We have used the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

That current monitor looks handy. Just to be clear the gp3300i is 120 volt. Thats one leg or phase. The monitor is made with two hot legs output. The one leg from the generator is divided into two legs because the motor home has two hot legs. In this case the two legs are from the same one leg in the generator just heading in two parallel paths. Conclusion, add up the current on leg one and leg two to get the total current output that the generator is putting out on its one leg.
I've had mine for over a year and there was nothing worth a damn on it before your video. I went with my gut. Ive had no problems at all. I was in Death Valley last April and it was 85 degrees and the RV warmed . We were boon docking and my AC ran just fine in the afternoon. Now it wasn't over 100 but it ran it just fine.

great video! i’m considering this generator for my new RV as it should be able to run the A/C which is nice to know. i do want to explain some things with regard to your surge protector. since the system isn’t grounded while running on generator and is considered floating, the surge protector isn’t going to provide any protection as it needs a path to earth ground to discharge the energy of a surge. this is not an issue however because there wouldn’t be any voltage surges to be concerned about since you are not connected to the utility. you are tricking the surge protector into thinking you have a grounded system with the grounding plug but it’s really not protecting anything. you may have known that but just wanted to clarify that the surge protector isn’t necessary while running on generator but you do have the metering function which is nice.
Earth Grounding the generator with the RV and Transfer Switch are not recommended. Bonding the generator is recommended for Rv’s and Transfer switch only with no earth ground. I have both the gp3000i and gp3300i. The gp3000i runs my marine 16.5 ac with soft start plus battery chargers, tv, box fan and dvd player. The 3300i makes less power and you have to shut everything but the ac off or it will trip the breaker in the boat on nearly every compressor cycle. Plan on a 5 hr run time. I have a silly question, why do folks use a surge protector when running an RV from a generator yet you never see anyone using a similar surge protector when running the whole house from a portable generator? Both are plugging into the same 30-amp receptacle.
That’s not a silly question that’s a good question. You know how people say a generator surging that means the voltage is fluctuating from 80 to 130 that could cost so much catastrophic damage to all the appliances inside your home and Rv a good surge protector would shut off if your generator start surging or run out of gas and drop that voltage low enough to damage stuff. Thanks, I jus t ordered this generator. If and when it needs some work, where would you recommend to take it? I know the Honda and Yamaha are more common and more dealers, where do I take the Generac?
I forgot to add, I have E Pro 20 FBS. The only thing I intend to use the generator for is to run the air conditioner (13,500 BTU), the microwave, and possibly a hair dryer for the wife. IS there a way to use the generator to charge the batteries if the weather is not favorable for the 200W solar panels?
You can use this to power your home but only the 120V appliances. Like the refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven and fans. I recommend you installing a transfer switch. A 10 circuit and pick 10 essential loads you can use a generator like that.
I recommend an Interlock kit in your panel, and then connect a 30-amp twist-lock plug to your panel outside. Cheap, passes code, all circuits available, nothing redundant.
Installing a soft start kit on your 15k air conditioner would help you when running it on generator power. I think this one will definitely be okay with a 15k

