- In today’s video, I’m showing you guys how I install my daughters microlocs ! This is her second set of microlocs, the first set was taken out because I didn’t know much about interlocking at the time and wanted to retwist, but it didn’t come out how I planned.
But I’ve done my research for months & we will be interlocking using the 2 point rotation method. I will make sure to film the first retie for you guys 🫶🏽
She has always loved microlocs better, it gives her a fuller look and wayy more confidence.
Anywayssss…. The method I used to start is both BRAID & TWO STRAND TWIST. I’ve always done this method, even with traditional locs & it just works so much better for us ESPECIALLY little kids. My girls have a lot of little hairs that will never stay in place so that’s why I braid the roots.
This whole process took about 8 active hours.

I am officially about to loc my daughters hair . She hates getting her hair done and I’m sick of the crying and yelling and the hassle 😂 PLUS she literally locs her own hair ! She will twist it until it locs by itself and then I try to get it out and hair falls out so this is the best for her

Also I want to say to the ppl, mothers, kids anyone ! Don’t let the “permanent” word scare you into not getting locs! If you ever change your mind you don’t have to cut your hair, they can be COMBED OUT ! nothing about locs is permanent if you have the patience & motivation to comb them out 😉 I’ve done this 7 times already with all 3 of us….

I have microlocs. Ive had them for 3 yrs now. I wish I had started using this method. I did mine myself with interlocking...this looks sooooo much easier. I love it!

I don’t think it’s difficult at all, but does take ALOT of patience to comb out. But with water and conditioner it makes it so much smoother to take out ✨

Do the twists not unravel a bit when wash day comes?
I’m always a bit confused when I watch these videos because the hair isn’t locked with like one of those needles.
I think it depends on hair type and texture. Her first set didn’t unravel at all for wash days, and I believe it’s because of the braided roots & how small the twist are. But this set I will be waiting until after her first or second retie for extra security

So how do you make sure the ends don’t unravel
You can braid the ends so that they don’t unravel.
Makes me wanna loc my daughter's hair. I definitely notice smaller braids or twist gives her more volume and looks fuller as well. She current has mini braids in ... hmmm....
Yessss the fuller looks are everything ! I say if you are happy with her parts go for it ! & also find out how your gonna maintain them because that’s soo important to. You can go to someone to maintain them for you or do it yourself. I will maintain with a 2 point rotation, it’s fairly easy.

Yesss you can, just don’t interlock them and try not to keep them over 3-4 months because they will start locking. You can install and keep them for 3 months at a time if you like 💕

My hair is like this now except the shrinkage is soooooo real!
Awwww beautiful 💗 & don’t worry you’re not alone. She has a lot of shrinkage as well once her hair dries from being moisturized.
What do u do if ur child has crazy shrinkage? How do u maintain the hairs length without the shrinkage?
The hair is going to shrink regardless. That’s the beauty of our hair BUT to minimize shrinkage you can braid the hair every night before bed and moisturize with coconut oil or whatever oil you chose. The other option is, when installing microlocs you can start with braids instead of two strand twist.

If you don’t mind me asking What made you choose micro locs for her and traditional locs for your other kid ? Did they choose the size they want themselves?
They chose the Loc size themselves. They have both had a set of micro and traditional locs before so they already knew what it would look like on them. This is both of their 6 Loc Journey and they chose differently this time which I loveee 🥰

I let a girl In Hayward CA, name Kristin do my Sisterlock install- 🤦🏽♀️ she was awful to say the least and very unprofessional.
I went to her for a couple of more months, but my gut told me to stop going to her.
She did not know what she was doing. She did not do the Sisterlocs grid- she messed up my hair- and had the nerve to get upset because I stopped tipping her. In the meantime I was looking for a new sister Loctician ….and I actually reported her to Sisterlock foundation . I have a new lady now , in San Leandro California. She is amazing ! Some of these folks out here do not want to take care of your hair. They only want the money. And her attitude was definitely from the devil..
If you feel it in your gut, please do your research. Do not go to the first person you see! This is my second set of Sisterlocks. Soon I will be doing a channel myself regarding my Sisterlock journey. 😉 be safe out here folks when it comes to your hair!

No this is all of her hair. I believe doing them smaller and doing 2 strand twist created the volume.

How did you prepare the hair before installing the locs?
I washed and blow dried her hair so it’s less tension when parting. I prepared each section before starting. Here is a video on how I did that

Why so small is she ever going g to remove them when all knotted she is a kid
Why would they get knotted up if they are getting taken care off. Lol she has had microlocs before and they can definitely be combed out. She is a kid (a very intelligent one) and was very aware of the decision she made to get Microlocs

How do you stop the twist from unraveling when it’s wash time? I want to start my lov journey but I have so many questions and is this permanent?
Tbh it sometimes depends on hair texture. I had to undo her twist and change them to braids & that stopped the unraveling. & it’s just like traditional locs, they can be permanent if you want them to be, but you also can comb them out if you like. It just takes time and patience.

Lol you can start locs with different methods; Braids, two strand twist, coils, or interlocks. This is how I chose to start her locs. ! ✨

In my opinion yes ! The locs help hold the moisture alot more.
Do you just leave the ends out to keep them curly?
Basically yes. I didn’t twist fullly to the bottom and it stayed curly for the most part. On wash days I added conditioner to the ends to keep the curls

As long as you want. I’m keeping these in until she doesn’t want them anymore. Every 4-6 weeks I touch up her roots with the interlocking method
