@@BoardGameCo What are shira's current favorite area control games and in which order. Which area control game is a 6 in that you can wake her up for it.
Exactly my type of game. Which means I'll never get to play it. I don't know anyone who is willing to play a game like this enough to get good at it. I was in a group for a while but they would play a game twice and then go to another game. A fantastic game that will never get to the table. Another one like Star Wars Rebellion.
@@BoardGameCo OK, I'm in. I backed the bonus one with sleeves and a couple of extras. Worse case scenario is if solo does not work well or I can't find someone to do the game with, keep it in the box and since it has more in it than the retail issue I should be able sell it.
How does this compare to endless winter, Ruins of Arnak , Dune and several other deck builder slash area control games. have you played the final product any further thoughts?
Thanks for the insights. Im sill on the fence with this one... luckily I have some time to think about backing or not until the german kickstarter goes live
Just a quick heads up: the Spieleschmiede Version won‘t have the Kickstarter Exclusives by the FAQs on the page. It might be worth backing at the 5€ level to have access to tje pledge manager, then see the Spieleschmiede version and then decide which one to get. At least that‘s what I‘m thinking about
@@MrSoulslasher Good to know, thank you. Maybe I will do this aswell... If they don't have the exclusives, it should be at least less expansive, right? Because otherwise backing at spieleschmiede would make no sense.
@@Smurfname here the quote from the kickstarter page faq: Spielschmiede version of the game will contain the core version of the game with the unlocked stretch goals but without any Exclusive content and without the Enforcers Expansion for free. That‘s why I will back the kickstarter with 5€ and then see what Spieleschmiede will be able to offer
This game is way way way too expensive. I love AR and CMON and Kickstarter, but they and us (who support their games) have made companies think that every game needs to be $100 +. Add to this the crazy shipping (not their fault) and the lack of exclusives make backing this game a bad investment. Game looks interesting, but there similar games that scratch the same itch for a lot less money.
@@BoardGameCo Godfather might be a bit to light for you, but it still gives super fun decisions to make in short playtime. Game unfortunately has some strange graphic design choices but other than that its amazing for 2-5 players.
Seems interesting, the high price point makes me think that I would be just as happy playing godfather for less money. This doesn't stop me from hoping a friend in one of my game groups buys it so I can try it though. lol
If you don’t like this game because it can be vicious then avoid Godfather by CMON. I also have a game called Mob Ties which is also very brutal. I believe you can feed your enemies to pigs in Mob Ties. It’s been a while since I played that game.
I agree with Shira... I think you should get more for controlling more. Maybe in the end game points, you get $5 (or maybe $7?) for each area/neighbourhood you control. In the real mob world, it is about territory, so controlling more territory should be encouraged and rewarded. Hopefully Redzen can make such an adjustment to the rules.
I'm wondering about this as well but maybe the following might be the reward: If you have several control markers on the map whereas the others only focus on one. It is devastating for your economy to lose that marker. Before they can sell things, they need to put new control markers on the map first. Hence they usually need several turns to put out thugs and size a neighborhood. Really looking forward to an answer / opinion on this.
This was definitely something I noticed on my recent play through. It wasn’t even worth the trouble to take over hoods during the last round since they take so much effort and don’t net you any cash. Likely add some house rules for this.
I like how the game has 3 different thug models for each gang. However, this is just superficial. I wanted the idea of a Capo/Lieutenant figure that you could bring into the game. Alternatively, it would be cool if there were invidual mercenaries you could recruit. I think they are semi-doing this with the Enforces Expansion that they are including in the pledge.
Thank you guys for the great review again! I'm following this game since the beginning now and am very interested in it. But as a german backer with the upcoming "Spieleschmiede" crowdfunding I'm holding back, hoping it gets less expensive, eventhough it wouldn't have kickstarter exclusives... but is it even worth backing then? Really weird, that it starts at 99€, but I might jump in.
Agreeing with most things said. Good and bad. But it seemed like so much fun, long or not. Had to get used to the term 'this game is broken', but after some play throughs and reviews from you and the quacks, I actually do like it just like 'this is messy'. Happy to see that you've been enjoying the game. A gorgeous looking game, with great theme immersion and although too expensive a definitive back for me. But would love to see some more extra's for the backers.Anticipating the last 72 hours of this campaign to see if we get some nice surprises. Small card text could be an issue... thanks for the review, again this game looks like a reskinning and deeper Godfather: Corleone's Empire. Alex any chance you can get a play in on that before the kickstarter ends and then give us your thoughts on this versus that. This is a definite commitment to call all in, and is it going to be the same game if you don't? I really like the looks of it, but.......
From what i get the game is really messy but well balanced. As you can do so much some aspects could have more depth to it. But as long as it is balanced and all the paths you can use are viable i am absolutely fine with that. At least after all these videos i can say pretty sure that this is a game that is gonna be liked by my group.
Messy and unbalanced, some bosses (purple and alcapone) are broken, many useless actions or situational. Some jobs are broken same with associates and we you can raid like 3 times in a turn is a fun to broke everyone.
@@Zeatox Gotcha, yeah, I guess I was stating the obvious. You own the retail? And if so, do you like it? I'm planning on backing this when they launch the expansion this summer. Can the bourbon scale be retired? A rating scale is a failure if you have to preface and explain it every time it's used. I thought 1 bourbon was good at one point, but then it was 5 bourbons and now it's bottles? Oye. Great reviews Quack, terrible rating system.
The price-point is what kept me from getting this one. I believe there are games that offer this amount of content for a more reasonable price. The quality and value is there but since I’m not a mob-theme die-hard, I couldn’t justify the cost. 🤷🏽♂️
Expensive back. I’m not crazy about the mobster theme either, but the game does look more than good and fun enough to capture my interest. The only thing is I don’t know if I’ll have people to play it with. If it wasn’t for the price point, I would give it a shot, but as for now, still on the fence... And it’s not EU friendly, I think. Yikes. * Edit: It is EU friendly! My bad...