Generators come with a floating neutral meaning that the ground and neutral is not bonded. So a bonding plug 🔌 is needed for the surge protector to work with most generators
Hey Dan It’s nice having one when the generator puts out low or high voltage your appliances are protected from any damages. I’ve tested several inverters and seen voltage drop in the 90v range and without the surge protector I would have never noticed
Generators are funny in that they sit a long time with old gas in them and i once cleaned the carb main jet area, and emptied the bowl but came back 2 years later and it wouldnt start and that area was clogged again?? Quick clean and first pull it started!! So i surmise that the old sticky fuel got in there over time even though tap was off and gummed it up for first start. SO.. i have flushed all fuel out and changed the oil and left it totally fluid dry and will know if the gremlins are back when i need it again on next Aust blackout thanks to silly green energy trying to make up base line requirements and generators here will be needed more often till we can get nuclear or put back coal and gas as thats all you have on this planet currently till fusion can be made work... REALITY!!
Didn’t have a screwdriver handy? Ok so definitely don’t use a big screw gun on that carb drain screw. One wrong move and you will break it right off. This guy may be helpful but thats a bad move. Other than that, Good job man.
Do not buy generac portable generators. I've ran them for years. I am an authorized seller of their portable generators and parts. After years of sales we had a local warranty and getting the warranty has been hassle. Bad inverter on a gp3300i out of the box. China knock off generators have better customer support and don't run 900 dollars. If you want a good generator that has proper support buy a Honda eu series. Generac is a joke. @@GeneratorReviews The micro air 364? I'm kind of torn between the soft start rv and the micro air 364. Two different products
@@solden49 micro air is the one I have
@@GeneratorReviews Thank you sir.
Which would u pick 2 of the generac 3300 or 2 eu2200i honda’s
That’s a big price difference but I would definitely do two generac go3300i
@@GeneratorReviews do u know if they make a extended run fuel system for these generac's
@@kyleerickson3382 Yes all the extended fuel tanks are universal you just have to get the gas cap that fits your generator
@@GeneratorReviews man u really make it tough on which generator to buy 😉 i keep going with the honda's then u come out with new videos damn u 😅
@@kyleerickson3382 Options sucks doesn’t it🤣
Great review
Great videos! Would you go with the GP3300i or the IQ3500?
Both are pretty awesome generators. If you plan on moving around I would go with the compact GP3300i the IQ3500 is the quietest of the two but it’s heavier
@@GeneratorReviews Understood. Thanks for the quick reply!
The heavy larger iq3500 is indeed quieter than the gp3300i?
Thanks, I jus t ordered this generator. If and when it needs some work, where would you recommend to take it? I know the Honda and Yamaha are more common and more dealers, where do I take the Generac?
I forgot to add, I have E Pro 20 FBS. The only thing I intend to use the generator for is to run the air conditioner (13,500 BTU), the microwave, and possibly a hair dryer for the wife. IS there a way to use the generator to charge the batteries if the weather is not favorable for the 200W solar panels?
Your batteries will automatically be charged when you connect to the Rv.
Hey Larry
You should just look up Generac local dealers and service centers most everywhere is going to be able to work on this generator
@@GeneratorReviews thanks
Nice Coach …
Thanks 😊
How many watts were u running??
I try staying around 50 percent of my running watts
What size was the single A/C you ran?
13500 btu A/C
Great video! Can you use these type of generator’s to power your home?
You can use this to power your home but only the 120V appliances. Like the refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven and fans. I recommend you installing a transfer switch. A 10 circuit and pick 10 essential loads you can use a generator like that.
I recommend an Interlock kit in your panel, and then connect a 30-amp twist-lock plug to your panel outside. Cheap, passes code, all circuits available, nothing redundant.
Do you think it will run a 15K air conditioner?
Installing a soft start kit on your 15k air conditioner would help you when running it on generator power. I think this one will definitely be okay with a 15k
@@GeneratorReviews Thank you for doing the video, you did a great job reviewing it. I want the smallest generator that can still run a 15K AC in an emergency. I think this one checks all the boxes and I see it’s on sale for $686.
Where do I get a bonding plug?
Just click on the description and I have all the links to the bonding plug
@@GeneratorReviews Thanks, ordered and will be here tomorrow. Thanks,
you do realize when the unit is switched to OFF the fuel cuts off and the engine runs until the fuel is out of the carb?
is there a dual fuel kit for this generator
Yes they do have a tri fuel kit for the gp3300
@@GeneratorReviews would you happen to know part number
thanks i found it
There are a few. I'm intrigued by this one. Costs more, but might be worth it: grenergy-us.com/blogs/news/facts-about-grenergy-fuel-plate-adapter
What's the cost for it
so this is a 220v generator?line 1 and line 2?
No this is a 120v generator
@@GeneratorReviews so why does it have 2 legs drawing different amps?
@@etuke This is not a 240v generator the reason you see two different legs is because my RV is a 50 amp service are I used an adapter to convert the generator in order to use it on my 50amp amp Rv so those two legs you’re going to have to add them to get the amperage
@@GeneratorReviews think i understand now.Your review has convinced me to buy this generator, should get it in a couple of days.Really like the way you test these products especially with the variable power where you dial in the exact amount you want.Would like to know the DB rating this gen has at the generator, say just standing by it if you have that reading.
@@etuke Even at full load this generator will still be around 72 DB standing next to it. This is one of my favorite generator.
What bonding plug?
Links in the description for the plug
Cool, and thanks!
Thank you
Do you feel this generator will run a 13,500 btu AC unit without a softstart? thank you for taking the time to make this video for us :)
Yes it will
@@GeneratorReviews Do you think it will run anything else along with the 13,500 btu AC without a soft start. If so what else what do you think it can run? :)
I just ordered this Generac unit on sale at Amazon for $600. Almost all of the reviews were positive and the equivalent Honda unit is about four times more expensive. I like Honda products but four time more expensive? That's not happening.
got a link to that? I cant find it that cheap
@@ursusmontanarealtyllc6407 Sorry but bad news... I just went to the Amazon page that I ordered the Generac GP3300i and the price is now $850. Yesterday it was on sale for $599 plus sales taxes. Keep looking and perhaps you can find it on sale elsewhere.
Try plugging in two 1500 watt heaters and see what happens. Probably will have trouble running.
Yeah, it won’t run to 1500 W heaters
Hey Gavin, what is the point of the bonding plug. I have a the Firman 2000 but have not used it yet and want to make sure if I need the bonding plug.
Generators come with a floating neutral meaning that the ground and neutral is not bonded.
So a bonding plug 🔌 is needed for the surge protector to work with most generators
Does the bonding plug need to be used every time I use my Firman 2000?
@@ThePchatty16 yep it does
With or without a surge protector?
@@ThePchatty16 only needs bonding plug with a surge protector
I reported that WhatsApp reply to YT as unwanted advertising or spam. Probably won't do any good but what the heck.

You don't need a surge protector with a Inverter Generator !
Hey Dan
It’s nice having one when the generator puts out low or high voltage your appliances are protected from any damages.
REALITY!!
Just drain your generator completely and you won’t have that problem no gas in the tank
By now you realize your title says 3000 not 3300.
😂 good looking out Jorge👍🏾
Nice test.....
Didn’t have a screwdriver handy? Ok so definitely don’t use a big screw gun on that carb drain screw. One wrong move and you will break it right off. This guy may be helpful but thats a bad move. Other than that, Good job man.
Lol I understand but after 25 years of experience I can perform surgery with a screw gun😅
For 22 years I've been in the outdoor power equipment industry and never found a company this bad, they make Popeyes look like Chick-fil-A.
