Just a short video essay about some of the reasons why Taxi Driver and Travis Bickle are "the best representations" of loneliness in cinema. I didn't want to go into too much detail so I kept it short and relatively simple as essays go. 🤔
The idea came from @1_jcman on TikTok.
Also I'm using a color correction so the movie doesn't actually look like that originally.
Ask me any questions in the comments and I will explain my views.
Song:
WHO CARES - Kyle Cox
Happy Go Lucky - Louis Adrien
00:00 - 01:35: Intro
01:36 - 3:29 Dialogue / Diary / Voice Notes
03:30 - 05:22: Technological World
05:26 - 07:03: Mental Health
07:05 - 08:50: New York Setting
08:51 - 11:00: Yap session 😹😹
Fair Use. I don't own Taxi Driver or Music, I have applied an education spin onto the content onscreen. I love Columbia pictures 😻😻😻
Thank you for watching
Taxi Driver doesn't feel like a movie, it feels like a documentary about the declining mental health of Travis. One of the most realistic and gritty films, ever.
Nice analysis, although I wouldn't say Betsy is 'intoxicated' with Palantine, it just seems she's neutrally working towards her employer's interests.
Lovely. Watched the movie for the first time last night
good one
Travis Bickle is a hero. I am just like him, lonely, wondering through a world full of decadent men and women.
Travis isn't lonely; he's an heroic archetype striving to transcend the deep depravity and meaninglessness of his surroundings.
