I still have my Polo 1.4, 16v 75hp from 2002. I bought it like 4 years ago. Rock solid works even today. I just need some paint correction.... That engine indicator - it turned on for me as well, once I had put a different type of petrol, because it was convenient for me to go to another gas station than the one I often go. Indicator was there for a month, basically for duration of the petrol in tank and when I refilled at usual station, with usual petrol, it was gone.
Nice car!!!! And that engine is one of the most balanced of that Polo generation, a good choice as second hand-second car because 75 CV are more than correct for urban use...good test Joe!!!!
Unfortunately this engine is cheaply build and suffers from piston slap. I’ve got 3 cars with the same engine and they all used around 1 liter per 500/1000km.
@@otfjericho9979 The one I'm getting is from 2004 and has just over 100,000 miles, the only thing we've done to it is replace the spark plugs. It needs something to do with the exhaust fixing as it is blowing somewhere, but that's for a mechanic to fix. Otherwise, no problems at all.
I have a 2003 Polo 9N 1.4 with 75bhp and right now I have 263,000 kilometres on the clock. At 110,000 kilometres I fitted an LPG kit and I had no issues so from the kit. As for the car, overall it has been good and reliable. I had to change only once the lamba sensor, the 4 ignition coils, the butterfly valve and a part for cooling the oil. Other than that, I change the oil every 7,500 kilometres and all the other maintenance components every 15,000 kilometres. As a VW car, the check light is always on, but still after all these years it doesn't burn any oil,so I guess it will last for many more years.

my biggest question is: how did you instal the radio? I'm struggling as I don't seem to have a continuous plus in my polo (it's the same polo as in this video).. and yes, I tried to switch the continuous plus cable with the ignition plus.. I couldn't measure all the voltage yet, but maybe you had the same issue and a solution for me? ;) thank you!

Miałem nie przyjemność użytkować POLO IV ale z silnikiem 1.2 jako auto zastępcze. Lepiej mi się jeździło Polonezem Caro + czy Felicią. Polo fajne auto do miasta tylko ten motor 1.2 to padaka.

I've got the 1.2 6v 54bhp 80ft lb torque. Limited power above 60mph (yeah I know...) but it's still a good option for a small car.

No it's not! The 1.9SDi is a diesel *without* a turbo! That is never good. 0-100 is about 18 secs with that SDi engine.
