- Yo! Easy and nice project for you for the weekend. MDF will cost you only about £40 and glue about £7 and then the emulsion paint another £25. Oh plus £8 for wooden beading on the top. Still cheap.
It is really enjoyable job, with great visual results.
Good luck guys!
Thats the glue:

Great video, such a help for me. I especially like how you responded to all questions. This 65 year old woman is going to give it a go, probably end up glueing myself to the wall! But hey if you don't try you will never know your capabilities!
Yes! Give it a go! Thats right! 💪💪💪💪 thats the purpose of these videos. To show you that you can do it too...your comment gave me a smile. Thanks for that noce comment 👍
Yep, did exactly what you did, B&Q - asked to cut 10 mm strips from a 6mm 2440mm board, perfect job 👍
Thats the story i wanna hear! Great job ! 💪💪💪 you got it
Even the guy in B&Q recommended getting a big board and cut it down, there were people in the queue behind us who them missus took to where the panels were stored to do the same after we told them our plan…. They had 7 packs of the pre- cut packaged stuff in their trolley which they put back immediately… at £18 a pack, they saved a fortune
Love this I was about to buy the sets of panelling but will do this now! Love a hack 😂
You mean 10cm strips 🎉❤😂
@@DillioSmithers exactly 👍 just checking you were paying attention
Excellent video. Thankyou for sharing this tip.
Just an update. I did exactly how you did it in the video and it looks amazing. A quick trip to BnQ and a few hours work. Looks so good. Thanks again!

Nice work!! I have a bedroom to clear and get plastered soon - and might do a feature wall like this, looks very smart! I just went in BnQ to get 18mm MDF for making an electric cupboard, and got it cut down for free, it makes it easier to transport home :)
Thanks Rob, thats it keep up with good work. Good luck boss
Dziekuje! Chyba sama sprobuje, naprawde latwo prosto to pokazales, chyba sie odwaze. Duzo sukcesow w pracy, dziekuje za filmik. 😊
Dzieki powodzonka, good luck!
Love it i have the same wall paennelling in my bedroom on the feature wall where my bed lies against its gorgeous however I want to change theme and go more cottage / Scandinavian style and change to a sage green toned panels it is very boho / Scandinavian at the moment with beige walls and chimney pot colored panels (tercaotta). I loved it for the first year and now I've grown old of it ! So I've decided to repaint and theme the whole bedroom , do you remember at all what paint that was you used for these panels and what color ? I love it i seen an inspiration picture on Pinterest and this near enough matches the sage green tone I was envisioning its gorgeous 😍
Hello thanks for a nice comment. Good luck with your project and here are the colours.....👍

Super :)
Love your work and hints. I am trying to create a feature wall with the battens placed vertically to the ceiling. I have cut two 6 foot by 3 inch mdf battens to go across the top of the wall. The problem i have encountered is when i drew the level guideline across the wall one side of the wall is 3 inches, another is 3 and a quater inches and the remainder is 3 and a half inches from the ceiling. What would you do in this situation? Your advice would be much appreciated. Thank you
Thank you Brenda. Id do aome kind of small wooden beading like picture rail on top it would look good. Good luck!
Im a decorator and want to add this to my services. What should i charge for this type of installation and to paint it thanks!
Id say half a day to built it once you have mdf strips ready plus half a day to paint this panel only so id say about £250. But i am fast so you may need more time so about £350 but also i didnt pay for materials as my clients paid for mdf and glues and paints
Hi, can you tell me the name of the filler please. 😊

What height do you recommend from the top of the shirting for a half wall please? Hope that makes sense 😊
About 1.4m
What filler did you use for the joins?
Used this wood filler:

Siemanko! Filler nazywa sie ronseal wood filler

What material is that
Thats the board:

But that's not 244 in height? Unless you're very tall!!!!
You cut the full lenght strips of mdf in the shop and then you cut to your height you like in your bedroom. Thats about 1.4m height
Excellent video! Will be doing my room soon following your steps! 👍
Lovely jobbly...easy peasy..bish bash bosh...and its done 😀💪💪💪👍👍
What type of paint are you using to paint the wall and mdf?, Did you prime the mdf beforehand
Hey there, So i used johnstones paints. Drop cloth for walls and Treron for panel and inside the panel. All emulsion. I did prime mdf with simplle quick dry woodprimer.
These paints originally are Farrow and Ball but johnstones can mix up "the same" colours in their base. Its a simple matter of cost. F&B are so expensive that most of my clients tale the idea of F&B but mix it in cheaper paint.
Good luck!
@@FinePineNorwichCarpenter thank you

Well done! Thats the whole purpose of these videos.....to show you that you can do it easly yourself, so good to hear it. Greatings flying to canada 😀
In a comment you said it was a f&b colour mixed by Johnsons but you never said what f&b colour it was.
Ceiling wimbourne white
Walls drop cloth
Panel treron
Woodwork wimbourne white in satinwood
Cheers my man!
@@FinePineNorwichCarpenter thanks 👍
What is the width of the mdf pls
All strips are 90mm in width. Good luck! 💪
My wall is 2600mm wide, and I want to have a dado rail at the top. Do I need to join 2 dado rails together or can I get one long one and cut it?
Nice one. I think youd only get 2.4m so probably will need a joint but wood fillerand sand paper can do the magic so you wont see it. Good luck!
@@FinePineNorwichCarpenter thanks so much! Also did you need to use any nails? Or will the no more nails adhesive from B&q be good enough?
@@Mo-ti1hz dont use jo more nails, ise "sticks like s***" thats the name. Its much better. You can find it in b&q
Thankyou for the inspiration!
Oh thanks! Good luck with it!
