Great tips. I use a 10' section of 3" thin wall PVC and slide it over my leaf blower....put a 90 degree elbow on the end and it blows the debris out of my gutters in no time!

When planting, bury a vertical pvc next to plant that will assist in watering roots for years. Also, bury pvc horizontally along a hedge line or row of plants with partial depth slots that will allow water leakage where desired. At one end extend pvc up to point near where you want to insert a hose or connect the whole system to a timer.

I am a small engine mechanic and must remove mower blades constantly. Many blades on commercial zero turns are stuck on with dirt & corrosion. Take an 18" x 3" piece of PVC pipe and stick a 2"x3" piece of wood inside. Heat with a heat gun until pliable. Now place in a vise and flatten the top and bottom of the pipe. You only want to square the pipe enough that it will stay on the mower blade. Now you can slide the pipe over the mower blade,rotate blade to contact the side of the mower deck and slide outward until it wedges the blade against the deck. Now you can unbolt the blade with your new blade stop.
I made 8- 4' rectangle sections of PVC Pipes and covered them with Chicken wire, as an outside Octagon play area for my small dogs to stay in while visiting my friends. Each rectangle was wide enough to also go across the steps of my friends porch, so they could stay on the porch on rainy days. My tallest dog was 13" tall and the rectangle came up to just above my knees, this way I could step over it as well...I used zip ties to tie the pieces together in a zigzag fashion and used an old hook tied to a Paracord to close it once it was set up. I kept it in my pick up truck for any visit any place I needed a temporary play area. I had three little dogs weighing up to 18 pounds. It worked fantastic. It was like a doggy baby gate. Here is what I used for each section: 4 -90° corners 2 -T fittings. The piece was like 2square sections in one frame. It was done so to stable the middle of the 4' section. So it wouldn't collapse.
This is a great video! Unlike a lot of the other TH-cam videos that "promise" life hacks that will work this one actually delivers real help. The cord wrap is also terrific for Christmas lights so you can stay organized for years to come! Thank you for making our lives easier and more safe.
FYI, on removing the lug bolts on any veh tire there is a reason the lug tool is so short. You place it on the lug bolt at an angle to where you can stand on it and make one little bounce breaks the bite on the bolt. Uses your body weight to break the tight bolt, works every time. PVC not the best idea on the tire changing. But I will say there are many great uses for PVC.
I actually stopped the video and went and made the chum holder. Brilliant idea. It looks awesome and I can't wait to try it. Now, back to the rest of the video.
Great ideas. Thanks for posting. Here is an idea. I needed a light box for a photography project. So I got a bunch of 1/2" pvc, some elbows and connectors and made a cube. Then I dusted off my sewing skills and made curtains with sleeves so I could slip them onto the pvc pipe, reconnect to the elbows and cover three sides and the top. I used white knit fabric so it would stretch and be tight. I use a variety of platforms covered in left over white fabric, set up two fixed lights on either side and a flash overhead to eliminate most of the shadows. When I am done with that project I just separate the pvc in long pieces and store in a bag.
I just saw your Live hacks on TH-cam & I just wanted to share my PVC hack w/ you. About 10 years ago I became disabled and I cannot walk due to the pain in my back. Now this requires me to find other ways to do things that I had never considered before. I had broke down on the side of the rode due to an electrical short in my truck. Now because of this I wasn;t able to use my hazzard lights and I was worried that I'd get hit by a passing vehicle because of how dark it was and where i had broke down, not to mention that it was almost 11:30 at night. So I looked in my truck and I fouind my loyal roll of Duck Tape and three thee foot long PVC pipes which I carry along with a few other things that most people would think that I was crazy until things such as this happen. Anyhow I found a road flare and I had managed to place it on the side of the road w/out hurting myself, but I knew that my road side assistance were still over an hour away and the road flare only lasted for twenty min. So I found a few of the blinking red strobes that attaches to the bottom of the bike seat, so I attached them to the top of the PVC pipes and then I used a set of wooden chop sticks and I taped them to the other end so that I could stake them into the ground. So having two of these kept me from being hit by a very large truck which was being driven by a very tired driver. I know this becase when he saw me in my wheel chair placing the second strobe he pulled over to see if he could help. The man driving the truck (George) stayed with me until my tow truck arrived, which was almost 90 min later. During our conversation he said that using PVC, chop sticks & bike strobes was brilliant and that he would have never had thought of that. Anyhow I figured that four items kept me from being hospitalized and in total I had gotten the PVC for free from a friend. The chop sticks were from a meals that I have eaten, but I use my own chop sticks at home because of something that happened and the strobes were $15.00 for both sets and $7.50 for the duct tape. So for less than $25.00 and a little imagination I saved myself from a posible huge car accident.
I followed an idea off pinterest, and that was using a 3" wide pvc pipe to hold my arrows for archery. Quite effective. Then i had a paracord for a sling. Good video and great ideas.

