I bought one, it became my EDC over a Glock19, or an XD. Small, holds 12+1, and it runs. 100% 500+ rounds. A friend bought one and we put 100+ rounds through it new after a cleaning and never an issue. So far the only "complaints" are coming from Glock Fan Boys or Sig fan boys who feel stupid for spending 3x as much.

I have had mine for almost two years now and not one issue. It carries nice, and is easily forgotten as it is small for its cap. Most people hate it for being a Taurus and no other reason. Quality gun at a great deal. Only paid $200 for mine:)

  • @erikstone4263

I bought one of these because I needed a cheap gun to use in my CCW classes. I paid $199 at Cabelas. I took it to the range, 200 rounds, no malfunctions. It's simple to break down. It has become my every day carry firearm. My usual EDC was a Sig P290s. The weight is almost the same, the width is really close, with the Taurus being maybe 1/8th inch wider, but the Taurus is a12+1 doublestack versus the 7+1 single stack Sig. And the trigger reset is awesome compared to the full double action draw of the P290s. My only gripe is that there are few accessories out there for the Taurus. You get the factory sights and there are few other options. That being said, the factory sights are adjustable and more than adequate to do what was designed to do, which is to reliable put rounds on target at close range. For $199 it's a home run!

You could say for a $260 gun it does alright. The truth is it would be a good buy at $400. The older PT111's had their issues, but newer ones fixed most if not all it's bugs. I bought one for my daughter when went off the school for a nightstand gun in her apartment. I put it through the ringer first, and absolutely beat the hell out it.. It never stopped shooting. That's all you need in a home defense gun. She likes the recoil how it fits her hands and shoots it very well. I own everything from CZ's to 1911's and could be a gun snob if I wanted to be. It's just a good little pistol. I can't make myself hate this thing. Great review.

Own several Taurus pistols. ALL ARE GREAT! This PT111G2 is a Very reliable and useful firearm. Just finished a several day Defense Pistol Shooting course at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM. The PT111G2 did an Awesome job! Lots of dirt, sand, wind, insects, rained on us, and VERY HOT! Gun was very effective. As a former military Army SF Ofcr and an NRA Instructor, this is a great pistol to have. Thank You for the useful educational demo!

@@stevenkinnison8044 This post was three years ago and prices have gone up. The G2c has replaced the G2 Millennium. The G2 Millennium had a known problem of some sear blocks breaking and it had that safety lock on it. At one time a C9 and a G2c were running close to the same price. Even $80 is not that big of a difference now it seems. My G2c just flat out runs any ammo I run through it and its still flawless over 600 rounds of all kinds of ammo.
I would love to have the control and be able to shoot as well as John in this video.

Ray McDermott Ray, I did the utube review circuit, then bought two at SportsmanSupply for that $190's range.
I like em...one a 9mm, the other a 40 S&W. Daughter ran a box of 40, got a little blister on little finger, switched to the 9mm, wouldn't give that one back.
      Smooth, awesome grips, runs.
Hard to beat. Lots of guns rack hard, this is smooth, good trigger break for out of the box.
      Rare quality, under priced.

I've had one for a few years and it's my primary ccw. I've bought others to cc but I always pick up my PT11 G2. Only problem I've had is my rear sight screw fell out. Luckily I found it cause they are hard to find. Just make sure you locktite it before you lose it. But it has been over 2 years of daily carry and being thrown in the glove box etc and it just fell out. Over 5k rounds through it and only problem so far is a few cheap steel case Ammo from the same box failed to feed. Little tap and they all fired. Great gun.

We've bought 4-5 of these. Mine has a 2.5 lb trigger. The g/f's is 8.9! She was pissed. Wanted to trade for mine or take it back to the dealer. Had a problem with the locking system on hers coming unlocked when the mag was inserted and tapped in. Also refusing to lock with mag inserted. Dealer had his gunsmith look at it and could not duplicate the issue and it's worked well ever since. Great cache gun. Dealer told her to run snap-caps and work the action to get the trigger broke in. Decent guns for backup gun.

Have mine about 18 months now. First time at range I had 2 FTF' s and the screw came out holding the rear site in place. Got home from the range and called Taurus for a site screw. Had the new site screw in 10 days no charge. While waiting for the screw I used rubbing compound and polished the feed ramp. After those 2 first issues I have put a thousand plus rounds thru with not one issue. I like the gun, I trust the gun and carry the gun. It's the smallest 9mm I own. It's good for EDC and accurate enough to take out a threat. Mine seems to shoot the same patterns your good video. Just subscribed your channel after enjoying a few of your videos. Thanks!

Cylinder will turn about an eighth inch then stop. Works similar. Great for transporting to range or temporary lockup if grandkids come to visit. Less hassle and can keep it on keyring so won't get lost.

My only complaint is the trigger break being SOOOOO far back, but the weight and reset is fantastic so it's just fine after I got used to it. I can get decent groups at range with it no problem. Heard many complaints of semis since the early 2000s. Never had an issue with any Taurus' I've fired. They do have an eerie feel of springs and thread and bubble gum. But their G2Cs are still shooting great 5 years later and are up there with "Glock Perfection". Love them all, especially inexpensive.

