I *strongly* suggest you check out Dave performing Black live at the Brits to stay on the theme of conscious UK rap - it was a huge shock over here for someone to perform something that could have come out of Akala's mouth onstage live at our largest music award show (and then win Album of the Year at the age of 21 as well).
100% agree, I made a similar comment on a previous reaction video of theirs but not nearly as well worded as your comment here. The Brits performance of Black by Dave is something I feel everyone should see.

I’m a grown ass man soon to hit 38, seen this over 20 times and it still makes me tearful like it’s the first time I watched it. See how Akala can paint a visual picture for you with just his words. That’s beyond what you expect from any artist from any genre. This guy hits levels most will never reach in a lifetime and it’s inspiration personified.
You too are the cutest couple I seen for years, love you guys and your chemistry, plus your ability to catch bars with an English accent. Never stop doing this, like I said before.. Dang!! Im glad it was not just me all teary-eyed! That was the last thing I was expecting to do was to be crying at the end of this reaction, but it was real! I have been following Akala for a long time I spent the best part of 4 years promoting these UK artists trying to get their names out on youtube especially to an American audience which has a been influence by rap and I have tried to give them an alternative of different styles and rappers from the UK.

I have to chime in here. That 3 part series is ALL necessary if you want an accurate depiction of London living and the trap they got some of our peoples in. It nothing short of a masterpiece to be honest.

I have my top 3, my top 5 UK rappers, everyone has their favourites. I don't know if others do this but personally i put him in his own separate box, he is so much more than a rapper, he is too unique and versatile in so many avenues of art and education. A true Gem. If i have to compare Akala to anyone it would have to be a mixture of educators and political revolutionaries and poets of great historical note. But that's just me haha.

He’s attained mastery to the level where he doesn’t care because he doesn’t have to it’s all muscle memory and reflex by this point

Dave, Akala, Lowkey, Mike righteous, Ocean Wisdom. We're lucky to have some truly great rappers in the UK. But I don't just see them as rappers. They're poets, they actually have a message beyond ego and sex and money.