Those were great. I will use a few of those around the house. I am currently building a garden tower out of PVC. It will be a little more advanced than these quick tips that you gave here. When I get done maybe I can send you a few pics.
I don't know how strong that PVC would be as a breaker bar, id rather have a metal pipe. I can see on overtorqued lug nut and using the PVC and having it break from the tension. You can also angle the standard wrench so you can step on it to loosen em.. That's what I've had to do in the past.

The PVC actually has a bit of give, and you can use that to build up torque. I also found the (Black Gas Pipe) conduit won't work on an 4 headed 'X' type wrench.
Your vacuum, extension works fine, use 1" thin wall pvc same way as an extension with heat gun reduce one end to shrink one end and also to enlarge the other end for a factory extension, same works for 2" pvc enlarge one end shrink the other, just like the factory pieces, regards
I made a simple a-frame from 1/2" pvc and sized it to fit the bed of my truck. I then layed a tarp over that and tied it down with bungee cords to make a tent out of my truck bed.

I've used pvc pipe as a breaker bar on oil changes tons of times. One thing we do when we go hiking is take "pill box" style containers (pvc of coarse) basically a tube with the end caps and fill em with trail mix, jerky, candy and anything else you don't want wet, matches, paper pencils and pens you name it! great videos, keep up the good work!
Just an idea you might like. When drilling holes in pvc pipe. Get a wall bracket that clips onto the pipe. The one that has one through hole. Clip it on the pipe. Then use the hole where the screw goes through as a guide for the drill. You can move the clip up and down or around the pipe, you have a guide for all your holes. Great videos. +themanwoaname It is surprising how much torque you CAN put on a pvc pipe. Mine's about a 2 in thick wall. You can always tell if you're overdoing it. I've surprised many a guy that knows you should never do this. Give it a try. The plastic is light and never freezing cold like steel can be.
+Finnigan9 If I was gonna chance it, I'd use schedule 80 and then another larger schedule 80 over the first one. And make sure they aren't cold/brittle when used.
lug extension DOES NOT WORK, dad had my breaker bar one time and thought to use some pvc and it snapped and gouged my arm. DO NOT DO THAT. instead use a mallet or dead blow and put force on the lug wrench and give good firm blows and they will let go.
I keep my tools in my garden shed organized by using an empty 5 gallon bucket then i cut 8 or 9 pieces of 2" diameter pvc pipe about a 17" long, put them all in the bucket.... then I can put my shovel and broom and rake handles down in the pipes. Robert Oakes
FIll a 5 gallon bucket with lengths of PVC pipe standing up inside almost to the top. I then store my 3' to 6' lengths of small steel rod, small pipe, small angle, etc. The PVC holds these straight up enough that the center of gravity does not tip the bucket over.
+Specific Love Creations 1.5" to 2" is what I used. I also put four legs from a plastic shelf unit in since they were not used in the shelf and it would help fill in the bucket space. You want them packed in with very little movement.
There are "forever" ways to use pvc. One I figured out about 10 years about works. When you get your Christmas light strings for outdoors, it can cause many words we don't normally use (especially at Christmas). Tangled lights, just try find cords, and then there are the hangers from last time. Think about this one. Most light strings have plugs on one end and recep. on the other. To make long (fairly) runs, buy 10' lengths 3/4" and a bag of (blk) cable ties. Figure out how long the run will be and tie each light run (hmm 10') to each pipe. Many pipes have couplers on one end, if not the store has them to "plug" the pipes together as you plug the light groups together. Over size cup hooks or "L" screws will work great as hangers for each section of the pipe/light combo. Mine is about a 65 run so I just cut off 5' of one end. Make sure the "plug" end is close to power source or good place for extension cord. Here is the even better use. When all the fun is over and guess who has to take down and stow the lights, just unplug power and disconnect each section pipe and light string. Find a great place in the garage or ??? to mount wall hooks (bike hooks?) that will hold the 10' lengths for next year. No tangles, no boxes, no worry or dread for next time. (thanks). 8^)
Just a few pointers. For your hide a key, glue a rock to the top of the part that unscrews. Now you can bury it anywhere there's rocks in your yard. For your tire iron helper bar, regardless of if you use PVC or metal for your helper NEVER use the extension to put the nuts back on. You will easily over tighten them. Then you will really Ned help getting them off. For the craft holder. Use some sand or shot in the base to weigh it down so it doesn't scoot when you use it. Some rubber feet will help too.
Nice ideas, will be very helpful. I do have a suggestion. The hack for the car tire. If using PVC or anything else for that matter. Put stripes of 3M yellow reflecting tape on PVC, etc. The reflecting tape is easier seen by passing cars on side of road at night. No lengthly story about how that saved my life one dark and rainy night. I also made 2 PVC tripods out of PVC with the reflecting tape. The tripods are 18 inched tall and take up little room in trunk. Great job, keep creating
Have you tried it taking a lug nut off with a PVC extension pipe to give your advice? Yes a metal bar may be best, and it get dirty and rusty too. Try the PVC and GEt back to us about it. Maybe make a video showing the shattering as mention above. :)
I couldn't agree more. PVC ain't cheap! And when u glue it up, u always stain it, this it would be less than pretty. Does this manufacture PVC or what?!
Corry Kerr They make transparent glues and primers and shop rags for any run down onto the exposed pipe. My company is very particular on keeping our manifolds and any other exposed pvc cosmetically pristine. And yes PVC is pricey.... unless you work with it and collect the discarded scrap (sometimes full pieces with just the bell cut off lol).
Thanks for the ideas. :) I use a longer version of your key holder to hold long drill bits and wire fishing sticks. Its much better than having them loose in the bottom of the truck tool box.
As a friendly note with the key hiding thing: the two pieces on the end are not a "plug cap" but a female adapter and a threaded plug. Female adapters are socket (also called solvent weld) on one end and have a female thread on the other. The other piece is just a threaded plug. An easy way to remember plugs versus caps is that plugs are inserted into fittings, and caps go over the outside of pipe. Keep on with the great ideas!
I use PVC in my workshop for several things. The one I use most is a dowel rod holder. I cut a 3' section of 4" PVC pipe and hang it on my wall, and put different size dowel rods in it, I have a couple shorter ones for the cut off pieces. Works for me.They also help in making Child safe toys, as plastic breaks.Ed

