Yeah, I make my first priority on Borneo to make a fort (preferably 2 or 3) precisely to stop that crap. Same reason I slap a fort in Panama if I can get my hands on it.
I always love playing in the Malayan region. It's always a chill campaign since you get so wealthy so fast, no one cares about AE, and the AI is braindead when it comes to naval invasions. The only stressor I have is wanting to colonize all the islands before the Europeans start painting it all piss yellow.
This episode made me super excited for you to play Sambas one day. I hope you do, in any case, as although they dont have the ideaa, they have the unique decision to form Lanfang ofc, which is a HIGHLY unique tag. Lanfang was the most fun Ive had outside Europe in any game Ive played in the last 5 patches.
You asked before about the balance between serious campaigns and more silly ones, and I think I have the approach I would personally find best: If it's a nation that is similar to one you have played before (for example, aragon vs castille vs portugal, which all have fairly similar gameplans) then find a more silly objective rather than rehashing a more serious campaign. If it's a nation that already has pretty obvious well defined ways of being played (e.g. follow the mission tree, do obvious X stuff, such as an Austria PU centric game while also doing HRE stuff), then breaking from the mold is also good, and if you have already played a nation with a similar starting position and gameplan before then similarly do something more silly. There's already countless playthroughs of these nations being done properly - including in your own guides! If it's a nation you already have played a ton of, and just want to mix it up then absolutely mix it up. If it's a nation where the joke almost writes itself (iceberg, airbender) then do it, memes always win. Otherwise, play the campaign more seriously with fairly natural goals for the nation, as not only is it something that you wont have done before, but can also serve as a pseudo-guide to getting established on the nation. As for the sillier campaigns, I'm personally not a fan of outright sabotaging the campaign, but just doing something a bit dumb and trying to make it work is good enough.
Do something truly Wicked for Bruns-Wick, like owning the province of Brunei, converting the province of Berlin to a Islamic religion or form Sami. One of the funniest things I like while watching your videos is how easy you fight wars. I, a casual player, try to do the same and get instantly stack-wiped lol.

I had that 'buggy' Embargo/Unembargo month or two repeat chain from 2 Global rivals of England & Spain against my No.1 Japan recently, before 1,33 'France' update, so this 'bug' is not just Ming but probably Great Power/rival estimation thing!
My guess is it’s from privateering. But could really use a fix where the CB lasts longer so it doesn’t keep nagging like that. Just make the CB last 3 months after last privateered, Paradox and it’ll be golden

Trade Conflict CB pretty much exists so you don't have to no CB coastal nations as a naval power.
