You can leave the fish in the net, weigh both, tare out the net to get the fish weight. Doing so quickly seems to work for me. Great video!
That's a good idea!
Glad you liked the vid. We feel very fortunate to have been blessed with the experience. As for depths fished 45' - 65' was the average depths fished with most fish suspended about 30' - 35
Big Lake Trout fan - this is my fave fishing video on YT I think. :)
Crazy! Great show!
James I want to thank you for all you info on this. After watching this video last yr I Picked up a St Croix 9 Foot trolling rod and a tekota 600lc spooled up with the same line setup as you. I took my Zodiac 11'6" dingy to the north shore 30 min in I caught my first coho. I did it again this weekend within 30 min of having that line in the water I got my first lake trout. So again Thank You James and Grant you guys are great.
thanx for using this line. i was debating trying it.
Correct. TH-cam doesn't seem to do "view by view" view tracking. We'll see jumps of 500 - 1,000 at times
i am just speachless those fish are giant u guys are great fisherman u guys deserve a thub=mbs up more like 1000!!!!!
fishing there is amazing I haven't been out there in a while but you can get addicted to the feeling of a fish being firm and fighting against the line especially a huge one like the salmon around there
Hi Jason - we were using the Shimano Tekota line counters in size 500 and 600.
Hi Takman74 -
We're fishing segmented lead core. So most of the reel is filled with mono or braid. To that we tie in 3, 4 or 5 colors of lead core. To the end of the lead core we add a 30' leader of 20# flouro. The 832 leadcore is getting us 8+ foot of depth per color so at 3, 4 and 5 colors our spoons are running approximately 25, 32 and 40 foot, respectively.
Earlier in the summer we were fishing deeper using the same Sufix 832 and able to get spoons down in excess of 80 feet on 10 colors.
WOW. Fantastic video guys. Shows some real expertise to be able to catch SO MANY big lakers! This is definitely one of my favorite of your videos. Keep em coming!!
Fantastic thanks for the advice videos will be going to blind River in SeptemberWill try the suffix for many years I have not had not had much success on the troll probably not fishing deep enough again thank you for the video
Push the bottom harder Dave. You can almost always get smaller trout at 60' down. These bigger fish are trickier-they boat spook down and out both...so these guys found a way to stay in the zone. I ran 832 behind planers and 2 colors under rigger ball and the riggers slammed fish like never before as long as we saw fish on the lectronics...I caught most of my fish at 37 ball plus 2 colors sufix
What I mean is stay closer to bottom so fish 60' down in 65fo. The numbers I gave you would be
37' down with 14' of sufix or about 51 down over 55-125 feet with many fish at about 100...i caught bigger fish over 150fow at similar depths, but I also ran some deeper lines with 5 colors
A double-double header. That's incredible!
What speed works best for this presentation? On the terminal side is there a swivel a few feet up from the spoon?
This is an old video but worth a shout out for how good it was. Being Michigan waters I imagine you're still close to the Grand Portage launch area for us Minnesota guys.
That was insane! I'd be buying a lottery ticket after that! I've used leadded line for years, but just for little Kokanee and stocker trout. That's nuts! Definately must try the Suffix.
I believe most of the spoons we used were Jim's Flashback spoons. Available from Marine General.
Absolutely no issues with break-offs. The 20# flouro we were using is more than strong enough to land even the largest lakers.
Is there a lead core that you can cast,I’m a trophy Largemouth Bass fisherman and I’m trying to get 8 to 10 4-6 oz glide bait down to 25 plus feet, fluorocarbon line doesn’t keep it down long enough, any feedback on my rant would be greatly appreciated thank you 👊👍
next one is mi.. say it i am wildly jealous... man its OK! whether you catch that one or not you are still a great man!
I subscribe to catch, eat and release. These fish are awesome tasty.
So are you putting out the whole 600 feet of the 832? That must be crazy.
A+++ Vid guys
What lb test lead line was it? I see a shot of a 18lb spool in the video but I didn’t hear a weight mentioned....
please bring me on a trip like this.
I should have been there. Damn.
Reminds me of salmon in Lake Michigan out of Port Washington, WI.
Well looks like I'm making my dad try lead core and plan a couple trips to superior..
Simply awesome. We have some good Lake Trout fishing here in southern Lake Huron but nothing like the monsters you caught in the vid. I also was curious about the tackle setup you guys were using and if you had any problems with breakoffs?
What brand was the greenish colored spoon
What time of year where you fishing during this video I know it’s a old video but I was wondering
Do you use barbs?
Brand of planer board? My yellow birds won't handle all that color 832.
Offshore Tackle
Can't believe they didn't weigh it??
Hey guys awesome video! I down rig for lakers lots up here in Fort Frances, ontario. Can you explain your rod, reel, line set ups? After this i gotta try leadcore!! Awesome video,
Where on superior are you fishing?
This is an insane trip, I fish steelhead on steelhead alley and have had some days that are worth bragging about, but man you guys caught some MONSTERS. Cant imagine the fight,,, I know how steelhead / trout/salmon fight and have caught my share of pigs 10-14lbs but nothing 30-40 lbs thats just unreal. I told myself If i get a 20 lb steelhead Ill mount her and hang up the waders and call it quits
None of those fish are over 30 lbs...but they still did insanely well with some big fish!
hasn't updated yet.
What type of boat is that?
What reels do you use , Brand, size?
I want to purchase one for trolling walleyes
Holy crap, those are some massive fish. I knew there were some monsters in superior, but not like that
Did you run all magnum spoons, and no flashers?
Correct, no flashers.
@@InDepthOutdoorsTV Thank you. On Tuesday I make my 1st attempt on lake Huron in my boat. I fish saginaw bay all the time for walleye since I live in Bay City. This is going to me a learning trip for lake Michigan.
Good luck!
where is this? im in sault ste marie ontario and wondering if im anywhere near where u guys got these?
Dude in red reminds me of Rick Bobby... if you ain't 1st ur last lmaooo
WOW WOW WOW, I'm thinking you could be selling those GPS waypoints for allot of cash, those are some amazing lakers!!!
I would gladly intern as an extra hand for catching fish.
