Insurance alone on electric is prohibitively expensive. If you can get it. Some ferries won't allow electric vehicles to travel. Some buildings won't allow parking.

Its high time that all of this policy movement to enforce foreign policy on Australian soil against the Australian people is thrown out and made a crime to even put before government. NONE of this is backed by the majority of the Australian voters NONE and its high time the government at all levels are held to account for this serious issue of passing bills that do not reflect the needs and wants of the majority. Any politician can say well we were voted in then all we put up has a mandate. FALSE. We see this so many times where bills are passed by government that cannot be backed up by real provable statistics. Those who we vote to represent us MUST be forced to vote based on what the majority of the voters they represent want with proof NOT the party and sure as hell not what lobby groups or foreign interests want. This is a core issue as to why this country has gone to shyte but nowhere is anything being done to change it as it profits both sides of politics which for some reason the Australian public seem to love voting back in. The current system revolves around we the people stating objection when in fact it should be they the public SERVANT proving support. How many times have you heard on the news figures stated in response to " polls" used to make definitive statements based on 1500 or so responses ( of which there is no context given) in a country of 25 million or so ?

it's not even backed by science. if you look at the ''science" of the "issue", australia is not contributing to the ''problem'', statistically, and even if they DELETED our whole island, it wouldn't remedy anything, because, they're making no effort to stop china or india polluting. or, that taylor shift woman etc from flying around in a private jet.

we are the carbon they want to zero.. it is the only conclusion anyone can logically and reasonably come to.
electric cars are environmentally toxic to produce, the electricity they use is made from coal and diesel generators.
and even if the whole population of australia just "rolled over" so they stopped producing any carbon, it would have no bearing on the worldwide "problem", they would need to go after China, India, and taylor swift and her private jet. but are they? no, they're going after the little man.

What's the cost of repairs on electric cars? More electricity to be supplied then cost of electricity will rise. Electric cars are too expensive and as you said depreciation is a big loss.

More than efficient - it’s easy to make. (ICE)
You cannot power a grid of sufficient size or capacity to power all transport using battery or a combination of energy generation. The technology/system is possible with HV distribution and redesigning the entire network but worse doing it this way requires EXTERNAL CONTROL and timing mechanisms….battery tech is now where near where it HAS to be for it to make sense. Both of these would bankrupt us multiple times over. Build coal. Can still do nuclear if we want. Solar and battery has its place but it isn’t running the grid. It’s exclusively for when the grid isn’t logical, economically feasible or practical/available…..

I'm not saying I'm big on the environment, but what is the position of some of our political parties on energy? I can't find much info online about this doing a quick search, for myself I believe in a mixed approach to energy, I believe in a free market new technologies should be tried and tested to see what works best and what doesn't and then discard what is crap.

Courier Maill Victoria labour government said in 10 years
they what's all roads tolls and ever one would by the kilometres and they said in peck hours traffic you pay higher rates per Kilometres and they allso said if they don't like the type you drive You a higher rates per Kilometres + the would allso go by the age of ot the vehicle every EV vehicle to $$$😅

Modern engines are nearing their peak of efficiency. Any future gains will be tiny at best. The MPG or Lt/100Klm has remained much the same for the last fifty years when enines have gotten more powerful. More than a year ago Avis rent-a-can in the US sold off their whole fleet of 25,000 EVs because of increased costs.
