    I am a micro locs loctician in Orlando Florida, and so far your I like your method of micro locs Extensions the best. Because you are doing the feedin method which alleviates a lot of the tension from the root of the client's hair ❤❤

      @@tabbylivvy can I add a photo? I would love to show them. I think they turned out great; however, I will suggest being aware of what type of hair you will use. I didn’t use the type of hair she did but I used the bulk human hair that you actually do locs with and while it turned out cute and as I wanted them. It’s now a year later and as my hair has grown and been washed over and over, some of the hair has slipped out but it’s okay because I plan to remove the hair as my hair grows out.

    Hi!!! First I love your page! I have a question. So I recently did my own microlocs extensions almost a month ago and my extensions are starting to look a little weird. The start of where I inserted extensions lookings bulky compared to my roots,if that makes sense. Is there a way to fix it without taking it out and redoing it?

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hi! Thank you so much! ♥️♥️I truly appreciate your kind words!
      Yes that makes sense, so that means the hair added was probably a bit to much.. I think to be safe you might want to do it over because you don’t want to cause more weight on your scalp then you have to. That way you can prevent any thinning long-term.

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for watching! That may mean you need to add a little more hair when you get to that point. You want to make sure the twist is gradually getting smaller, especially after passing you natural hair.

  • @LADYKTAY

    These are beautiful. I've been braiding my hair for years, had sister locs for about 5 years and cut them (had a moment), the cost and maintenance was a bit much. So, now I want to go a little more traditional. This seems like a very good alternative. It looks like your starting off w/a small braid than going into the twist as you add in the hair, am I seeing that right? Follow up, do you twist or interlock after the initial install?

    Hi ave a question do I have to braid before I start twisting I am not adding anything

  • @soapdessy8818
    @soapdessy8818 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    When extensions are added to the locs in the beginning, does it cause the locs to be thin at the root and thicker down the length as they grow out? I know I will have shrinkage so I’m wondering if I should add extensions or be patient and let them grow naturally

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So the trick is to make sure you're adding the right amount so that the loc gradually gets thicker just like it would without extension. If you add too much hair to a section that is to weak to handle it, that can cause thinning.

  • @petitelocsstudio2932
    @petitelocsstudio2932 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I do have a question? Whare are the pros and the cons on having microlocs extentions? My hair is very thin i tried to do them with just my regular hair it was hard. I was told it's easire to add extention to them for a fuller look? what is your feeling on that?

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Okay, So I would say the pros are you get immediate fullness and some length. They also give you more options for styling. Cons.. I would say in the beginning some will portal slip out around the perimeter. Other than that I don't think there are any more cons. I think extensions would work great you just need to go to someone knowledgeable so that they aren't adding to much hair which can be stressful to your scalp in the long run.

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I normally twist it in if I need to add extra length towards the bottom, but I really try to add enough length from the top so that I don’t have to do that at the bottom. This way, I am lessening the chances of slippage.

    Hi if the braids were started with a regular braid at the beginning , not a knotless braid and without interlocking during installation, how would you recommend taking care of them and avoiding bulking as they mature or slipping? Thank you! Sorry that was a lot😢❤

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You would probably have to use really small portions of hair to be sure that the bulking doesn't happen. I wouldn't recommend that method because it will be harder to avoid the bulkiness. Can you share some more of your thoughts on the knotless method? Maybe why that method may not be your first choice?

    Hello I want to loc my hair, I was wondering is the a difference in the outcome if you twist or braid

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Twist are going to be more fluffy and not so uniformed. Braids will be very uniform. Similar to sister locs

    I’m just starting out. I have a client with really oily hair coming for an install do you recommend the two strand method or braid all the way through

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool! So I think twist will be just fine. Maybe braiding the root down some then twisting will help with slippage.

    Thank you so much for your information I'm in South Africa I haven't seen much of micro locs but I want to ask my hairstylist to do them for me.
    I have a question when installing the extensions what happens do you take them out then what happens to your locs cos I want this hairstyle permanent.
    Thank you ❤

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thank you so much for your comment! So the hair is intended to loc with your hair permanently. So you would not remove the hair at a later date. The key would be to add the correct amount so that the loc gradually widens as you get down to the end. Does that make sense?

    • @yvonnedubu6980
      @yvonnedubu6980 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ShardelHaden Thank you so much it makes perfect sense. My worry is one now the type of extension you use I wonder if I'll get anything closer here cos my hair texture is not thick and fuller. I'll keep checking your tutorials for more information. Once again thank you for your response 😘😘💞💞

    I'm considering starting microlocs with two strand twists. Can you leave the human afro kinky hair in as your hair grows?

    • @ShardelHaden

      Yes it locs with the hair

    Great work sis! I have 2 questions, could the length have been shorter with the extensions? And secondly, will she be able to take out the extensions in the long run? 🙏🏽

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thank you so much! Yes the length can be shorter. These extensions are intended to loc with her hair… however as the grow she can trim or cut the ends as she sees fit

    • @CherylBarnett-hd8jh
      @CherylBarnett-hd8jh ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I love your work & have been considering microlocs. I read one loctician saying the extensions eventually come out as the hair grows which sounds weird but you say the human hair extensions starts to loc with your natural hair, that makes more sense.

    I’m thinking of trying this. Do you do anything to prep the extensions before using?

    • @ShardelHaden

      Rinse them with hot water. There are some videos of me doing it

  • @teachingwithzay7172
    @teachingwithzay7172 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How many pieces do you use for each one? Also how do you get them all the same length?

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Normally two pieces. Since I’m using all the same length of extension I know the length will end up on a similar area. It’s really more practice with grabbing the hair in the same area so that the length makes sense

    Sorry if my question is stupid but I thought that locsis only wish your own hair. So is she keep for evr that way? How is the maintenance. Thx

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No question is stupid! ☺️ the extension hair will loc into her hair. My method of installation does not allow for the extension to be taken out. Maintenance is the same just as if there no extensions, interlocking every 4 to 8 weeks 🥰

  • @tallie338
    @tallie338 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would like to get the extension for length. But I am concerned after the new growth comes, it will be a different size than the part with added hair? What do you think about my concerns?

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว

      So naturally, when you have locs it's smaller at the root then it gradually gets thicker. this will be the case for a set of extensions like this. You just want to be careful with the amount of hair you add to each loc. but as your hair locs it will thicken with the extension hair. I hope that makes sense... :)

    Good day, is there anyway to have less hair added. Especially for people with thin hair wanting micros from you. How you do it is great, but on thin hair it seems it would be so full and heavy. I'd like this done but my hair is no way full like that on a regular basis. I can't handle the weight of the fullness.

    • @ShardelHaden
      @ShardelHaden  ปีที่แล้ว +1
