We armchair Lumber Jacks are guessing, "High stump, throwing a heavy leaner, widow maker or pad". We amateur tree fellers appreciate the dangers you professional loggers have to endure so that we can call into our local timber yard and select the lumber you have worked so hard to supply us with, best regards from all of us and a very big thank you. A short funny quote, "Bigfoot is sometimes confused with Sasquatch, Yeti never complains"
The white paint is for the forestry engineers. It has to do with plots, they measure plots throughout the block to see get an average of volume for each species.
I just cut over to the footage of the big choppers hauling the big wood. Great footage. You had more hair 12 years ago 😂. You worked with your dad? That's great!
What is the average length of time you are out cutting each day? Is there a way to insure everyone is pulling there weight when cutting because you are some what out by yourself?
The norm is 6.5hrs on the saw. Doesn’t include travel or hiking in/out from the road. The guys on this crew have been with the company for a while and have been vetted through quality control and weekly onsite inspections. This company has a top-notch crew of fallers. With a small industry of hand falling here on the coast, reputation goes a long way. Résumé’s don’t really exist, it’s all about networking and reputation.
Over the years I have heard several stories of why a forked top tree is called a "schoolmarm" here is one. The tree somewhat loosly resembles an old time school teacher standing in front of a classroom with a pointing stick directing the students attention to something written on a blackboard.
I love hearing the tree creak every time you hit the wedge. I know you are listening to what it's telling you
Obviously situational awareness is paramount if you are to survive doing the work you do Bjarne
Bjarne, merry Christmas and happy new year.God bless America and the same for our neighbors to the north!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well!🎄

Do they leave the logs on the hillside for a year to dry out so they are lighter weight, before helicopter-lifting?
Great Video! Thank's

Where or what is the reason for the term school marm?
Over the years I have heard several stories of why a forked top tree is called a "schoolmarm" here is one. The tree somewhat loosly resembles an old time school teacher standing in front of a classroom with a pointing stick directing the students attention to something written on a blackboard.