P.S.A its REALLY stupid to over tighten lug nuts its not a more is better situation, over tightening is how studs break and wheels fall off

A piece of black iron pipe would be much stronger. Just paint it to avoid rust.

Those were great. I will use a few of those around the house. I am currently building a garden tower out of PVC. It will be a little more advanced than these quick tips that you gave here. When I get done maybe I can send you a few pics.

I don't know how strong that PVC would be as a breaker bar, id rather have a metal pipe. I can see on overtorqued lug nut and using the PVC and having it break from the tension. You can also angle the standard wrench so you can step on it to loosen em.. That's what I've had to do in the past.

I think I'm going to stick with my 2' 1/4 inch steel conduit as a leverage bar instead of the PVC.
The PVC actually has a bit of give, and you can use that to build up torque. I also found the (Black Gas Pipe) conduit won't work on an 4 headed 'X' type wrench.

Your vacuum, extension works fine, use 1" thin wall pvc same way as an extension with heat gun reduce one end to shrink one end and also to enlarge the other end for a factory extension, same works for 2" pvc enlarge one end shrink the other, just like the factory pieces, regards

I made a simple a-frame from 1/2" pvc and sized it to fit the bed of my truck. I then layed a tarp over that and tied it down with bungee cords to make a tent out of my truck bed.

I've used pvc pipe as a breaker bar on oil changes tons of times. One thing we do when we go hiking is take "pill box" style containers (pvc of coarse) basically a tube with the end caps and fill em with trail mix, jerky, candy and anything else you don't want wet, matches, paper pencils and pens you name it! great videos, keep up the good work!

Just an idea you might like. When drilling holes in pvc pipe. Get a wall bracket that clips onto the pipe. The one that has one through hole. Clip it on the pipe. Then use the hole where the screw goes through as a guide for the drill. You can move the clip up and down or around the pipe, you have a guide for all your holes. Great videos. Keep up the great videos.
i would not use a pvc pipe as leverage to break a lugnut grip on a wheel. that's not a safe idea.

+J DeWitt DIY metal pipe? totally. pvc? having stood on tire irons to break the hold of the lug nuts; i know a pvc pipe will shatter. not smart.
+themanwoaname It is surprising how much torque you CAN put on a pvc pipe. Mine's about a 2 in thick wall. You can always tell if you're overdoing it. I've surprised many a guy that knows you should never do this. Give it a try. The plastic is light and never freezing cold like steel can be.

If I was gonna chance it, I'd use schedule 80 and then another larger schedule 80 over the first one. And make sure they aren't cold/brittle when used.

lug extension DOES NOT WORK, dad had my breaker bar one time and thought to use some pvc and it snapped and gouged my arm. DO NOT DO THAT. instead use a mallet or dead blow and put force on the lug wrench and give good firm blows and they will let go.
Or a steel pipe.

