I don't see anyone talking about this, but I was actually truly impressed by the fact that when she was transforming herself she chose to keep her self-inflicted scars. It shows how although she wanted beauty, she also never wanted to forget the pain and scars of her past. She wanted to continuously remind herself of all she went through to reach at that point in her life. Moreover, she also didn't want to lose her identity, her sense of who she was deep down inside.
Her story intrigued me the most. You see her struggle. You feel the pain she goes through. She was at her lowest point in her life but she overcame it. With the help of her instructor, she became such a powerful sorceress. She doesn't waste time and she's not the typical naive girl you see in shows. She knows what she wants and will meet ends to get it. A self driven power hungry woman.

when yennefer says "I want everything" I always got goose bumps, she was extremely strong in the first season getting my attention just for her no wonder she became my favorite character right off the bat, I hope in the second season she comes back stronger than she already was.

She can't harness all of her powers, at least not yet, but she is basically God. She learns some magic, can instantly teleport to different worlds and she can time travel at will, plus eventually she learns to sword fight like Geralt. Combine all that together and you get a complete bad ass. She is the lady of space and time. So if there were a group of guys she had to fight she could take them all out in the blink of an eye, or if she had an enemy, instead of fighting them she could go back in time and kill their parents before the enemy was even born, or if someone was sick she could go in the future and get modern medicine. The possibilities are basically endless. The bad guys want to use her as a weapon to take over all the land and have complete control. Season 1 of the netflix show has barely scratched the surface of the complete story.
Some of them are right. She is astonishing in the screen, her performance is magnificent. That’s true. YET..She is not the Yen they imagine..or have seen through the games or books. That’s all. The series definitely made Yen my favourite character, I love the direction they've taken with her. Her journey, especially in the beginning, reminded me a lot of my own past; her transformation and having to find the woman she wanted to be within herself before showing so on the outside reminds me of my journey as a transgender woman. I'm not trying to bring anything political into this and I'm by no means saying the writers of either the show, the game or Sapkowski himself drew parallels - on the contrary; I highly doubt it. It was just something that I, as a person, could connect with and find my own meaning in and as such Yennefer of Vengerberg has become a personal inspiration for me, to keep fighting and not give up, even when you're at your very lowest. When I now imagine the most powerful woman in the world in my head, I imagine her and aspire to be as strong as she has become. Just my own thoughts and feelings with Yen and I'd appreciate anyone refraining from making this a political argument about trans people or anything.

Her scars were her own choice. It shows she wants to have control. The same reason why she wants to regain her womb, she wants to have a choice.
If I had the choice, I would keep my scars. They show that I am strong and have made it through hell.
