    nice work! any tips on how to fish LBJ?

    • @FishATX
      @FishATX  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I honestly don't get to fish LBJ very often. But when I'm there, I mostly fish boat docks and rocky drop offs. LBJ has a lot of different types of structures to fish but those big bass always love boat docks. Especially the ones that are on or near drop offs in 5-10 ft of water. I also look for transitional areas on the bank such as a flat section that turns into big boulders or broken rocks. Those transitions will usually hold bass. Up the lake there used to be some good vegetation growth that was good for flipping and pitching in the pockets but it's been a while since I've fished up there. Good luck and let me know how you do!

      @@FishATX nice! where do you launch your boat at? can you drop some locations on the boat docks you were at?

    There is an LCRA fishing area close to the Ferguson Power Plant where the warm water is expelled, it's a great spot in the winter.

    • @FishATX
      @FishATX  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice video. I'm heading down to LBJ this summer from Oregon. I've only ever fished it in the spring though, any summer tips for there?

    • @FishATX
      @FishATX  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Man I haven't been able to get back out there in a while to be honest! But during the summer, the boat docks are the way to go for sure. Any dock that's located in 5-10 feet or right on a shelf will hold bass. I like to flip creature baits Tx-rigged or finesse worms/ribbon tail worms on a shaky head. If you use the ned rig that works too. There's also multiple granite rock humps in 10-20 foot of water that have paid off for me too.

    Did you guys launch from the marina next to the dam? Was it tough with low water?

    • @FishATX
      @FishATX  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep that’s marina we used, off of Wirtz Dam Rd. They’ve extended it out with rocks/gravel so it’s not TOO bad. Just make sure to take it slow and easy around the lake because there’s a lot of very shallow spots that aren’t marked. We nailed the prop pretty bad at one point!

  • @Scorpion23texas

    Is there a public boat ramp bro how much they charge

    • @FishATX
      @FishATX  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah we put in a LBJ Marina off of Wirtz Dam Road. I think it’s just a drop box style payment for like $10. There’s also another ramp in Sunrise Beach Village area, and one in Kingsland. I know the TPWD page has two of them mapped out with directions. I’m not completely sure about the cost but it’s not much if there is a fee.

      Hey man I apologize somehow I never got a notification of this message! I really appreciate that though. It's been tough to get out and fish here too lately but I've been trying my best to hit ponds and creeks just to cure the itch haha. I definitely want to fish Florida at some point though for those BIG bass and some peacock bass!

    What part of the lake is that. Never fished LBJ and would like to try it. Not even sure where to launch. Any Help??????

    • @FishATX
      @FishATX  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey sorry for the late response! We put in near the dam at the LBJ Yacht Club and Marina off of Wirtz Dam Rd. I think there are a few other public boat ramps up the lake but I don't know exactly where. Once on the lake, I usually fish boat docks near drop offs or look for underwater humps with structure on them. I only get to fish it once or twice a year though unfortunately!
