distance I had to ride, so no, they were no other roads leading to the same place. And the vest was given to me by another driver, not by the cop.

    • @dwartbg1
      @dwartbg1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@KinoYves Yes, I know it was given by another driver, they cared about you just like the cop. Accidents can happen without having some light reflective clothing or banners. And yes, that's what cyclists do in the country they take the detours and smaller roads. If you were a local you could've been fined. And the cop wasn't aggressive at all in his mannerisms and he mostly said you need to be careful.

    • @KinoYves
      @KinoYves  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's true, the cop was never aggressive. Though, all my bags are reflective, and many parts of my bike are also reflective, so for people who have their lights on, I should be highly visible. Also I have a safety flag, which is quite high and visible. It is the only time I had people saying that they could not see me.
      And for the back roads... I don't think that many cyclists choose to do 150 km in spite of 80 km. For me, it's one more day cycling, so it was definitely not an option to double the distance, especially as this was not a highway, it was the same kind of roads I have been riding without any problem in France, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia, so I don't see why it would be an issue in Bulgaria.

    Shimano and Bosch mid-drives work great until they don't.. they are proprietary and everything (even labor is very expensive). the batteries are 3 X the amount to replace.. I won't use them because they are impossible to get replacement if they fail. (E010).
    I only use Bafang kits that i know how to service and i can diabnose if there is a problem. with the bafang kits, you can find replacement parts anywhere: aliexpress, ebay, or bike shops and ebike mechanics.. with shimano or bosch, they tell you the part you need willl be here is 3 weeks.. :). then tell you "don't worry, be happy" bs

    Oh, gosh. Things come in multiples as they say. So glad you were able to fix the connectivity problem and keep going. I did want to ask you about your contingency plans with the omicron variant is spreading super fast across the globe. How have you prepared with the likely possibility of getting sick and needing time to recover? Wishing you well and safe travels.

    • @KinoYves
      @KinoYves  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, if I get sick, I would get cured locally if possible, or back in France, and then, I would resume the journey as soon as I can. But I don't really worry about it. Though, it could indeed change the planning of my journey, and if it happens, I would probably have to modify my plans according to the time I would be stuck somewhere to recover.
