The Last Bastion cinematic from 6 years ago makes a lot more sense now, it's almost poetic. An Omnic designed to destroy humans, waking up with a choice, seeing the consequences of war, and choosing to kick it in the woods with Ganymede instead.
It's even more poetic that Bastion never had a choice. Bastion units are not omnics, so they were never given an awakening (seen in the video the disproportionate number of Bastion units in the ana shot at the end). Bastion MADE their own choice, through sheer force of will and curiosity, a sort of second aurora.
@@Xenomorpheus429its more like a miracle, that story now makes me emotional knowing the full story. Its sad that overwatch is going down hill considering what could been the story mode and much more would been awesome
I wish for story how omnics treatment would chance and more about omnic corp, even like the war which comes bc of nulsector and how omnics would be able to recreate themself. Have to say ow needs an series on yt

He awakened to his brothers and sisters fighting and dying all around him so with his new child like mine he ran out of fear
Even though he still has combative programming he was terrified and confused like most omnics
@@Xenomorpheus429I’m sorry to disappoint you but the bastion siege automaton was an omnic designed partly by torbjorn as a kind of peace maker in case wars broke out they would be deployed from there respective bases

A lot of omnics with combative capacities where actual designed by torbjorn which is why he has a prejudice against them
Because he thinks a good part of the crisis was his fault

After watching this, Ramattra’s disdain for Anubis is understandable.
From what I can tell, he wants freedom, and Anubis to him is like an evil god who held him and his people prisoner.
Also interesting to know what the deal with the Iris is.
What I want the iris to be is to be an over powered source of power and wisdom but I also want doom fist and his company to try harnessing it for power and hanzo to come while ow looses and use the sword for the first time since his battle combining the two dragons since he would take genji sword and fight with doom and win even when doom has the iris but this kills hanzo so while hanzo thought he killed his brother before he sacrifices himself for him
So. . . Aurora is Echo's predecessor. That voice interaction makes sense, now.

No one took their pleas seriously.
They created a nation for themselves : selling their products to the outside world - but their products and services threatened to bankrupt other man-made businesses with how sophisticated they were.
So humanity attempted to wipe them out with nuclear weapons.
And then essentially - having had enough : the machines destroyed their former masters.

Well now it explains why bastion went red for a moment. Like as if the Anubis ai tried to recontrol him, only for the bird to show his choice.

Anubis I don't think was removed. Simply made dormant. Possibly all omnics are walking sleeper agents. My theory at least.
@@4ardW0rKINGbarn1CALanubis is still around in a central server that they have quarantined off from everything else. You see them blocking it off near the end of part 3. The vtols are literally sealing the building in Cairo (looks like a pyramid) that the anubis server is located in.
Also, someone tried to free it in the overwatch comics

Okay it was short yet I'm tearing up. God damn you Blizzard for making a great and moving and emotional shorts.
Blizzard really should just quit and make animations by this point, they've lost their spark for games.

@@stolenhero6650 ik this comment is old, but that isn't Efi. The scene pictured is pre-crisis, making it ~30 years before canon. It IS theorized to be Sojourn's niece who was a child during the crisis.
I feel like this would be an amzing anime serious, before overwatch and aftermath of everything.

So they sacrificed a Sentient Robot that could make Choices in a Machine, so she could give all Mindless Robot the ability to make a Choices as well? And some helped others still Fought. Well now this makes the Omnics more than Us Human's now, they can make choices..
I really would've, wanted to see what could've been done with the story mode. Seeing the possibility of more enemies and new PVE designs.

Its a shame mina liao died she was a real cool character. Also i know echo didnt receive auroras gift but is she still sentient/conscious
Not sure. I think she's just a super advanced AI like Jarvis from Marvel.

I think I remember reading somewhere echo is essentially a copy of liaos mind and arguably sentient because of this. I think its somewhat just an inconsistency in the lore created by genesis coming after all the rest. The characters certainly treat echo as sentient
@@brandongamer96 yeah because her AI is made for observation she canonically exhibits the same sense of humour, speach and behavioural patterns due to the amount of the liao spent in echos presences while testing her
The animation is surprisingly great
I I genuinely cried at the end, and I don't really know why? I just felt happiness all over my body. Is this what religious people feel? Is this what people felt when they heard the Buddha? Did aurora reach illumination? Why do I ask this? I'm not even a Buddhist but all this came to me while watching the video.
Oh, She absolutely did. Aurora finally reached her enlightenment at that moment, and She became the *Iris* that gave the Omnics the ability to finally see themselves for the first time.
I cry nonstop to OW's Story, without Fail. It did'nt take much to do this to us (I presume it applies to us all), just an Honest Reflection of Reality with a Shimmer of Hope and loads of Aesthetic pre-installed. 🫶🏽
So uh… I just thought of something. If the story progresses to a Second Awakening, do you think ECHO would have to step up the way Aurora did?
So correct me if I am wrong here, but as I understand it the story goes that Anubis sees what humanity does to earth, then acts upon it? Pretty much what todays AI researchers is warning us about what will happen if we develop a super intelligence in real life.
i'd say your 100% coorect on that to be honest. i can see this right here happaning or something like halo. AI can be used for good but if we try to shoot to the star to fast now something like this could be bad.
It is just plainly stupid to make A.I. which you cannot understand fully.
If you cannot understand IT, you cannot be ready when IT wanna to crack you head in halfs.
Yes, that is in part why this Story is so relevant and appealing IMO

You're telling me that Anubis built thousands of robots, some the size of buildings and no one noticed. In real life Anubis would've been destroyed within the week of its activation.
They could’ve been built underground or in the ocean, that or they were built later on in the war when the elements of surprise had disappeared
To be fair it looked like when the initial surprise of a Omnic revolt happened, Anubis had only modified normal Omnics and made them combat ready. The big boys were a later addition in the war. But by that time, Anubis was already too defended to shut him down

overwatch needs a story mode so much
Just released recently but they're doing it bit by bit not all at once.
So Overwatch where is our movie, you have proved time and time again that you can do it.
This is why robots are always at a disadvantage when it comes to thinking. Their minds are simple enough to infected with malware.
I love how overwatch blends technology with religious themes so well. Like, i never would've thought the omnics gained sentience through the first one reaching enlightenment like that. Its very beautiful and unique... Im still sad about the scrapped story mode tbh

Am I the only one who catched some Animatrix vibes from the 2nd and 3rd episodes? The Second Renaissance to be precise. All this futile strugglle of a man vs machine. Really looks familiar in the emotions it summons

Humans and omnics can make sentient-like robots (ex. Echo and Orisa) but they are not considered omnics because they did not receive Aurora's gift of sentience.
Is it me or is this really boring? Seems it's not made by the same Blizzard team that made the other cinematics. I'm falling asleep on this one.
