    We don't have to pay him this off-season. Let him play it out next year and if no deal can get done, tag him.

    Tom Brady was also a unicorn, a 6th round pick who reinvented himself as the years went on and was so good that he didn't need to run. He always had a good defense but he did elevate the offensive players as well.

    Y tf am i all the sudden seeing all these ppl say sh*t about not keeping brock. like are us fans just delusional, he has done nothing but prove himself as a franchise qb, he has carried our team to 2nfcccs and a super owl only to get let down by injuries and our defense. This szn he has still put up decent numbers despite missing half the team, and a disappointing d-fense (also bc of injures.. but mainly nick sorensen)

      I like Brock alot but he did not carry the team last year. CMC did…. This was the year we needed him to carry us more than he has previously. And he didnt get it done. He has proven himself to be a good qb…. Maybe our franchise QB…. But not an unquestioned franchise qb

    It's a good and fair evaluation. In the end it comes back to how both sides approach the conversation. My guess is both will be fair toward each other - Niners have taken care of their people well and Purdy is someone who prioritizes winning over becoming the top paid QB in the league.

  • @joeynickles7962
    @joeynickles7962 11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

    Brock is a good player but Steve is right: you do need to have the cash left over to build around him in a way that goes beyond what you need if you have a superhero quarterback like a Mahomes or an Allen or a Lamar or a Burrow. If your goal is actually winning championships that is. Now if you’re just someone who likes to have a little fun with it on Sundays and Brock is your favorite player and you have his jersey and it’s all about all about hanging out and having a good time at Levi’s or with your buddies at the bar I get that. There’s nothing wrong with that. But a serious organization needs to be incredibly real about their roster and understand the strengths as well as the limitations of the players on that roster, and the importance of getting that evaluation right is heightened even further with respect to the quarterback position.
    Sentiment can play no role in the evaluation of the actual football. And that does make it tough as an evaluator because you build relationships with these players and you’ve been through incredible battles with them and they’ve done so much for you. But if you’re serious about winning that stuff has to be excised from your evaluation.

    Trying to act like those guy are rare lol. At least 10 QBs in the NFL right now have those abilities. Stop it with the homerism.

      @marquisetaylor3711 11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      You still need a brain to process and the skill. Not just the talent. Only those three are consistently dominant in one way or another. Jordan love has a strong arm but not the mind. Caleb has a nice arm but not the mind. CJ stroud same thing. Stafford arm no mobility, same as Rodgers. If Brock was a 99 overall in a game he’d be the most well rounded qb. He isn’t the gameplan but he can execute the gameplan beautifully. You say at least 10 like theirs not 100s of thousand of athletes that play the sport and the difference between top 15 and top 4 is incredibly marginal in the nfl. It’s on the gm and organization to build around him and help him succeed, they already believed in Brock by how they structured contracts this last offseason for him. This year a lot of things didn’t go the 9ers way and that happens. It’s football. But just being a fan that doesn’t wanna pay your top qb because you wanna unicorn doesn’t make you smart it makes you ignorant.

    We need to obviously be wise with money but it’s important that lynch drafts well. Outside of bosa and aiyuk, all of the other first round picks have been busts.

  • @michaelblack6888
    @michaelblack6888 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    If you don't pay Brock Purdy then you have to spend your 1st round pick on a QB which essentially leaves you back at square one. And that is a below average O line and a receiving corp who cannot beat man coverage. That rookie QB is not guaranteed to hit the ground running and has to deal with the same issues that Brock Purdy has dealt with all season long.

  • @Redpoppy80
    @Redpoppy80 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Frankly I think the whole argument of "needing guys around the QB for the QB to be good" is ridiculous. This has been a HORRIBLE season and DESPITE that, Purdy has maintained his place as a top 10 QB with the proverbial world on fire around him with how bad the team has been. He does look off right now probably because he has been diced up but unless someone can show me that the new injury is going to be Purdy's new floor, he deserved to get paid and the market is the market, and that market is $55-$65 million.

