This show shouldn't have been called Penny Dreadful. It has nothing to do with the lore. It would have been better off as a stand-alone series

Indeed , i almost though there was another season of penny dreadfull( the show with eva green) and turns out it has nothing to do with it.
Well You know penny dreadful was new paper with horror short stories in it they were never the same storylines And thats where the show got its name so that actually makes sense.
But yeah I'd have felt better if they connected the mythology somehow
Like mentioning amun ra and amunet just *once* thier relationship and their place in the supernatural hierarchy would have sufficed

I'm not sure if it's been confirmed or not, but Magda is one of my favorite versions of the Devil. Her and Lucifer Morningstar of Lucifer. Which is pretty ironic, considering they both played husband-and-wife in this British One Season Wonder called The Fades. Which, incidentally, starred a Pre-Fitz Ian De Caestecker.

We are only humans. We can't be all light or all dark. If we could we turn into a angel or a demon. Thing is that wich one we will grow stronger. Light or the darkness? Choosing eather one is hard. Some times choosing light is hard and some times is very easy. If one day and that day will come to you and you regret the choices you make just do something about it. We are only human afterall. But be sure this one is the right one. Be sure as possible this one is the one you are eager to grow out bigger and stronger. Good luck my sister/brother. Surely you will need it. Give me luck too. Surely I will need it this day or the another everyone will need the luck only God can give.

Lorenza Izzo as Santa Muerte and Natalie Dormer as Magda were excellent...but the show was...well indeed dreadful. Dreadfully boring, bland, with an unremarkable cast, nonsensical storylines and plot points all of them wrapped in a thick, mind-numbing and idiotic blanket of wokeness and virtue signalling. Add to that shoddy special effects, crappy cinematography and it is no wonder it got cancelled.
Instead of doing a standalone show that could have explored the richness of Latin American culture, especially it’s mythology and supernatural elements...we got this ill conceived spinoff with the title of “Penny Dreadful” attached to it, something that didn’t bode well before the show even premiered.
I’ll say this though, Santa Muerte, was one of the best designed and realized characters I’ve seen in a while. From her look, to her presence, makeup, costume and just stunning beauty of both the actress and character she inhabited in a quite memorable fashion.
Too bad...this was such a missed opportunity.
