  • A new campaign encourages employers to “Tear The Paper Ceiling”.
The initiative from Opportunity@Work and the Ad Council - with the support of 40+ businesses and nonprofits - encourages companies to look beyond the college degree requirement when hiring or promoting talent.
Byron Auguste, co-founder and CEO of Opportunity@Work, says employers are missing out by not considering STARs - people who are Skilled Through Alternative Routes.
“If you tear the paper ceiling, you can see what you're missing as a company.”
“STARs shouldn't have these barriers to opportunity. They should be able to deploy their valuable learning to more earnings, but it's not just for STARs. It's absolutely for employers and for industry, and for our society, because we need the problem-solving capacity that STARs have.”