  • @nickfindsgold9788
    @nickfindsgold9788 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

    The only two reservations I have about Brock is that arm looks to be struggling to see out the season. The big wrap is back on it on the sidelines.
    Second, if he goes top of the market. I dont see a path to improving the O line to let him dice it up.
    This next draft could have the single greatest impact on the medium term future of the team

    The greatest qbs are not unicorns.. Brock Purdy has the mentality to make plays wanting win and please don’t compare Brock Purdy with Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.. MVPs don’t win championship.. Brock Purdy is different and he is willing to take what is right for him and the team.. he’s not stingy..

    Um, Montana was maholms of his time. Ever watched "The Catch"?
    Montana audibled. Montana scrabbled, Montana rolled out left and right and killed Ds with accuracy and timing.
    Montana is more accurate than Maholms, and remember, who did Montana have as receivers and TEs until 1986?
    Clark, Solomon, Wilson and no name TEs until Brent Jones. John Frank was good, but he left to go become a surgeon. And honestly, Clark would be a TE in today's game.
    Success came due to Montana's accuracy/timing, and ability to ad-lib.

    I don’t think he’s a unicorn but I also still believe he’s a top qb in this league and with the cap increasing I think him getting 55 is reasonable. I get team building issues that may occur but a lot of things have to happen to end up lucking out and getting a unicorn like Josh Allen or mahomes and Lamar, not to mention they’re all in their 6th year and Brock’s only going into his 4th. I believe Brock will do a lot of work this offseason connecting to the rookies and training to get even 3-5 more yards on his ball. He clearly understands the offense really well and with good drafting, I think the 49ers are still in good shape. I believe the defense could really only get better with Fred Warner still being a dawg, renardo green becoming a true outside lockdown corner, mustapha and brown locking up over the top as well. We need to address the defensive line, as well as o line and receivers. I’d release deebo, keep Greenlaw and let huf go as well. That’ll save money and allow us to pick up a top lineman and a serviceable edge rusher in free agency. Draft in this order Oline preferably banks, Omarion Hampton, Any wide receiver taller than 5’10 that’s FAST and an interior DLineman. I’d honestly get another linebacker, safety and kicker to round it out

      Yeah your crazy that ain't happening with the money that Brock is going to be paid. He would have to take around 45 million in order to complete half of what you are talking about. We are loaded with high salaries.

      @ are you stating that as a fact? Based on what? Win total? A team stat? “Eye test”? cause it can’t be qbr, efficiency, passing yards. Touchdowns maybe I get it but this year he’s had four potential touchdowns dropped as well. Red zone offense is a scheme thing and when your team is last in seperation in an even more condensed space it’s going to be that much harder on the QB. You think Josh Allen is any good if his receivers aren’t creating at least a little bit of seperation? Like I’m so tired of people acting like the bills aren’t a good team with a lot of spacing made for them in their scheme. ITS THE NFL AND ALL 32 TEAMS ARE TRYING TO WIN AND BEAT THE OTHERS. All other opponents are paid to stop you and your team. All the top qbs are in their 6th year at least and it took a lot for people to say they were good too but yall look at Brock under a microscope every week and dissect ever single thing he does wrong when in the grand scheme of things a lot of his numbers don’t show the type of player he is but the talent around him.

  • @EmileoCruz
    @EmileoCruz 11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

    This is exactly what I been saying. I like Brock I just don't love him to were I have to pay him 60 million and our team will not be competitive enough to make a championship run. I'd rather trade him or sign Rodgers or Donald maybe Daniel Jones save money and keep Greenlaw and bring in free agents to keep us in the mix. We will not be as good once we pay Brock 60 million just look at Dallas. Our fans are pretty stupid if they think Brock is worth that kind of money.😅 But if Brock is willing to take $45 million like mahomes I feel like he has a chance to play against him in a super bowl rematch because we would be able to surround him with a better team.