I keep my tools in my garden shed organized by using an empty 5 gallon bucket then i cut 8 or 9 pieces of 2" diameter pvc pipe about a 17" long, put them all in the bucket.... then I can put my shovel and broom and rake handles down in the pipes. Robert Oakes
FIll a 5 gallon bucket with lengths of PVC pipe standing up inside almost to the top. I then store my 3' to 6' lengths of small steel rod, small pipe, small angle, etc. The PVC holds these straight up enough that the center of gravity does not tip the bucket over.

+Specific Love Creations 1.5" to 2" is what I used. I also put four legs from a plastic shelf unit in since they were not used in the shelf and it would help fill in the bucket space. You want them packed in with very little movement.

Paint some bright reflective Orage and make them into a tripod for a road warning sign like for when ya need to change a tire on thw road!
There are "forever" ways to use pvc. One I figured out about 10 years about works. When you get your Christmas light strings for outdoors, it can cause many words we don't normally use (especially at Christmas). Tangled lights, just try find cords, and then there are the hangers from last time. Think about this one. Most light strings have plugs on one end and recep. on the other. To make long (fairly) runs, buy 10' lengths 3/4" and a bag of (blk) cable ties. Figure out how long the run will be and tie each light run (hmm 10') to each pipe. Many pipes have couplers on one end, if not the store has them to "plug" the pipes together as you plug the light groups together. Over size cup hooks or "L" screws will work great as hangers for each section of the pipe/light combo. Mine is about a 65 run so I just cut off 5' of one end. Make sure the "plug" end is close to power source or good place for extension cord. Here is the even better use. When all the fun is over and guess who has to take down and stow the lights, just unplug power and disconnect each section pipe and light string. Find a great place in the garage or ??? to mount wall hooks (bike hooks?) that will hold the 10' lengths for next year. No tangles, no boxes, no worry or dread for next time. (thanks). 8^)

Just a few pointers.
For your hide a key, glue a rock to the top of the part that unscrews. Now you can bury it anywhere there's rocks in your yard.
For your tire iron helper bar, regardless of if you use PVC or metal for your helper NEVER use the extension to put the nuts back on. You will easily over tighten them. Then you will really Ned help getting them off.
For the craft holder. Use some sand or shot in the base to weigh it down so it doesn't scoot when you use it. Some rubber feet will help too.

Nice ideas, will be very helpful. I do have a suggestion. The hack for the car tire. If using PVC or anything else for that matter. Put stripes of 3M yellow reflecting tape on PVC, etc. The reflecting tape is easier seen by passing cars on side of road at night. No lengthly story about how that saved my life one dark and rainy night. I also made 2 PVC tripods out of PVC with the reflecting tape. The tripods are 18 inched tall and take up little room in trunk.

PVC as a cheater bar might not do the job. I think it would easily shatter / break. I do however like the bait thing.
A better idea would be replaced the stock lug wrench with the t type & carry a rubber mallet for some gentle persuasion.

Yeah that thing will easily snap and PVC splinters are na sty. Always use metal for a makeshift breaker bar.
Have you tried it taking a lug nut off with a PVC extension pipe to give your advice? Yes a metal bar may be best, and it get dirty and rusty too. Try the PVC and GEt back to us about it. Maybe make a video showing the shattering as mention above. :)

Corry Kerr They make transparent glues and primers and shop rags for any run down onto the exposed pipe. My company is very particular on keeping our manifolds and any other exposed pvc cosmetically pristine. And yes PVC is pricey.... unless you work with it and collect the discarded scrap (sometimes full pieces with just the bell cut off lol).

A galvanized pipe would be better. They are not that expensive at your local Hardware store.

Thanks for the ideas. :) I use a longer version of your key holder to hold long drill bits and wire fishing sticks. Its much better than having them loose in the bottom of the truck tool box.

As a friendly note with the key hiding thing: the two pieces on the end are not a "plug cap" but a female adapter and a threaded plug. Female adapters are socket (also called solvent weld) on one end and have a female thread on the other. The other piece is just a threaded plug. An easy way to remember plugs versus caps is that plugs are inserted into fittings, and caps go over the outside of pipe. Keep on with the great ideas!

I use PVC in my workshop for several things. The one I use most is a dowel rod holder. I cut a 3' section of 4" PVC pipe and hang it on my wall, and put different size dowel rods in it, I have a couple shorter ones for the cut off pieces. Works for me.They also help in making Child safe toys, as plastic breaks.Ed

P.S.A its REALLY stupid to over tighten lug nuts its not a more is better situation, over tightening is how studs break and wheels fall off
