Larry is basically just who Geeta assigns to any vacant role. He's a Gym Leader, he's an E4 member, and Geeta talks about sending him off to some tournament if you invite them both.
There is a comic strip about him that honestly kinda makes sense. Larry was isekai’ed into the Pokémon world from being a normal businessman, but he chose to ignore the exciting world of Pokémon and continued to be a businessman.
"How did they let you take a picture like that?" "I just turned away when the photographer said 'say chespin'...I mean uhh, it's about having connections. Yeah. That's it."
Man. Now I'm curios if Pokemon is having bastardized english localization or if its actually a 1:1-ish translation of what each character says after reading Ionos dialogue.
@@Broomer52 I’m gonna try and look for the whole Japanese script for these games. Cause this actually smells like the current controversy’s with English localizers
@@gabrieln8003 Pokemon localization is all done in house, these are translations done by The Pokemon Company themselves, not some third party translator. The translations are accurate.
Iono being unironically surprised that Larry was able to go so unnoticed due to his contacts is pretty funny.
I'm so glad Gen 9 gave us the "only sane man" character, and of course he specializes in normal types.
I take it he's an introverted/socially anxious person that somehow manage to become Gym Leader but doesn't want the fame of it.

Less “socially anxious” and more “wants to spend his downtime in peace”. Dude is clearly overworked, so he doesn’t want it interrupted.
This is why, even in 2024,we still love Larry. Man's just relatable.
0:22 Well with how much Geeta seem to overwork him the least she could do is put up with requests like these
She's never seen his face either. He turns around whenever Geeta enters a room.
his reasoning actually is understandable I'm sure even some famous people would want some down time in the city which would be hard to do
Larry my hero

I am convinced he is some kind of reverse Batman.
Iono did you know privacy
She did not know
*It's a me, Larry*
“It was me larry! I invited you here to make sure you were fired from your other two jobs due to absences”
I chose Larry because I felt bad how sad he was
Confirmed that Larrys the type of guy who knows a guy
Extrovert vs Introvert
He’s so based
What place is this? I don’t recall this white room

It’s hard to have 1:1 translations when it comes to slang and quirky language. Sometimes translators have to get creative.

@@getsinged7631 Oh ok. That’s actually very reassuring thank you!
@@gabrieln8003there's a controversy?
0:33 Iono, I think there’s a problem with what you said there.
Adulting =/= Adultery
Adulting is a dumbass slang term for doing the things expected of an adult (i.e having a job and being responsible)
