Can I say something from my heart? You were the first video I saw about handspans, you were so kind and helpful, and now, making handpan songs is one of my favorite things now! It’s a big thanks to you, and I feel in your debt.
"... a new beautiful instrument to carry your soul forward." Man, I just burst into tears. I was watching you play and thinking I need to reclaim my ability to play the instruments I already own before I invest in something new and then you went and said that. Beautiful, just... beautiful.
@@damien8949 You get what you give in life. I'd guess you have a lot of anger to go out of your way to put someone else down for their openness. Shame on you.
These drums are very healing. Feel funky? Pick one up and play. In 5 minutes or less, you are a different person. God Bless all the beautiful musicians for creating these magical instruments.
I like the sound of the hang drum. It has a steel drum tone but it is enclosed with a bit less resonance. Yes, I wish the price was alot less. These instruments are very relaxing
this is an awesome video, it was part of my decision making process in buying my first tongue drum, which I just received from Kaizen. Thank you for putting this together. For those awaiting their Kaizen drums... I got my drum. I dealt with Levi directly, and I was not involved with the indiegogo campaign. I bought it off the site in December 2016. I was really let down with the customer service. I was given an estimate of three weeks, which was consistent with the time indicated on the website. I was told "very soon", "ASAP", "in about a week" many times. After 18 frustrating weeks of emails I got my drum. It is exactly what I ordered, and I am happy with it. It sounds great. I don't mind waiting. What bothered me was the constant assurance that it was almost ready to ship, when it wasn't. If Kaizen would be straight with their customers and say "hey, I am backlogged, I have your order but it is going to take 4 months to get to you" I would have been cool with that. I would not have retracted my order. Perhaps that is the concern. This style of business will do more damage in the long run. All the best
I met someone who had one made from a propane tank and it sounded amazing. I've been fascinated by them ever since. I wish I could afford the bigger hand pan drums but, I think I might buy one of the smaller ones and give it a try. Thanks for the information!
Just ordered my RAV Vast! I have been dreaming about having a handpan for years and now I finally get to start my journey. I'll be learning to play the RAV and eventually hopefully get a handpan in a year or so!
Thanks to You, I totally changed my mind from hapi mini to Rav!!!!!!!!!!! Simply amazing! I believe everybody will have individual feeling about these instruments, but I just totally fallen in love in the last one! :)
Thanks guy. I have had ulnar neuropathy in my writing hand/arm for 28+ years now but I bought a 13 note 12 inch Happybuy steel tongue drum. I will be very limited of course but after I start out slow and get a feel for the tones and notes I'll be tuning in. Cool to hear the different tones, I bet that bigger one can do some special stuff.
I'm so happy I found this! I couldn't remember the name of the tongue drum, and now I know of so many more kinds just like it! Russian handpan RAV, so cool. Thank you.
Great to hear the comparisons of the different types of hand drum! I'm just waiting on my Zen Celtic Minor handpan, and considering a Rav Vast 2 while I wait so this is fantastic to get a better idea of the differences! Thanks for the video!!
Thanks so much for this video! I've always wanted a handpan but they're ridiculously expensive....the expense is certainly justified given that they're made by hand and whatnot, but it's just far outside my budget for now. Maybe in a few years I can afford one. I'm super glad that there's a more affordable (and portable) alternative! I'll definitely be picking up one of those small tongue(?) drums in the near future. I prefer the look of the Kaizen drum to the Hapi, but I'm worried about the customer service since some others have had issues with communication and excessively long waits, but as long as I get what I order (and hopefully it doesn't take TOO terribly long) I can deal.
this vid was so helpful. I have for a long time been wanting one of the above and didn't know the much one to get asa beginner. Super helpful. Thank you.
I'm glad i found this. I was looking for a handpan but it's not within my budget right now. hopefully next year once i find a place/ marker. I def like the sound of the Kaizen and its size. I might have to just order one of those for now.
Thanks for the comparison. I've had my rev vast 2 in Da major for about a month and It's a great addition to my show. writing some songs and using it in my songs. Amazing instrument.
I just bought the Hapi slim in C major. I am having trouble trying to play it with my hands, and prefer the mallets. Glad you mentioned it is a bit harder to play the Hapi with your hands, as I was worrying maybe mine was too tight. I love the drum. This is a great video, so lucky to have all those drum options to choose from!
love the vids brotha keep it up mad love from california!!! saving up for one of those Kaizen f Big bear tune going to take me a long time but im going to get one you inspired me to want to play thanks so much!

Hoody, I am getting one any day now. For me it was listening to SO many and what they sounded like. Like, that's great but weak in that part. If I was able I'd be driving to wherever they are and just trying them out....within a price limit of course. I settled on a 13 note 12 inch Happybuy but each his own. Someone did a demo that said the smaller ones are more limited. Have a fun journey finding the one for you.
+soslothful Not really, do you know how much effort goes into making these? Many builders have like 50 scrapped ones (even those have 200$ material cost alone) lying around cause a mistake means starting over again. Some makers sell their stainless steel prototypes for ~250-350$ though. They're not scraps so they still sound amazing, if you're looking to buy cheap steel drums I recommend "the handpan community" on Facebook.
Thanks, that's a great video and simple to understand for someone like me who has just discovered these things today. It seems I would need to have a grasp of musical theory to begin learning not only how to play this but the theories / principals behind it. Any good links to help me understand or just enjoy....?
I did play them in high school... Music is magic, I miss playing. I started the drums in like, 3rd grade or something. It was like meant for me or something, percussion. In fact, it's picture perfect. I don't mean to sound superbly politically incorrect or anything, but I'm almost jewish for that memory!
Hallo Lucius, Nice that you share these all. I like very much the sound of the white Kaizen. Can you give me the name of this special type of the Kaizen. Than I can go and look for it. all the best,

When you try to copy the hang drum without patent violation and end up making an even better sounding instrument
😂😂 a happy mistake
Cinder Woods or as the late, great Bob Ross would say, a happy accident...

"better sounding" is(!) and has always been a matter of taste.
In order to play any type of Hang drum, you need to grow Dreadlocks first.

The dreads give you power.