Dilly Dilly!! Great Video..I was just looking at the new P365 info because I have quite a few Sigs and like the way they shoot. But then I thought wait a minute, I have a gun like that, the G2
1' wide, holds 12+1 rds, comes with 2 mags weighs about 20oz. and goes bang every time I pull the trigger. I bought a Millennium when they first came out and still have it (about 15 yrs I guess) and haven't had a problem with it. I have not had a problem with the G2 I've been having about a year. I have many single stacks in 9mm, P938, XDS, EMP, CW9, LC9s, Shield, Solo, Micro 9 and many sub compact 12 rd guns. Hell the kimber solo I won't carry because it has never cycled 100% even with factory recommended ammo! And it cost 5 times as much! This is a great gun for the money! Like my grandpa always said " It's like a sore peter, you can't beat it!!"

@@hansvonmannschaft9062 Their Service Sucks! But This little Gun is a Jewel in their crown! The reason I say this is I have been waiting on a Screw for a .22 Lever action rifle for over 2 years now going close to 3! They have sent me 1 wrong screw and twice they sent bushings??? When I called and emailed them they said the screw was on back order!?! Even Had the President of Taurus contact me though Facebook messenger to only say He was sorry that this was happening but still nothing has came of it?! I swore that I would NOT buy another Taurus but my LGS had this little G2c PT111 & I got it for $150.00 out the door! Now I have only shot a few rounds though it But, WOW! I'm hooked on it's Performance! Just Hope I never have any problems with it that requires Me having to contact the factory!!

my edc and i love it.. fits my hand much better than the glock i had.. what sold me was the 12 rnd capacity in such a narrow grip.. i hand polished the friction points to relieve the gritty feel and have since put 150 rounds down range with no problems.. it's hard to believe they're as inexpensive as they are.. good vid!

According to the instructions, engaging the internal lock when a round is chambered can damage the firearm. Apparently it is only intended to be used in an empty firearm.
Great review. I think people badly underestimate this firearm because Taurus went through some issues several years back. I'm not aware that the G2 has ever demonstrated those problems, other than some issues early on with the design of the polymer guide rod assembly that have since been fixed. What would make it perfect? Offer a version without a manual thumb safety. However, for the price it is phenomenal. Add a Lakeline stainless steel guide rod assembly and it will probably run until you wear the barrel out.

Yup. This is my EDC CCW. Over 1000 rounds through it, including Tula, and not a single failure. As reliable as my Glock 17 Gen 4. Paid $250 for it. Thank you for pointing out the very short reset on this pistol. I love that feature, along with the long pull on the first shot ... which is a safety feature in my mind. I would bet my life on this pistol and can't recommend it enough. Great video. Thanks!

ATW BROTHER NICE VIDEO I agree Its one fine carry pistol smaller than my Sig P226 9MM.I like mine, The guys crying about the trigger don't understand the difference of a target competition pistol and a self defense pistol. For the price its well worth it.I carry mine with 3 spare mags.$199.00 after mail in rebate at Palmetto State Armory.

Why I like the trigger on this gun... The long take-up reminds me of a revolver pull until it hits the wall, then it's like any other striker trigger. The reset is superb. For a carry gun I find comfort in that long take-up...it's almost as if the G2C fits a specific niche for me. Then the price..it's like getting everything i want in a pistol while saving $200 dollars. I'm no Taurus fanboy, but I like this pistol. The new management talent at Taurus made a statement with this pistol...and they are grabbing market share...i'm very impressed.

I've had a Taurus G2C for almost 2 months now, fired almost 100 rounds through it and have yet to have a Failure to Feed, Eject or Stove Pipe. That being said if you use Federal Aluminum Ammo in it, it does have Failure to Chamber / Jamming issues, but that's literally an issue with the Ammo, not the Gun.

  • @Grodd70

I bought this exact same pistol for my wife about 3 years ago se liked this little 9mm. She carried it for a couple years about 6 months ago we upgraded her sidearm to a glock 23 now I carry the little Taurus PT111 G2 for EDC, its so light and compact compared to my G22 I love it. My only complaint is that long first stage pull on the trigger.

My PM709 Slim has never jammed, never stove piped, never a failure to fire or feed. It was under $220 out the door. I cant recommend them enough. It's also deadly accurate, AND it is designed to soak up recoil, I thought being so small I would feel the recoil but it is surprisingly easy to shoot... Fun, even. IMO Taurus nailed it with these new polymer guns. My gun has a FTF every time... Failure to fail...

  • @TheSawyerC

For the money, there is not a better gun in existence. This gun is easily worth another $100-$150 than it sells for. I've bought 2 and never looked back. I did manage a couple of failures on the 2nd one after copius amounts of Winchester white box and no cleaning. But my opinion on that ammo is another conversation entirely.
