I absolutely adore these guys here in Utah, they come in swarms every 20 minutes or so to the feeder and to get a bath/drink! I have trained them to come to my whistle whenever I put new cold water in their bath on hot days!! They come swarming in when they hear it! 😊 They make the most beautiful and exotic sound and it always makes me so happy! They all trust me and know that I provide food and water so they come very close to me and have no fear whatsoever!

Man here in Houston, we have swarms of these things in every parking lot, year round. They're kind of a nuisance, but I still enjoy watching them. They're smart too. They come and pick bugs that fly up when I mow the yard.

i have just moved two months ago into Dallas from Boston for some new job opportunities that i won't go into, but i would describe grackles, just living with them for the past 3 months now as both living alarm clocks and relaxed seagulls because they both dominate a parking lot and if you give one food you will have the entire flock but with none of the aggressive hang ups of a seagull and they make laser noises, honestly might be my new favorite bird!!

I don't know if it's the climate change that's brought these birds to my area but I've been seeing a ton of these around lately. I think I'm the only house on the block that has a bird bath and feeders...so that probably helps. I'm in northern Nevada. I've NEVER seen anything like these. I watched them today for a few minutes and Googled it since I'd never seen them before. They're so beautiful!! What a treat!

I'm in Las Vegas, and we used to have thousands of these guys all over the place, now you're lucky to see 3 or 4 in a days time.
The beautification committee has been cutting down the big trees, getting rid of all that nasty shade and leaves on the ground in the fall. There are
5G towers everywhere now. Some sources are saying that the microwave signals are extremely unpleasant to birds, and that it messes up their navigation systems.
But all that is just fine, because our way of life requires really fast phones so we can text
"lol" and "OMG" to each other, and look at lady gagas new tattoo all day. We don't need real birds or trees, we can look at them on our phones.

my school campus is full of these little guys. I've already started recognizing some individuals, there's a real lanky one that's almost completely black with essentially no iridescent feathers, a chunky female with some cool whote stripey markings over her eyes, one with a messed up eye, the one with a slightly twisted up wing that doesn't seem to prevent him from flying. They have so much character and personality

I'm sitting in a spot in Anadarko OK and theres a male I've been observing for about 5 days. This is his spot. But, I think maybe he was captive, because his call includes several sounds similar to computer games. More versatile than a mockingbird this one has quite the repertoire.

That's usually mating season. That's when their musical explorations get really wild. I composed a short verse in their honor.
I got jazz musicians livin' in the trees
      Listen to'em up there
      Singin' in the breeze
The music that they make puts my mind at ease
      It's always sure to please
      Even in the winter
      When I sneeze
I too live in LV and I had never seen these guys before. I've broken the ice and made friends with 7 of them, and they show up every day. There's one big one that I call Zorro, and he usually gives us a concert for about an hour every day. It sounds like modern jazz, and he even sang a short little lick that I was able to use in a tune I was working on. I got stuck, so I stopped and just listened to Zorro outside in the tree. He sang about 6 notes, that really sounded strange but usable. I picked up the guitar and copied it, and it fit like a glove. Zorro is now the co-writer of this tune, and he gets "royalty payments" every day in the form of fruit and nuts. Tomorrow I'm giving him some salami that I don't want. He loses his mind over the pepperoni from the pizza. He's a very cool buddy to have come around and hang out with us.
