- This loaf is truly special… it’s the type of loaf you expect to find in a 5 Star restaurant. This is an updated video with improved technique.
Bread making doesn’t get any easier than this… no mixer or bread machine (I’ll make the dough in a glass bowl with a spoon)… no-kneading (Mother Nature will do the kneading for me). And I’ll show you how to bake it in a covered baker or a pan.

I'm curious how well it proved considering the recipe said cold water to activate the yeast. I thought you need warm water for it to work better

Holy smokes! This bread is delicious. I made it this evening, 2-10-2021, and just love the smell and the briney taste. Will dip it in herbed olive oil for a snack tomorrow. Thank you, thank you, thank you. To other bakers out there, give it a try. I baked it both ways as shown in the video, covered and uncovered. I have stopped purchasing bread from grocery stores. It is so easy to make and not full of preservatives.
Try dipping in garlic infused olive oil and balsamic vinegar. That's even nicer 😁
Hi Steve, thank you so much for your beautiful recipes. My husband is Italian, he really loves the bread, well, we add coarse black pepper, fresh big garlic chunks and dry rosemary, everybody is crazy about the bread.

I am 82 and love to cook and bake but was always intimidated by baking breads with yeast, until you came into my life. I have now successfully concurred my fear and made artisan bread, turbo bread, raisin and Irish soda bread, and now olive bread. It is so gratifying to serve homemade delicious bread. You make it look so easy and it really is. So glad I discovered your you tube videos. Thank you Steve.

I will have to try this one since making your other breads I now buy bread flour in 25lb bags from Costco. I just made some raisin bread and it was a hit.
Bill Joyce I just started watching Steve’s videos. I subscribed and I was just thinking that I hope my bread when I try it turns out as good as Steve’s does! He is so talented, the breads look so simple to make, Are they really that easy?
@@AvaT42 Yes they are that easy. I have one of his cookbooks and find it worthwhile for the extra tips and recipes. I make his standard no knead bread, the deli rye and raisin bread all the time.

💗 2021-03-22 🍞🥖Steve Gamelin taught me to bake my own bread. I have been making them for almost three years, I mix with dried garlic powder, all kinds of dried herbs, curry, nuts, seeds etc. but also, cinnamon, honey or with extra sugar then you get sugar bread :-) No one makes bread so fast, simpel and much easier as 'Steve from no knead bread'. Ah, now the dilemma, Olive Bread or your Jalapeno Cheddar Bread! While I've made every bread you have shown, these two, while maybe not universal for every meal, are by far my favorites. So many breads and only one stomach. Thanks again for bread nirvana.

I made this with chopped green olives, chopped capers and 1/4 cup of powdered white cheddar cheese (only 3/3/4 cups of flour) and it's fantastic. The dough was a little wet and I think I would cut down on the water a couple of ounces next time. Steve, you have changed my life with your no knead breads!
Adding cheese sounds delicious. Did you proof it in the fridge? Proofing on a benchtop overnight worries me, especially in a hot climate. Should I be concerned?
Lucky you to be baking in a hot climate! I can’t warm my house or kitchen to a comfortable temperature to prove the dough!

WOW I did everything just how instructed but I ended up putting mine on a cookie sheet. WOW turned out perfect in every way possible. Simply AMAZING.
Did you cover it in the oven while it was baking with anything, such as aluminum foil?
This bread is truly incredible! Made a 2nd batch (along with the cinnamon bread my little family can't stop eating it!) and it is going fast! Fantastic cut into small pieces, toasted in the oven on both sides and served with humus. Looking forward to trying out the other breads!
Have made this several times and we just love it. My granddaughter cannot take dairy so this bread using olive oil is perfect. Delicious!
I just made this ,but I added fresh garlic and cheddar cheese, Mr Steve I wish I could show you a picture, and I baked it in my Oval shaped Dutch oven, I put olives and cheddar cheese on top as well ,I can't wait to slice it,thanks for sharing
I'm gonna have to try this. Been working on the raisin bread. I have decided on no cinnamon as it really hinders the raising. Its kind of like No-Dig gardening. Once you try it, there is no going back. No Kneading is only way to go.
I'm baking this today ... only two of us in the house so I cut the recipe in half and I'm using the Poor Man's Dutchoven. I'll let you know!

Superb recipe. Made it yesterday- had to stop myself from eating loads of it. Other half was very impressed even before tasting it. Used dried basil and oregano as I don’t have the other herbs.

I’ve made this a few times and it is awesome, it’s a keeper! And I use my long covered baker too, for this recipe. Super great results! Love dipping this bread in a good pasta/pizza sauce. Thanks Steve for sharing this and all you other great tasting recipes. Your Chewy Oatmeal Cookies are one of my favorites. They’re great just by themselves or you can kick ‘em up a notch with a fluffy vanilla icing in between two cookies. They’re yummy!

I made it and it didn't turn out right. I 'm not sure if my oven wasn't hot enough or if it was because I baked the loves in regular uncovered long bread pans...I'll give it another try!

I've tried making bread a few times over the years. Yesterday I started your olive bread recipe and method and this morning baked it in the oven. That is the best bread I have ever made! I made it in a French casserole dish.
WOW! It's always intimidating for me to do baking, let alone making a bread, just because I am terrible at following recipes with exact measurements like baking vs. cooking 😄
But this video of yours make me wanna try because I love breads especially fresh hot from the oven, ... DA BEST!! 😉

I made this it was P E R F E C T!
So I made this bread the other day. I increased yeast to 1/2 tsp. Didn't have a baguette pan so I put the dough on parchment paper on a baking sheet. I also put a pan of water into the oven to increase humidity. Bread came out amazing!
Yesterday I made this Mediterranean bread by adding flax seeds. The result: heavenly delicious. Thank you👍🏻

Thank you Steve for your wonderful videos. I have been a bread maker for many years and always enjoyed the kneading process. I have tried the Olive bread, honey oatmeal, cinnamon raisin and pizza dough. They are all fabulous and so super easy. I told my hub that he could even make it. I even ordered the stone baking loaf pan. I do have a hint for you. When proofing for the second time I put the bread in the oven turned off. I add 3 cups boiling water in a pan underneath. It creates a crispier crust especially for the olive bread. 🥖

It would be nice to know for someone who does not have a covered baker or an Italian double loaf pan if you told us how long and at what temperature we baked ours on a sheet. Even if it's not as good as one done in a special baker, it should still taste great and even be a reason for buying one of the specialized baking pans. Anyhow, love your channel!!!

He mentions and types the temperature on the screen so the audience can (both) hear him recite as well as read the temperature on the monitor/screen
I think the baking time on a baking sheet should be the same as the double loaf pan. I don't have either of the two pans Steve used so I'm going to try it on a baking sheet also or my Dutch oven. Good luck!
I have always used my dutch oven and it has turned out fantastic.

Looks so delicipus. Have tried several of your recipes and always come out great. Want to try this one and use the green and Kalama but swap out the canned sliced black olives for the little sicilian briny olives I can pit myself. So easy to whack with the flat side of a chefs knife. The lemon with the olives is delicious. Would like to add a few fresh herbs to this, maybe a bit of rosemary, french terragon and marjoram? An herbed olive loaf....😍

My grocery store has an olive bar so I am going to try to make this.What a dummy I am. I was going to use the "bar" but it was $8.99 lb. So then bought an assortment of jars/cans only to get home and realized I bought unpitted green olives. Ugh. What a chore. This did turn out great. The best yet. I would use less Thyme next time. I am also going to try it with just one or two types of olives. Made 2 small loaves. The texture of this is better than the other breads I've made of yours I think because of the added oil.
