Where are you watching? All I can get is a couple opening minutes of an episode entitled The Deputy. I've tried several platforms. I loved this show back in the day, even more than Gunsmoke.
I loved watching him in several western movies when he was younger and heavier, he kept getting skinnier as years went by because he was a heavy smoker with emphysema which would eventually take his life. He was good in any role he did.
Love ❤️ this rest in peace beautiful 😇 🤠💔🙏🏿😘😘😘😘 loved missed but not forgotten always in our hearts ♥️ always and for ever miss u ❤️ ♥️ 💖 💗 💓 💕 ❤️ ♥️ 💖 💗 💓 💕 thank you so very much for sharing ❤️ 💖
Lawman was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I tell you, at 10 years old, he was my first TV crush and he was 30 years older! Forget Peter Brown the other girls liked but I could see John's chiseled handsome looks and that mustache drove me wild-in fact, I have loved mustache's on men ever since then! Thanks for this on an actor who never got to really show his chops! He would have been great in the war movies instead of just westerns.
Lawman brought order into my life, at first I wouldn’t watch lawman cause he took death vallley days spot. My sister kept telling me to give it a chance, I then became obsessed. Lawman is on three times a day and I have two complete dvd sets, one for the house, and one set poolside. I wear a lawman t shirt every day. Lawman brought order to my life. Thank God for lawman.
John was my dad's cousin. I never had the chance to meet him but I did meet his sister several years ago. I love family history and this branch of the family is quite rich. His middle name, Lawrence, is a family name and was my grandfather's name.
I have Lawman on dvd and then put on a Clint Eastwood 'Pale Rider' movie and he was the bad guy Clint kills! That was cool to see him go full circle on westerns!
I have the first 3 seasons of Lawman, looking for Season 4 now! It was a really good show, and unusual for it's time as, despite being very good, Dan was the first Lawman on TV who wasn't infallible. He was fast, but ran into a couple that were faster. He was smart, but he got tricked a couple of times. He always came out on top, but he had to really work at it at times. That made it more exciting!
I spent the last few months buying all the Lawman seasons on ebay. I finally got season 4 and still watching season 1. Also...i saw Clint Eastwoods 'Pale Rider' for the very first time last week...and couldnt believe how great the movie is....plus John Russell showed up in the end as the bad guy! I was like woww ..thats Lawman!!!!!
John Russell I remember when he played the evil Marshall Stockburn and Clint Eastwoods (Preacher) nemesis in the 1985 western Pale Rider and had appeared in another Eastwood western The Outlaw Josey Wales as Bloody Bill Anderson. He went against John Wayne as villain in Rio Bravo
He appeared in two Clint Eastwood westerns as well in The Outlaw Josey Wales and was one of the villains in Pale Rider as the sadistic Marshall Stockburn
Wait a minute. All this lengthy dialogue on an appearance of a fifties episode and NO MENTION IF HIS ROLE IN PALE RIDER? You could have spent time on that and the story behind him getting this late in life notable role.
Yea John Russell played the evil Marshall Stockburn and Russell appeared in Eastwoods The Outlaw Josey Wales and in the John Wayne western Rio Bravo as the main villain.
He was so handsome, and even more so in his 50s and 60s.
A Truly fine actor and a truly great hero.
My favorite western show, still watching in 2023

okay, since no one else will say it, I will. Unique good looks. Surprised he wasn't in league with other hollywood actors.
Thankyou for this video , John Russell was a fine actor , may he rest in peace .
From Australia

Real man
Lawman...Great Show!
Who could forget lawman
The Narrator never mentioned anything about John’s FINAL ROLE: that of the evil
MARSHAL STOCKBURN in Clint EASTWOOD’S “PALE RIDER.”
I just saw Pale Rider for the first time! That was a Great movie!!!!
John was my dad's cousin. I never had the chance to meet him but I did meet his sister several years ago. I love family history and this branch of the family is quite rich. His middle name, Lawrence, is a family name and was my grandfather's name.
Same age as my dad and passed away the same.....WWII made a lot of heavy smokers
Yeah my Dad got the Nicotine Habit while serving in the Army during World War Two.
I knew lawman was special I get up at 4:30 am to watch it
I have Lawman on dvd and then put on a Clint Eastwood 'Pale Rider' movie and he was the bad guy Clint kills! That was cool to see him go full circle on westerns!
Great in Rio Bravo!! 🤩
"traveling to exotic locations, thought the production was confined..." To the studio?
Great western❤

Don't forget him as
Corporal Travis in
"Fort Massacre"(1958)
with Joel McCrea
John Russell I remember when he played the evil Marshall Stockburn and Clint Eastwoods (Preacher) nemesis in the 1985 western Pale Rider and had appeared in another Eastwood western The Outlaw Josey Wales as Bloody Bill Anderson. He went against John Wayne as villain in Rio Bravo
The first episode of Lawman is available on TH-cam, but sadly the others aren't currently posted.😢
He was also in Rio Bravo with John Wayne
He appeared in two Clint Eastwood westerns as well in The Outlaw Josey Wales and was one of the villains in Pale Rider as the sadistic Marshall Stockburn
John Russell handsome and sexy.
I watch Lawman daily. I think that John Russel was sexy as hell. He was a "slim goody" like my late husband 😢.
I always thought he was a very handsome man

So true!
You're right about pale rider and bloody bill in outlaw josey wales
One of his best roles was as the sinister Stockburn in PALE RIDER
Yellow Sky 1948 as well👍🎞
Good actor patriot and Eastwood stuck by him
John Russell starred with Clint Eastwood in Pale Rider.
Wasn't this the guy Clint Eastwood smoked at the end of Pale Rider? "You!!"
Yea John Russell played the evil Marshall Stockburn and Russell appeared in Eastwoods The Outlaw Josey Wales and in the John Wayne western Rio Bravo as the main villain.
Is Bryan Russell, Johns son, he was in an episode. Played Peggy's son
Pale Rider!
John was in 2 different TV shows as Pirate face. Did John Russell actually lose an eye in real life?
Does anyone know what style hat john wore in lawman?
I liked his role in McCloud as the drug dealing cowboy aka Pirate face and McCloud assuming his identity as the drug dealer Harry Hague.
The epitome of square jawed.
An incomplete bio when you don’t mention his role in Pale Rider
He was Bloody Bill Anderson in Clint Eastwoods The Outlaw Josey Wales and was the main villain who goes against John Wayne in Rio Bravo.
Kind of the second team Clark Gable
How is that he went into the Marines in 1942 and was discharged in 1944? America was involved in WWII at that time! Oh... I forgot. The obvious.
Severe bouts of malaria from his time on Guadalcanal.
Thank you. And, I think you mean Claude Akins....not Atkins.
Never cared for him. Seemed like an arrogant person.
You met him?
You should’ve heard what he said about you..
That is one of the silliest things I have ever heard.
@@BethDavis-d9v , you and Groucho.. only he said HOID..
