    I really like your videos. This is a really honest, and realistic perspective on the Zero electric motorbike. And I happen to agree with you on so many points, where the electric blows away a combustion engine based bike. The biggest issue I have with my 250 cc bike is the noise, and not even a $1000 helmet and noise cancelling ear-buds is going to help get that down to the level on an electric bike. For me, that, and the minimal maintenance(belt drive, yes!) are worth the premium cost, long term. Keep on posting.

      Exactly, sounds is huge for me, if you’re planning to keep something why not spend a little extra. Yes I plan to keep making videos about this zero. thank you for taking the time out your day to watch my videos!

    As a newbie rider, I totally agree with you and also looked at some of the Honda’s with DCT but they were too big for me as.a short girl and a beginner.
    The custom ride set up was a lifesaver for me! I learned on an old Zero XU and used the app to make my 2021 Zero S perform like the XU and slowly been playing with the settings! So the bike can grow with you.
    But beware of hitting the throttle accidentally! I did that a few times and slammed my bike into the ground😮

    We were on the same wavelength the week you posted this, because I uploaded a similar video and I agree with all the reasons you said the Zero makes a great beginner bike, including the low maintenance. And as Crissa mentioned, the Zero does not care if you drop it. I've literally grinded my zero into the pavement when I dropped it and it came up fine.

    I think I was in a very similar position as you were. However, I did take the motorcycle safety class an did learn how to ride on a traditional gas bike and took my road test on a Honda Rebel 300. With that said I am absolutely going the electric for all of the reasons you listed.

    Thanks for the video this is something I did not know was even a thing until recently. I always wanted to get a bike but the extra work and maintenance was a big thing I didn't want to do. Taking care of my pick up is enough. The idea that it's electric and i could commute to work and stuff with it on non rainy days is awesome with today's fuel prices.

    Zeros are wonderful bikes: quiet, powerful, easy to ride, and I really loved my DSR. I also loved my first bike, coincidentally an NC 750x with DCT. So the first 4 years of my biking career was fully automatic. Just a month ago I bought my first manual bike, and all I can say is I wish I‘d done it sooner. Riding automatics only is great fun but very restrictive in terms of what bikes you can use. And if you like to tour, you will find that Zeros are not yet there in terms of range and charging times. By all means learn how to handle a bike by learning on a Zero, but don‘t forget to learn to use a clutch along the way. I will go back to electric at some point but, for now, I‘m having a blast on a manual bike.

    • @RomanDeHonney
      @RomanDeHonney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes indeed I may look at a manual eventually but it’s good to find your balance and get comfortable as far as safety with zeros.

    My driving lessons were on a KTM Duke 125ccm. So I had some concerns that a Zero S or DS would overpower me (absolute beginner), because they are so much more powerful: 60 hp peak power and 109 Nm torque.
    I was surprised that my concerns were absolutely unfounded: At every moment I found the Zero S was well-behaved and a lot easier to handle actually - because there is no clutch, yes, but also the power delivery is sooo well defined and controllable.
    Btw, and maybe this is a European point only: The Zero S and DS classify as A1 bikes, despite their peak power and torque.

    Super helpful video, thanks. Sounds like you're used to riding bicycles - how did you find the transition to foot braking? Debating between this and a scooter, which would keep the hand braking I'm used to as a cyclist.

    • @RomanDeHonney
      @RomanDeHonney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad I could help a little, so there’s still a hand brake on the right side, it accounts for about 70% of the stopping power. It can be use by its self for most stops. The rear brake on the right foot is about 30%. I tend to use both on stops depending on how fast I need to stop.

    Ride expecting drivers are trying to ambush you.
    Slow down for intersections when there's a vehicle in the opposite direction fixin' to turn left and speed up when you reach the intersection and they have not begun to turn.
    Drive extra carefully near elderly living facilities. Those places are magnets for vision-impaired drivers.
    Beware of grass clippings and leaves; particularly on curves.

    Buy a brand new Honda Forza 125 and the cost difference between that and a zero with fast charge option ( which should be standard at this price) will pay for 150,000 miles of fuel. Think about that b4 being a mug and looking "cool" This bike with fast charge needs to be around 8-9k max.

      @@jeffreyelliott622 We do seem to be between dreadfully overpriced or cheap n' nasty with electric bikes at the moment. Some middle ground needs covering. With that in mind I went to see the new Seat Mo/ Silence S01 a couple of days ago. I was quite impressed in the chunky build quality and clever design However the big hurdle then was insurance. As a new driver to e-motorbikes the Seat Mo come in at £475 GBP with a mandatory excess of £1200 which is crazy at 53 years old with a clean driving license, I would dread to think what a Zero at three times the price would be on insurance. Suffice to say currently it's cheaper for me to drive a gas guzzling polluting sports car.
